Hello Idaho people.

I moved here about a year ago from Delaware.

The first thing I noticed is that the road lines are SO hard to see when its dark or raining. Specifically in Boise/Meridian.

I'm curious what the response would be if I created a petition that people could sign, and maybe gather some statements from locals about the difficulty driving in any condition other than perfect weather.

I of course would gather statistics and contact local gov about solutions. Maybe some people on here have more information about if there is a plan in place.

I think overall, this should be a city standard for the roads- using reflective glass beads or something of the sort.

Any and all feedback is appreciated!!!

Thank you

Looks like the Ai boom is going to be taking over Micron's fabs(Crucial, the consumer branded products, is soon no more) to go to datacenter and B2B sales only. The price of RAM has skyrocketed over the past month due to datacenter demands. =/

Just got this email from West Ada.. are you kidding me? let's add MORE guns

Dear West Ada Community,

I am pleased to share that, after a year-long review, guided by local law enforcement, the West Ada School District is proposing significant enhancements to our comprehensive safety plan. The initiative includes two major components—Campus Sentinels and wearable alert technology— each designed to strengthen security across all 59 campuses, reduce staff burden, and build a more connected, protected learning environment for our students.

If approved by the Board of Trustees, every  West Ada staff member will be issued a high-tech badge that enables immediate communication during any emergency.  In addition, the district is seeking approval for a new policy that would allow Campus Sentinels—highly trained individuals with law-enforcement backgrounds who have completed a thorough screening process and ongoing, school-specific training—to serve as an added layer of on-campus security. Campus Sentinels would work in coordination with our School Safety Teams and School Resource Officers to provide a consistent, visible presence dedicated to protecting students and staff. These individuals will be permitted to carry concealed firearms on West Ada School District property while serving as Campus Sentinels.

We are pleased to share our two-part Enhanced Campus Safety Plan with the community.

A detailed description and accompanying video are available for your review here.

To read the proposed policy in full, please click here.

Additionally, District Administration and the Meridian Police Department will present our recommendations to the West Ada Board of Trustees on Monday, December 8, during the regularly scheduled board meeting. We invite you to be part of this process and share your feedback on these proposed policy changes. To submit your comments, complete this short survey, or share with us at the board meeting.

I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Meridian Police Department for its partnership throughout this process. Lieutenant Shawn Harper, who led our School Resource Officers for a decade, provided invaluable insight into the safety needs of our schools and staff.

Thank you for your continued support of our schools. Together, we’re building a caring, secure environment where West Ada students and staff can thrive.

Sincerely,

Dr. Derek Bub

Superintendent

The Ranch Podcast on Instagram: "Would passenger rail throughout the Treasure Valley be financially feasible? Well, the answer is yes and no. No, because who wants to spend money on anything, but YES, because compared to the TWO BILLION dollars it will cost to WIDEN the freeway is WAY more than getting a passenger system going on existing rail lines. Elaine Clegg, the Valley Regional Transit CEO, came on recently to explain what transit moving forward looks like in the TV. Dude, who lost the package on the connector? It’s getting close to a mile spread of toilet paper on the connector and downtown.

I was in Boise for the week from college and noticed an increase in both rental vacancies and length of vacancy. Is anyone else closer to the city noticing this trend as well?

I’m looking for date night ideas during this cold weather, that are ideally in public, interesting and unique.

Something beyond the typical go for a drink and maybe appetizers. Looking for something that doesn’t cost over $100 or is super expensive. And some place or activity that doesn’t take several hours. Looking to spend about two hours together three hours max. I know there’s options like bowling or going to a movie but we’ve done those. I’d like some place where we could comfortably spend a couple of hours and remain entertained. I’m trying to avoid the Saturday night date at one of our two homes so I can keep things light, but fun and intimate. I’m probably asking for the holy Grail and it doesn’t exist here, but feel free to toss out any ideas I’m open to any place or location in the treasure Valley?

I have a very, very, important family member that lives there and I wasn’t able to get his bday gift in the mail in time for it to arrive by Sunday. Desperate times call for desperate measures and this post is my desperate measure. It’s not going to be a big package- a lb of fudge, a few cards. I could pitch in some money for gas & the time needed to drop the box on his porch and run, (or walk, skip, crawl, whatever works best for you really.) You wouldn’t even need to knock on the door. He’s about 3.5 miles away from the state capitol building, just to give a general reference of location.

Small Business Saturday this weekend! Did you know that 96% of the businesses in downtown Boise are locally owned? Here’s a lovely guide from Idaho Press.
