Why is it that there is barely any reflective paint on roads in the Boise area? Whenever it rains it’s so hard to see. I’ve moved around a bit and at least for me Boise is the only place I know of that has this issue.

I wanted to avoid spending time with family this year, so my husband and I are hanging out with a friend; we want to just keep things easy and low key and just grab a takeout spread.

He suggested Chinese which is fine with us, but we haven’t eaten local Chinese in probably 5+ years. The one place in Boise off Overland that I thought was delicious closed down a couple of years ago.

What Chinese places do y’all like that are also affordable?

A new $630,000 digital sign on Highway 55 near Cascade will give southbound drivers real-time road updates in an area where cell service is often spotty.

https://www.ktvb.com/mobile/article/news/local/new-digital-sign-highway-55-provide-real-time-alerts-emergencies-traffic/277-e6a44ce7-56f0-45f2-89fd-9abf6e153677

I think this is cool, but I have several issues with the article. Wondering if it’s just me, or if others catch it.

It took me 2 hours (from 3pm to 5pm) today to get from work in Boise to home in Nampa. Today’s clusterfuck on the interstate was the worst I’ve seen in a while! Typically this only takes me 35 minutes at this time of day.

Thought I’d get a thread going to share what everyone is doing for Thanksgiving this year. Staying home, trying a new restaurant, volunteering, deep frying a turkey for the first time? Working? What’s everyone up to?

I know everyone is turning to AI to save a buck and it seems like radio is no different. 96.1, 96.9, 101.9, 96.5 seemed to all recently switch to using the same female A.I. generated voice for traffic updates and ad reads. I change the channel every time this voice comes on because something about it is almost unbearable to listen to. Do we think radio hosts are next to go? A lot of them are corny, but I still enjoy listening to them on the morning drive to work. I can’t imagine how painful/ cringy listening to 2 fake AI voices having a conversation would be.

I’m 26f, I’ve lived here for about 11 years and have yet to find decent friends. My boyfriend is about the only true friend I have. It’s even difficult to make them at new jobs. I’m mostly a quiet person but warm up really fast to people if they give me the opportunity. Every chance I get at making a new friend and then soon later find out that they’re not good people happens often around here. Any ideas? I’m sick of going to the bar and I’m not a church person so not very many options

Boise/TV has small+local versions of just about everything you need for daily life and/or gifting through the holidays! Most of us (at least those that I'm familiar with) are experiencing the wild ride that is small business operations (non-stop rising costs being a huge one for my industry) but still providing friendly, helpful and comfortable shopping experiences to help you find exactly what you're looking for.

I found this fascinating. Especially: ‘Going into this shopping trip, we assumed that prices would be higher than in 2022 across the board. Winco and Walmart, however, surprised us with both stores having cheaper prices in 2025 than in 2022.’

Boise Magic Draft League: Winter 2026 is back… and honestly, this might be the most ridiculous season yet.

Every winter, like clockwork, a bunch of Boise MTG nerds crawl out of our warm houses, wipe the Cheeto dust off our sleeves, and spend six weeks drafting ourselves into oblivion at breweries around downtown.

If you’ve never joined before, it’s… honestly hard to describe. Part Magic night, part social club, part “meet new nerdy BFF's" therapy group.

The Boise Magic Draft League: Winter 2026 is officially open for registration, and we’d love to see new faces.

TL;DR - Registration 👇

What the League is:

6 weeks. 6 drafts (build your deck with packs of cards each night). 6 chances to question your own decision-making while drinking good beer with good people. We draft weird formats, beloved sets, and absolute nonsense. A new experience. Every. Single. Night.

What it feels like:

• You show up at 6, grab a beer, talk about how your last deck “almost worked.”

• 6:30 hits and suddenly everyone is sweating over pick 3 like it’s the Pro Tour.

• By week 3, half the league is best friends and the other half are locked in long-standing blood feuds over mana flooding.

Level of play?

Totally mixed. Some folks have drafted for 20 years, some for 20 minutes. Nobody cares. It’s very “teach each other, laugh a lot, get better at a game.” For competitive and casual players alike.

If you can’t make every week:

Don’t stress. Your worst event gets dropped automatically. If you miss one, that becomes the drop. You still get the packs from days you miss, no worries.

Age 21+

Here’s the schedule if you’re curious which flavor of chaos speaks to your soul the most:

🔹 1/6 – Chaos Draft @ Boise Brewing

“Did… did we accidentally shuffle someone’s bulk box into the packs?” Yes. Probably.

🔹 1/13 – Edge of Eternities @ Here’s How Public House

The draft that haunts me. Every year. Every sleeve.

🔹 1/20 – 2HG Crime Draft @ White Dog

Find a partner and pray they can math.

🔹 1/27 – Mythology Mixer @ Belmont Brew House

Drafting gods, legends, enchantments… and somehow still passing removal.

🔹 2/3 – Bloomburrow @ Lost Grove

Tiny woodland creatures punching each other. Honestly delightful.

🔹 2/10 – Chaos Finals @ White Dog

Everything comes down to the final night. Beer + chaos + bragging rights = peak Boise culture.

There are prizes, including cash for top finishers, but most of us come for the vibes.

If you're new to Boise, new to Magic, or just want a reason to get out of the house this winter, this is genuinely one of the most welcoming communities out there. Some of my closest friends came from this league.

I was driving Westbound on 84 at about 8PM, just cruising along when a bunch of jack-ass’s flew by me going probably about 90mph. Then they lined up across all the lanes and dropped to about 30 mph forcing traffic behind them to slam on their brakes and swerve into other lanes that were also blocked. I watched this happen two times.

I almost never get road-rage, and generally do not mind people street racing at an appropriate time and place, but this actually made me angry. If you want to drag race, maybe don’t do it on the interstate with regular traffic?

I feel sometimes I go through phases in life when I get bored in life and consistently feel like I need to be doing something. No feelings of depression by any means. Already, ski, do some off roading trips, love walking outside and spending time with my dogs, hiking, and outdoor activities.

What do you all do to keep yourself motivated and manage boredom in Boise/Idaho?

Thank you for contacting me about your concern over certain members in the Republican party. I appreciate you reaching out and having the opportunity to respond.

I understand your frustration with the current state of affairs in this country and particularly with a handful of members in the Republican party. Many Americans are tired of the dysfunction they see from politicians who seem to be creating more problems instead of finding solutions that move our country forward. As the challenges facing our nation over the past decade have increased, the political rhetoric in Washington, D.C. has become increasingly hostile, and people are understandably viewing our political process as ineffective.

While the media focuses on the drama of the 24-hour news cycle, what Americans really want is for Republicans and Democrats to set aside their party labels and focus on what is best for the country. I believe that the energy and attention of all elected officials should be on responsibly governing as opposed to political grandstanding. Now more than ever, we have to work together toward addressing the most pressing issues facing our country. We must focus on economic policies that return jobs to American workers, cut taxes, and lower inflation. We must also work in a unified way towards completing our annual appropriations process to keep the government open and funded. These steps will not be easy, but they must be taken, and Congress must have the fortitude and courage to act.

You can be confident that as I serve as your Representative in the 119th Congress, I will continue to block out the partisan noise that comes from a loud few. It is my hope that all Americans – not just our elected officials – find common ground with one another and bridge the gap in a nation increasingly removed from the unifying principles that our country was founded on.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact me about this issue. As your representative in Congress, it is important to me to know your thoughts and opinions about issues affecting our nation today. I also encourage you to visit my website, https://simpson.house.gov/, to sign up for my e-newsletter and to read more about my views on a variety of issues.

Sincerely, (signed) Mike Simpson Member of Congress

My note: Hes so whipped he can't even mention DJT by name when he knows thats whos insiting violence.
