Here's one comment I deleted it, but a few people found it useful

Issue was:

https://web.archive.org/web/20230308190437/https:/old.reddit.com/r/OLED_Gaming/comments/wbwgwy/hdmi_21_issue_with_sony_a80j_and_rtx_3080_ti/

HDMI 2.1 issue with Sony A80J and RTX 3080 TI

Purchased a 55 inch Sony A80J from costco for 4k PC gaming with my new Zotac Trinity OC 3080 TI.

Problem is that none of the HDMI ports (both 2.0 and 2.1) worth with the PC. I do see an input, but it's heavily distorted with pink and green lines/sections and black jittery areas... can't use my mouse or my keyboard.

One possible solution I suggested was:

I experienced this issue on the X90J with the unresponsive green lines and frozen screen. It seemed to be triggered after watching dolby vision content from the Amazon app one day. What fixed it was switching to a hdmi signal where things were normal, which for me was setting hdmi to VRR (standard, dolby and enhanced had the green frozen screen) and then triggering HDR in windows. Like toggling on and off Windows HDR. After that things went back to normal.

I use a fiber HDMI 2.1 cable, so it seemed to be more a Sony software problem that required a random fix.

Looks nice so far. I got it from IzzyOnDroid's repo by searching "lemmy" in Droid-ify

Edit: oh yeah, i am really liking what i see. Refreshing gives haptic feedback and so do the toggle switches in settings.

I can't hold this back any longer.

I joined lemmy.one mostly because I thought the name beehaw was kinda stupid.

I just had a 503 error for the first time! I never thought I could get so excited about getting such a thing. Usually, I would be angry, but I'm not because this means people do flow in.
This made me remember the old days of the Internet. Ah, to feel young again...

I see many communities that got started in the last ten days. Sadly, some that I'm most interested in are not that active. Some are not active at all.

What are you doing to help your community? How do you go from lurking to contributing? Spreading the word?

Also, what's for breakfast?

#Solved

Our microwave has just begun to show a failure mode. With no settings on the timer/modes when we close the door we hear a 60-cycle hum.

We put a coffee cup with water in and closed the door but did not push any button and noted the hum. The water got warm, for the exposure of 20 to 30 seconds, the water got the expected level of warmth we think.

Is there any danger if we leave the door open? (No hum with the door open)

Could the Magnatron be running at a higher output than it is supposed to when the door is closed but the microwave is not under the control of its built-in circuitry?

Of course, there is no danger of the microwave doing anything other than heating stuff (No mad science going on)? We know that microwave ovens work by making the water molecules vibrate faster.

I saw somewhere that, instead of attaching images directly to Lemmy posts, you should instead post them to a Pixelfed instance and link to it. If a lot of people did that, it should reduce the load on Lemmy instances. I made a Pixelfed account so I could do that, but I don't like that people have to click through to see the image. For some ridiculous reason I kinda thought the image would show without having to do that lol. Are those the only two possible options, or am I missing something?

It’s been an interesting 10-ish days on the internet in general. Big thanks to @jonah@lemmy.one for hosting Lemmy.one. It’s a cool community, and I’m really enjoying the fediverse thus far. Looking forward to seeing how it develops!

Really loving the new experiences here on Lemmy.one. But I’m seeing many subs with off-topic posts. Community downvotes will help overworked mods find and remove such posts. I understand no one likes to be downvoted but it’s a necessary tool for our community and only helps users understand and refine what and where they are to be posting their content.

Sorry if this is not the right sub to be posting this question.

I'm experiencing weird refreshing behavior when browsing posts. I could be in the middle of looking at a picture or reading a post in the list and all of a sudden the page moves all over the place, and refreshes with new posts. If I had expanded picture, it closes the picture and resorts that post somewhere else in the list. It's almost behaving like live update sorting in Reddit comments. It's very jarring. More recently I had tapped on a post to read it further, started to write a reply, and the refresh happened on the post and the text I was typing was still in the reply box, but it was to some other post.

Cutting down the frequency of these a bit, think I'll aim for a few times a week.

Happy Friday!!

I follow mma and see they have a community on kbin. Can I somehow subscribe to it from lemmy.one?

Just got my visa approved, im so excited. Never done a solo trip before so this will hopefully be something completely different. Also, never been this far away when traveling without my family. Been googling a lot about Vietnam and what you can do and it seems like a really interesting country. AHH can’t wait

(made this in beehaw first, but since they defederated i decided to post it somewhere else)

I notice on some posts I look at them through my instance and see less comments than if I go to the page on the instance of the post. Is this expected? I never really quite understood how it works but makes me wonder how much I’m seeing

I'm sure it's not going to last forever as this site grows in popularity but I feel like I can talk about whatever with minimal judgement here (and just overall no anxiety in comparison to everywhere else), just nice vibes all around ^^

I feel like part of a mass breakup, where you sleep over a friend’s house and won’t/can’t stop talking about your ex. Everything you hate but will also miss. And then complaining because your friend doesn’t have the right kind of coffee. 🙂

Mine will depend if my wife's girl's weekend happens. If it does then I'm doing an art trail, which she would hate.

I've spent the last hour trying to subscribe to !technology@beehaw.org

The logical thing would be a subscribe button on the community page. That's not there. So I did some digging and apparently you're supposed to paste the community name into search.

I tried that. Initially it just brought up a list of posts that mention that community. I then tried to choose "communities" as a filter and it brought up nothing.

Would someone please tell me what I'm missing? Why is this so hard?

EDIT: Nevermind. It's in the sidebar which I missed because I'm on mobile. 🤦‍♂️

Just be good to each other here. We have a chance to grow organically, let's do it! Let's figure out how to on board new people and make that transition to the fediverse a positive experience!

I know I sound like Chris Teager but it works.

Had a decent amount of interaction yesterday so I'm keeping it going!

Hey all, new here and learning to find my way around Lemmy. I noticed that everything I do in Jerboa is showing up in my Chrome history. How do I make that stop?
