WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Three federal civil lawsuits filed after the raid on the Marion County Record will proceed. This development follows a federal judge’s decision to reject efforts to fully dismiss the cases on Friday. The lawsuits were brought by Eric Meyer, publisher and editor of the Marion County Record; reporter Phyllis Zorn; and office manager Cheri Bentz.

Good to see that justice is proceeding on this. Silencing the news is not a good plan.

A Trumper Karen trespasses onto their kids school to take pictures of a innocuous Gay-Straight alliance flyer and post online. They were banned from the premises but now they’re allowed back because the district caved in. This same lady has caused some books to be banned in the same district.

“If it was up to me, Election Day would be Election Day,” Proctor added. “There wouldn’t be early voting. Mail-in ballots would only be for military or severely disabled. But I got to bring 84 people with me, so I’m trying to chip away at it.”

According to testimony the Kansas Secretary of State’s Office provided to Proctor’s committee, 2,110 ballots were received after Election Day last November and counted. There were 603 ballots received after the grace period, and 104 ballots arrived after Election Day with no postmark.

"The increases in property tax are inflationary, and act as an impediment to home ownership. Some of our citizens on fixed incomes are being forced to sell their homes simply because they cannot afford to pay the annual tax bill, and that is a terrible situation.

"In my personal opinion, property tax is evil and unconstitutional. Property tax makes government your permanent landlord, whether you own your home or not. Even if you rent, the owner of the property eventually must include the increase in property tax on to your monthly bill in order to maintain a profit margin. There is no way you can ever truly own your own property. You could always lose it in a tax sale."

"While knocking on doors leading up to the election, the number one issue for the vast majority of people was the incessant, exorbitant increase in property tax each year. This is not unique to Johnson County. It is happening in many areas of the state."
