So im pretty happy with users just being able to block and control things themselves but there has been posts from this somali call girls account where I feel like the extra step of reporting is warranted.

They always obscure part of the text, no matter what. I juat want the full text.

nb that I use KES so maybe that's where the issue is?

Edit: should probably mention that this is on mobile, android

Edit 2: the code snippet below, provided by @pamasich, seems to have fixed the issue. I added it to my mobile browser (Firefox nightly) via the Stylus add-on:

div.more:not(:nth-child(1 of .more)) {
    display: none;
}

Edit 3: Latest KES update seems to have fixed the issue. More deets here: https://kbin.social/m/enhancement/t/777616 Thanks @shazbot

I've been using kbin since the Reddit exodus and I still don't really know the path to finding my way into a specific community/magazine I've subscribed to. I usually search for the name using the search function, then hope I find a thread from there in the results where I can just click directly into it. Surely there must be a faster, easier, and more reliable way, right?

First off, I absolutely love that microblogs are a part of my main feed now.

I do have a couple requests to consider, I apologize if this isn't the place to post such a thing.

  1. I think an option to keep microblog replies inherently collapsed would keep the feed from feeling too cluttered.
  2. Perhaps microblog posts could be colored a little differently from threads to make them more easily distinguishable at a glance?

One of my most wanted features as of late has been for the channel select menu to have my subscribed magazines and liked collections. Right now, it just contains some general feeds, but I thought it'd be super useful to also have your mags and collections there for easy access! However, given that Kbin development priorities are currently elsewhere, I'd try to implement something myself for the time being.

This userscript does exactly what the title says. All of the magazines you've subscribed to and the collections you've liked are now in the channel select menu that you can find in the top right. This should make getting to your favorite mags and collections a lot more convenient.

Given that this is my first time making a userscript and that I made this in a day, there are probably (definitely) a few bugs. If you find any, please let me know.

To start, Interstellar finally has an app icon; thanks to @BenjMathis1 for designing it and @dannii_montanii for helping implement it into the app! (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/jwr1/interstellar/e55763688df9f62b12997515830344b701e1f47c/assets/icons/logo.png)

Additionally, microblogging support has now caught up to thread support, thanks to @olorin99. Now, viewing, voting, boosting, etc. is supported on posts. Also, @olorin99 has added support for editing and deleting your own threads, posts, and comments.

A few other features added since the last thread here include support for replying to a thread, post, or another comment, a built-in YouTube video player, an interactive view for images (which supports scaling and panning), a collapse/expand button for comments with children, and a recommended instances section for kbin instances that support logging in via the API.

Here's the link to the latest working build (a new Windows build is now included): github.com/jwr1/interstellar/releases (Android, Linux, Windows).

If you've previously subscribed to the old Interstellar magazine, make sure to migrate over to the new one hosted on kbin.earth (for kbin.social).

So as to not clog up the kbinMeta magazine, I probably won't post as many future Interstellar updates here.

i don't want spam or posts against the rules to be showing up on other sites like lemmy because the deletion on kbin isn't federated, it feels irresponsible to me and will make the community look bad. can i delete a magazine?

A super helpful feature that PieFed (a new fediverse thread aggregator like Lemmy & Kbin) has is an "Add Remote" button on its communities page. This button allows you to get a community on another instance to appear on your PieFed instance (and thus get the PieFed instance to start getting posts from that community).

Here, for example, I use it to get /m/kbinStyles to appear on piefed.social.

A dedicated button & interface like this would be super nice to have on Kbin, as it'd help a ton with scenarios where someone's created a new community on Lemmy and you want it to federate over here. Currently, you can just type the community address in the search bar, but a dedicated UI would make this a lot clearer and more intuitive.

When you're in the All Content view, the arrows on the page select always act as if you're on page 1. I.e., the left arrow never works, and the right arrow always sends you to page 2. Not sure why this is.

I'd like to chat and hang out with you folks in real time. Do we have an official or unofficial discord server?

@ernest
I've noticed this week that I'm currently seeing no visual indication that the boost button is active. No underline, color, or anything.
It seems that a now-broken userstyle I'm using expects there to be an "active" class applied to the element, but it isn't anymore. Is that intentional?
Figured I should point this out to you in case you don't know already.

The main issues with the improper functioning of the instance have been resolved, but it led to additional complications. Currently, using the instance should be quite comfortable, but I will continue to work intensively on a comprehensive solution for the next few days. Therefore, occasional interruptions or errors may still occur.

Thanks for your patience!

I just suspended the 'kbin.social' domain from our side, the issues on their side is happening for days now and it really effects our service backend now also.. If they have it all solved we will remove the block and we can refollow again Sorry about this but we don't have other options

The issues that started occurring on Sunday turned out to be more serious than anticipated, extending beyond the application code. We are still working on resolving them to ensure the proper functioning of the website, but we need some more time. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Just curious if it's somehow got to do with anything on my end. I'm generally desktop-only, firefox-only.

Why are the microblogs not working properly?

The following pages are returning "404 page not found" consistently, for me at least. (Also, breaks infinite scroll on homepage.)

https://kbin.social/?p=2
https://kbin.social/?p=6
https://kbin.social/newest

(Though, https://kbin.social/newest?p=1 does seem to to work.)

Also not working:
https://kbin.social/all
https://kbin.social/active

the acccount name is fuckyou<myusername> and is downvote stalking me , account : https://kbin.social/u/Fuckyouzima

I still keep losing comments.
Stuff pointing from notifications lead to no such comment - cannot find anything with Ctrl+F and I see no page numbers or any other indicators of any other pages existing.

I can see posts with my other user name but none of the replies.

If you haven't been following the Interstellar magazine, I've added a lot of functionality since the last thread here, including views for magazines/users/domains, better navigation for wider screens, QoL additions (like the @ button to reveal originating domain, inspired by Artemis), and a lot of different bug/functionality fixes.

This latest update finally includes the ability to log in to a kbin account, and it's not even restricted to just one; you can log in to as many accounts (or view them anonymously) as you want.

Now that you can log in, you can also vote/boost threads and comments. In addition, you can subscribe/follow any magazine/user/domain. Finally, the feed view has tabs for Sub/Mod/Fav/All when logged in.

For would-be testers, here's the link to the latest working build: github.com/jwr1/interstellar/releases (AppImage and APK).

The new kbin.earth server (open registration and API enabled) can be used for people wanting to test the app logged in, or maybe you just want to try a different instance.

Feel free to post any bugs or suggestions in the comments, on GitHub, or on the Interstellar magazine.
