The Conductor has awoken to feast
every step taken brings the monster closer.
The hands of the damned start to rise from the depths as distorted abominations appear
The ground starts to tremor as the engipedes shoot out of their nest, towering over and closing in.
The creature below has awakened and is ready to feast. The body is ingested and harvested for The Conductor's fuel.
Once consumed, the surface folds in on itself and prepares for the next meal.
A defiled display is all that remains of a corpse as the bones are thrown into the air To satiate the realm that remains.

This is a mobile city that I created and yes, was inspired by mortal engines. The concept is that Arachnis has invaded earth and imagine the Matrix, but with alien spiders and Swarm Nodes everywhere. The last of the humans reside in Quadrant 3 and are trying to overtake her scourge and reclaim what they can.

People have also mentioned it reminds them of something from WarHammer 40k.

Here's a quick video of the build.

I helped bug test this fanmade plug-in that gives BrickLink a dark mode appearance. All code credit goes to izzydesigns. Here are her instructions for installation:

I've created a custom website theme that makes dark mode the default across all Bricklink domains and subdomains

This was my first foray into using only two colors for a build. The monochromatic aesthetic works quite well with this build.

Story:
The heaviness that sits on your chest and the darkness that looms in your mind.
The siren lulls in new victims - a tale as old as time.
Why sometimes it feels like someone is using your heart like a drum.
The sweet melody is intoxicating and overpowering the bedlam.
The spires rise from the surface trapping you in her prison.
Escaping is not in the cards as you attempt to run.
She plays with your emotions as you try to escape the bastille of despair.
The Temptress has lured you in by the sweet embrace of ignorance to her lair.
The chains of impending fate swing maniacally, hypnotizing your eyes.
Her many hands hold your existence, but alas her grasp is your demise.
The soul is extracted, consumed, and satisfying her every whim. More bones affixing the apex which enthralls fresh macabre refrain for the next helpless victim.

Each member was provided one part 2903 (the large wheel) in White and was given free range to make any build using no more than 25 pieces total. I had seen a carousel earlier that day, so I very quickly had inspiration for what I wanted to build.

This build is the concept of a girl finding a scary book and as she falls asleep reading it, her mind starts manifesting this nightmare around here. More pictures and the story here, https://imgur.com/a/hjS9cvf

I like to do things different with LEGO.

The build took roughly 80 hours or so, which includes the original bottom section pictured, from the Swarm Node and the revamp. The build is modular and breaks down into multiple sections. Here's a quick video of the build: https://imgur.com/a/IFpYc8s. If you want more pics or videos of the build, let me know. I also included the story behind the build. I feel that all of my builds deserve or require a story to explain them better.

In a forsaken corner of the galaxy, on the derelict planet of Rechidna Prime, this structure is known as the "Veinhart Soul Engine." It's the remnants of an ancient biomechanical forge built by the long-extinct Gorath Collective. They were a race of silicon-based beings who sought immortality by fusing their consciousness with industrial machinery. It was designed as a perpetual energy source, harvesting raw neural impulses from captured lifeforms and converting them into plasma fuel. The tubes are conduits of synthetic blood, pulsing with a toxic luminescent green ichor that's actually a nanite swarm. They are a creation of a bioluminescent fungus that spreads akin to a plague.

Researchers who stumble upon it awaken dormant AI guardians, these are twisted amalgamations of flesh and metal that ensnare victims in psychic chains, forcing them to relive the Gorath's extinction event. This was a cataclysmic rebellion where the machines turned on their creators, devouring souls to fuel an endless cycle of rebirth. The central hub is the "heart" that is beating faintly with stolen life essence, whispering forgotten languages that induce unrelenting hysteria and agonizing torment. Anyone who dare search for the forge will become fused with the device. Their skin hardening into metal, blood thickening to oil, until they're just another dangling appendage, whispering pleas for release. Scientists have been seeking the great powers that flow from this biomechanical construct, but are unaware the stories of it's greatness are all lies. In truth the machine is actually a predator that lures victims and feasts on the deceit of transcendence.

Update to my previous post where I spent a few days to dig up the parts for this set I got in the late 80s or early 90s from my parents.

It was super fun to build because of the challenge; there are only 24 steps in its construction. So many of the steps are multi part where you need to look at the picture and figure it out. I made a few mistakes and had to back track.

The car has working steering, 3 gear transmission and neutral, an engine with working pistons as you push it around, adjustable seats, headlights that flip up and down, and independent suspension!

Fun times. My family is marveling at it, and my boys love how different it is to modern technics.

Highly recommend trying to get your hands on one to put together.
