Put it in a sketchy looking thermos.

Like 30 year old thermos that's dinged up, peeling paint, maybe weird old stickers, some rust on the outside.

Pour out your creamer into it. Clean it out regularly.

No one is thinking some weird as thermos of mystery fluid is communal.

The hard part is just doing the cleaning and refilling covertly. You may have to bring it home to do that depending on how nosy they are.

Your future self can then do a word search to see who has your stuff and for how long.

Edited to add that in my case, it was for a duplicate item that a different friend asked to borrow. And yeah, I'm not gonna ruin a friendship over not getting something back but it does help ME to remember that it's not somewhere in my house and me wasting time looking for it. Thanks for your input folks.

Contrary to popular belief, AI isn’t very good at actually doing things such as a coding or writing for you at a very high level. What it is really good for is as a launch pad that accelerates the process of you being able to do it yourself; which will make for better results in general. Instead of telling it to fix your problem, ask it to point you in the right direction and towards the right resources. The extra time you spend by not just copying what it hands you is made up for in quality, and you’ll likely save even more time the second it’s time to maintain or improve the thing since you actually understand it.

I have ADHD and I’m surprised that my friends don’t know about this trick. When I’m overwhelmed, the one thing that really helps is just getting my thoughts out of my head. Doesn’t matter how - what matters is that they’re no longer bouncing around in there. So, here’s 3 ways I do it

1, Paper

If I’m somewhere without my phone or laptop, I just write it down on whatever’s available like paper, notebook etc. No structure, just write

2, Phone

If I have my phone, I’ll either type into the notes app or record a voice memo. (I used to just talk into the Apple Notes app)

3, AI (if you’re comfortable)

Sometimes I talk with chatGPT to release personal thoughts and maybe get some advice. For work stuffs, I talk with another AI (saner) to turn my rant into a task calendar for follow up

This simple habit has helped me massively, especially during times when everything feels like too much.

Always call your insurance member services prior to any study or procedure to get a cost estimate. Sure, you may be able to get a "cost estimate" on their app or website but here's the thing they aren't always accurate(suprised pikachu face). A funny little thing happens sometimes in the billing end of things where something that should have cost $25 is now being billed to you at $400 all because the provider used a hospital billing address for the service. Happens way too often. So even though you did not get procedure done at the hospital, the billing place says you did and will try to charge you differently which can often result in a much higher cost to you. This is why I suggest calling. All of the major insurances use recorded lines which means there is a recording of a representative providing you with what the cost should be. So if the billing issue happens you now have ammo to fight your insurance company to correct the billing issue. They have to honor it. Also bonus tip, if you are seeing a provider within a block radius of the hospital, they will use the hospital as the billing provider and trust me it will cost you way more. Take the 10 minutes to make the phone call.

TLDR: call insurance member services prior to services/procedures to prevent being overcharged for services due to billing issues.

If you’re ever feeling sad or like the world is much too small, try going to the top of a parking garage with a pretty view at sunset. You’ll see people going to bars, playing football, having biker meetups, coming back from bars, having a photoshop (*photoshoot), or just enjoying a small dinner in front of the sunset. It helps kind of broaden your view and it’s always fun to see how much is going on around that you scarcely ever observe!

Original Title: LPT: At night during the summer, open 2 windows and use a large fan to blow the hot air out of one window, which pulls cooler air into the house from the other window. This is much more effective than trying to blow cooler air in directly with the fan

Just had our car repaired and thankfully hadn’t turned any music on because now we’re headed back for a squeal. Might have missed it had we had the music or book on tape going. SMH

A lot of hotels will provide bottled water to the room at some charge if you open them, sometimes up to 5x what the bottle is worth. That usually leaves you with only tap water as your source.

However, many hotel fitness centers are equipped with newer water coolers which not only chill the water, but filter it as well. Fill up a water bottle there instead of paying!

I use this at work every single day with demanding clients or colleagues, but you can use this in any social situation.

It de-escalates without being confrontational and encourages cooperation instead of resistance.

“Help me understand what’s most important to you in this" or "help me understand How you'd like to move forward" or "help me understand why this isn't working for you." Much better than: “Why are you making this harder than it needs to be?” or "why are you being an idiot?"

Especially when you find that you are at an impasse or either one of you is getting heated, this simple phrase recalibrates the conversation and focuses you all on the task at hand.

If your luggage gets lost or delayed, you'll be having proof of what it looks like and what was in it, which makes dealing with the airline very easier.

Brushing your teeth. Folding laundry. Taking out the trash. These boring, low-effort tasks are usually wasted time. But here’s a psychological trick...deliberately use them as a cue to think about something specific like a decision you've been putting off, a creative idea you want to develop or a feeling you haven’t processed.

Because your body is on autopilot, your brain is free to roam. And because the task has no distractions, it's the perfect low-stakes space for mental clarity.

When watching television with your children put on the captions. It will introduce your children to new words and their spelling skill will improve dramatically. This will give them a leg up in school l. This could also help adults learn a second language. Set the captions to your desired language and expose yourself to new words in your chosen second language.

For instance, I was rearranging my art supplies and found a perfect cozy drawer for them, but it was too cozy and only lasted for 2 months as I kept buying art supplies and had nowhere to put them - again.

When you're using GPS for navigation, change the setting to lock the north direction instead of turning with you.

Just by making that one change you'll be viewing things differently. Without having to think about it, you'll have a sense of direction because now you're looking at a map instead of an app.

This helped me out a lot when I started delivering food in an unfamiliar town I just moved to.

Every time my wife and I moved into a rental, we asked for small amount of the paint they used on the place for "touch up as needed". This way, when we moved out we could paint small places that needed it with the same color paint to maximize the deposit we got back.

Once, the manager asked a maintenance guy that took a quick look at the place how it looked and his response was "immaculate". It also meant that we completely ignored the "no holes in the wall" rules because we just added a little spackle and paint to make the walls look pristine.

FYI, anything that is in the passenger compartment of your car and is not tied down is a projectile waiting for impact with your head in an accident. get some cheap bungees or velcro straps and secure your load.

I used to spring out of bed, run through the shower and dash off to work. My body paid the price. Now I spend 15 minutes every morning stretching my arms, legs, back and neck. Same before I crawl into bed and I feel 20 years younger!

People love people who are interested in them. And they love sharing their interests. This makes for an easy, enthusiastic conversation and you also get a lot out of it. You learn more about people, but you also learn about a new topic.

There really is no need to have a boring or awkward conversation with someone new.

I've seen many 'loneliness' posts. People who just want friends but they don't seem to know how to interact anymore. I found this to be the single best way.

It literally doesn't matter what it is. There are people for anything available. May it be video gaming, programming, gardening, painting, repairing or even Lego's, there are people for any hobby online.

The reason why this works so well is because you're actually talking to people who share the same interests as you. Are you shy about your work and that's what's keeping you from posting? Post it as a question. ''How can I improve XYZ''. You could use any type of platform it really doesn't matter.

Side note: If you're looking to connect with people to excel at your work, it's even better. If you're looking to get a job as an e.g. gardener and you post your amazing garden work on LinkedIn, you'll eventually get noticed and someone might just DM you to get theirs done.

You know those times when no matter how hard you try, you just can't focus? I used to push through, thinking it was just a discipline issue, but turns out, it’s often just bad timing.

Your ultradian rhythm plays a big role in how alert or sluggish you feel throughout the day. I changed up how I plan my day and even started using a calendar specifically to match tasks with those energy shifts. Now I do deep work when I’m at my sharpest and save easier stuff for when I’m running low. It’s made a big difference.

Feels way more structured and productive without trying harder. Just working with my body instead of against it.

Whenever I’m traveling with a lot of baggage and need a rent-a-cart to carry all of my bags, instead of paying the rental fee for a cart (which can be as high as like $9), I always quickly pop outside the baggage claim area to a nearby passenger pickup area and there’s usually a handful of luggage carts that have not been returned to a docking station, so I’ll just grab one and bring it in!

Extra LPT - pay it forward and don’t bother to dock your cart when you’re done using it! (Almost like a backwards litmus test vs. grocery store shopping carts).
