I want to setup one of my VMs so it can only connect to the internet through Mullvad, similar to how you can set things up with qBittorrent etc..

The Problem is that Mullvad is not listed in VirtualBox menu. The Cisco AnyConnect client for instance is. One difference I have found is that in the properties of any adapter that shows up "VirtualBox NDIS6 Bridged Networking Driver" is listed and not in the mullvad properties. I tried to install it but nothing happens.

How do I set this up? Has anyone done that before?

(Running Win10 with Mullvad 2025.4 and VB 7.1.6)

Whenever I turn my computer on, the globe icon (indicating there is no network connection) turns into the monitor with an ethernet cable icon, then it turns BACK into the globe icon after Mullvad starts.

When I stop Mullvad connecting hoping to regain my internet access, the app gets stuck on the green padlock with a red dot (a.k.a. connecting mode), and it won’t switch to the red padlock. Even after closing the app. I’ve tried Task Killing all the processes associated with Mullvad to no avail, and even Task Manager glitches by showing processes that CMD says aren’t open.

Anyone able to help? I have the latest version of Mullvad VPN for Windows 10 22H2, and I also have ZoneAlarm Extreme Security Nextgen as my Antivirus. Added exceptions for every single EXE file found in the Mullvad directory in Program Files

I have reason to believe it’s my AV because when I was subscribed to ProtonVPN, it had a habit of cutting off my internet access for certain apps and turning the whole ProtonVPN app into a white screen. However I’m open to your theories.

Had to shut down Mullvad VPN today because it used ~1.5GB of data (of my 2GB plan 🙃) over about 30 minutes. No other app is even close to 150MB in the same time period so it can't be that. Why would this occur? I don't trust the app anymore, I was just lucky to have been using my phone while my 2GB warning came up...

[Edit: on wifi the data usage is about 50% Mullvad and 50% all other apps, which seems reasonable, but would speak against for example DAITA (thank you to @ballesterer13 for bringing this up) since on regular data Mullvad has consumed almost 2.6GB and all my other apps combined is ~300MB. Or, why would DAITA consume 1.5GB over thirty minutes rather than just constant extra use -like wifi data shows.]

Before I must say Mullvad has been the best to use in China for over 2 years. Rarely had connection issues where all others failed like Nord and Express and lately Astrill. But it seems the fun is over. I'm unable to connect to any server on any device no matter which VPN settings. Are there other users in China encountering the same issue?

Tailscale is already set up as an exit node and advertising subnets. It works with Mullvad VPN turned off but not when it's turned on.

Tried using the app:

Settings > Split tunneling. Tailscale is not in the list. Selecting it manually by clicking "Find another app" and then going to its directory usr/bin/tailscale

Tailscale doesn't show up in the list. Doesn't work.

Tried the terminal:

pgrep tailscale

mullvad split-tunnel add 8700

No errors and it is in the split-tunnel list but it doesn't work.

Edit: Running Linux Mint Xfce 22.1 on a Dell Wyse 5070.

I admit to even more utter stupidity, but hope it helps someone help me out. I thought I had Mullvad VPN uninstalled, certainly not running, and noticed it setting up an outbound call, so blocked it with Little Snitch, which I’m just learning to use. I may have deleted the rule. Crap. Lost my connection to internet. Used, per suggestion on one side,AppCleaner, rebooted safe mode, still no luck. I can’t find explicit info on ~/Library/ files to trash, and noticed Mullvad daemon running (I don’t remember where). And in spite of trashing everything I know about the Mullvad is “allowed in background “

I reinstalled my OS, circled 13 times while whistling REM tunes through a mouthful of crackers… nada. Can someone please give me figure this out for this noob?

Has anyone else here have problem with YouTube streams?

Ever since I switched from NordVPN to Mullvad I need to login into YouTube to view items. I did not have this before. Is this because of Mullvad?

Original Title: Just switched to Mullvad and have the issue of when the screen times out on my mobile, whatever I'm streaming in the background is interrupted/stopped. The same goes for communication messages, they flood in when I unlock the mobile again. Is there something I am doing wrong with its setup?

Wassup fellas, Just wanted to remind you that the search engine Mullvad Leta is accessible without Mullvad IP addresses, I tried to contact them and informed them about this issue, However I'm not sure if this is an accident or they are diciding to make it free for everyone, In their terms of service, It still says it's paid though, What do you think guys?

was someone able to configure Mullvad DNS over HTTPS in Linux Mint? I tried to follow the steps that Mullvad recommends without success. I believe the issue is that systemd-resolved is disable, but I cant figure out how to enable it. Everytime I try, I loose my internet connection.

Hi I want to move away from chrome and edge and be my main browser for yt, reddit, reading news and research for uni and so on, so i found mullvadvpn and it sound and for the start it look great.

I know, I notice the so called letterboxing (yes, I looked at how to disable it and I understand its role in the security system).

But is there maybe an addon that makes it less visible, maybe the same color as the main part of the website?

or disable it or maybe make it even smaller?

Thanks for you help :)

Edit: I had a look around and yes you can disable it, its described in this post.

Link: https[://]mullvad[.]net/en/blog/daita-bug-in-ios-app-versions-20251-and-20252

We have found a bug in our iOS app related to DAITA and multihop in app versions 2025.1 and 2025.2. An update with a fix is coming soon.

When DAITA is used with multihop,  app will erroneously report that DAITA is in use, when in fact it is not. One can still safely use DAITA only if they enable the direct only option and disable multihop, with the downside that there are fewer usable servers.

The bug itself was introduced as we were upgrading to version 2 of DAITA, where we negotiate DAITA parameters with servers before setting up the connection. Since we must negotiate with the entry first and the exit afterwards, the app erroneously used the last DAITA parameters that were negotiated. Since DAITA is only ever applied to the entry connection, the app ended up using the non-existent DAITA parameters negotiated with the exit.

We have a fix and we are working on making a release in the coming week.

Hi, I am trying to switch from NordVPN to Mullvad, but the main reason I use a VPN is because I am an American who lives outside of America, and I use VPNs to stream as if I am in America, because certain services like hulu and hbo don't work where I am.

But when I use mullvad, it seems like the streaming services can tell that I'm using a vpn, moreso than when I use NordVPN? Does anyone know why this might be? I tried changing some settings around but I'm not sure if I am missing something because it still isn't working. Any help?

Just updated today. Immediately began noticing that many native apps like Mail, Safari, Message and some 3rd parties will not connect at all when on VPN. Brave being a notable exception. I made no changes to VPN settings after upgrading and had no issues prior to the move to the beta.

I'm on 2025.4

Anyone else seeing this and/or any suggestions?

Verizon sent me that letter that I’ve been downloading. (I torrent movies and shows) will Mullvad help me avoid getting my service terminated? Are there any settings that I need to change while using Mullvad?

Title says it all. I really just want my Plex server to ignore Mullvad but no matter what I add to the split tunneling (media server and every other Plex associated exe I can find), it is still getting hung up on it and disabling remote access. Another user recommended adding the windows host process to the split as well, that didn't help either. Any advice appreciated.

Edit: Who downvotes questions like this, bots? If you're trying to make a point about using the search, I have, and there's dozens of threads like this, none of which ever come to a conclusion, so it makes sense to refresh the topic.

Seemingly out of nowhere, the past couple of weeks mullvad on my Win10 PC wont connect to any servers anywhere over LAN but it connects just fine if I disable the LAN and use wifi instead. I've updated all drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled the ethernet and LAN controller, updated bios, unplugged and plugged the LAN back in, turned it off and back on again, tried several different version of mullvad (currently 2025.4), and messed with every setting in mullvad and all results come back the same; it connects over wifi but not over LAN. It says it's 'unable to apply firewall rules and to try disabling any third party antivirus or security software' so i disable and quit Malwarebytes and manually add everything in the mullvad vpn folder to trusted in windows firewall's incoming and outgoing traffic...but still won't connect.

I'm at a loss of what else I can do.

Hello, I'm a user of the Mullvad Browser, and I updated it today, and when I did, I noticed that the search bar said "Search with Mullvad Leta" instead of "Search with DuckDuckGo", and so I checked the settings, and it said that my main search engine was Mullvad Leta. I thought that was weird, because I never changed it, and I thought that Mullvad Leta was only exclusive to people with a Mullvad VPN subscription, but when I searched something up, it worked. I didn't know how, did Mullvad make their search engine free? Anyways, I checked the Mullvad Browser all modifications website to see if they changed anything, but it still said the search engine was DuckDuckGo, so did they change the default but didn't update the modifications list yet, or is it still DDG? Well, I changed it back to DDG, but if anybody has an answer, then pls tell me. Oh yeah, I also use Proton VPN, so does that have any affect on the browser?

Mullvad's site seems to recommend using their apps on our devices; there's very little help for installing on router. That said, is installing on the router preferred or advantageous?

I know when it comes to privacy focused browsers that it is a good idea to leave the settings as they are and not add a bunch of additional extensions. Since I recently, just a day ago, lost faith in Librewolf due to them going all political my obvious choice was to replace LW with the Mullvad browser, the thing is I'm not planning on using their VPN only using it as a hardened Firefox kind of thing.

This is what I did:

0. Removed the Mullvad extension since I will not be using a VPN.

1. Changed to the dark theme which was available.

2. Change the New tabs which had the Mullvad logo and a message saying "Developed in collaboration between the Tor Project" to Blank Page, all dark that is due to the dark theme. Same for Homepage and new windows.

3. Added some bookmarks.

Will this compromise anything? Is there a use case or some protection feature in the Mullvad extension or is it strictly only if your using a VPN and if so is it safe to remove it??

I have not touched anything else and everything in uBlock Origin and in NoScript is still in the default settings as Mullvad ships the browser.

I know it's a work in progress. I've read all about the recent bugs and fixes with the app for Windows 11 in addition to other things to do to fix broken network connectivity that may happen.

Question: anyone experience issues or deal with this issue on latest Windows 11 Pro 23h2 from February related to the enabled feature AutoDoH and DDR (Discovery of dynamic resolver) with nofallback causing issues to bootlean and make stick the DNS for Mullvad when activating the VPN?

I'm getting a leak with all network adapters and internet internet config said to automatic with nothing manual. Cloudflare still staying active when running DNS leak tests showing both cloudflare and m247 or whatever Mullvad DNS server being used. I've tried everything from clean reinstall of all Network adapters and chipsets to no avail.

Other idea I had was to add one of the Mullvads dns filters I want to use to the registries WellknownDoHDNSServers key, which I tried and makes it stick but still cloudflare lingering in there as well even after deleting that reg key. Happening both in Chrome and edge, with and without secure DNS enabled which is odd.

Question 2: with hyper-v and WSL on the Windows system, not necessarily actively using docker or visualization currently, but anyone seeing issues where it breaks all connectivity following disconnect or Auto disconnect and reconnect upon rebooting the system with lockdown enabled? I'm getting unilateral breakage many times when this occurs, And it sets the virtual adapter switch the primary with its own 192.168.1.x subnet all of a sudden instead of 172 or 169 that it is typically in, conflicting with other system and VLAN components within the 192.168 subnet.

Also, I've also noticed that when installing the VPN it literally removes the visibility of the hyper-v vethernet switches in networking and adapters which should not occur. I mean I can find it another way through admin tools I got and it shows under ipconfig as well but pretty sure this may be a bug, hoping to hear others experience.

[SOLVED] Currently I'm facing an issue with Mullvad VPN where is trying to reconnect to a VPN service indefinitely, I don't understand why but I think it may be because something is interrupting the connection. Should I adjust some configuration to make it work? Last time I manage to connect it was at night and I just restarted my PC for another thing not related to Mullvad VPN.

Update:

I manage to look at my Firewall, also in my Device Manager there was some things about Cloudflare WARP that may have been causing the issue. I uninstalled both Cloudflare WARP and Mullvad VPN and installed Mullvad VPN again and it's working
