Is anyone else experiencing very long load times on apnews.com when mullvadvpn running? I have a consistent problem with this site no matter which mullvad server I use.

By reverse split tunnel I mean all traffic doesn't go through the vpn but rather you have to opt a program or port in to use the vpn. I'm on ubuntu server 24.04. I'm just trying to bind my vpn to my torrent client and let everything else use my normal network.

I have ab ASUS gt-ax11000. Using wire guard on the original FW. I have troubles to connect to server via the router but not on the Mullvad app. Likely because of no bridging. Question: would a change to a gl.net router make sense? Or does it end up the same because a no bridged wire guard connection? The meta question is if there is way to ‚obfuscate‘ (bridge) access from a router for a mere mortal? 🐰 Thanks

I'm new to Monero, from a post titled "does KYC matter?" on the monero subreddit, the top comment explained that:

"When you withdraw XMR from an exchange, that's like withdrawing cash at a bank. They do not know know what happened with that cash afterwards.

However there remains a permanent record on your name, that you at some point in time did own Monero. It's probably nothing, but in case your government becomes super-tyrannical and starts rounding up people with crypto, or the exchange gets hacked and your name and the amount you withdrew become doxxed, then things can take a turn for the worse."

I read other comments on here mentioning to use changenow, simpleswap, cake wallet, haveno, or peer to peer markets like bisq, but I am still not familiar with those services.

I am aware that purchasing XMR on a CEX would leave a permanent record of owning XMR, which is not ideal, but for purchasing mullvadvpn and maintaining the highest level of privacy, does it matter if I purchase mullvadvpn with XMR withdrawn from the CEX, or first withdraw the XMR from the CEX into a wallet, then purchase mullvadvpn?

Any help or explanations are much appreciated, thank you

Original Title: How come I can't join a 7 days to die server when using Mullvad VPN? Im a noob but understand the importance of a VPN and I've tried them all. Mullvad has been the best so far and then Proton... But I don't need Protons Eco system so I found out about Mullvad and am happy. Anyone help me out?

Just want to know what I'm doing wrong. If anyone can help me understand how to connect to gaming servers... I'd appreciate it. No big deal I can always play offline, I just play 7 Days to Die once in a while. And only Nintendo with my son so,,, I'm not big into gaming but really love getting away from reality and running from zombies... It would be nice to do it with others online so.... Plz feel free to help thx.

As the title says, I’ve bought mullvad vpn and found out that the japanese streaming Abema doesn’t work. Do you know if changing the setting would fix it?

paid via wallet of Satoshi. it did say 'fee high relative to tx' but afaik the fee was about $0.40-50

I wasn't bothered about that as you get 10% discount and I prefer privacy.

But I had about £13-14 of btc in my phone wallet, now I have £3, so it has indeed charged me £9

I can see -0.00011829 btc in my wallet yet the TX said it cost about £3-4

pretty feckin angry! wtf? that's 2-3 months of vpn for only 1 month...any idea what happened?

Getting tired of this now. It’s been months and I still can’t use handoff/screen mirroring or any other iCloud services like iMessages with Mullvad on. On version 2024.8. Why has it not been fixed yet? Proton works perfectly fine.

I have a proxy service running on a Linux server for my own use, and I currently use Cloudflare WARP as the proxy's traffic exit. However, I heard that WARP doesn't protect my traffic as well as VPN, so I tried the Mullvad VPN, but I found that the IP addresses of these paid VPNs are often abused. I'm worried that using a paid VPN as a proxy's back-end exit would be a very unsafe thing, which may lead to a lot of privacy leaks (although I understand that data such as account passwords are encrypted with TLS when exchanging with websites). Should I continue to switch from WARP to Mullvad VPN?

Hi, I would like to ask if there is a chance to get something like a DNS adblocker made by mullvad. Because I don't want to reroute my DNS requests to other customizable platforms. Everything should stay within the infrastructure of mullvad.

Is something like this planned in future?

I just went to install Mullvad's update to 2024.8 and I now do not see the app on my iMac at all. I can install the app but nothing more than that. Any Idea what happened and how to fix it? TIA

i try Mullvad browser for the first time.

It should be that all data is deleted when closing the browser, except for the data from specific websites. I add these exceptions. However, when I close the browser and reopen it, the list of exceptions is empty again. What could be the cause of this?

mullvad never needed such masssive campaings in its history ever and not it seems more and more desperate to attract attention. with over 25 percent in profit (yep! seee their finances), they should have rather discussed some solution to introduce a more affordable plan but nopee!

rather milk more moneys from users who supported them thru years by removing port forward (yea this affects bit torrent a lot and many other things!!), hardly sustainable server speed and increasing more buggy apps!!

greed is what seems likee the main force behind mullvad and what a joke that they talk about privacy this and that while they silently handed over customer data including sesntive info to guess who?? Google! yeppp Gmail was their partner for ages and Mullvad is so coward rn that in their blog they wont even mention their name...

but who cares? not the founders or their CEO...

We are counting down the days until 2025 and are excited about the things that will happen next year.

Let us take a look at the special year of 2024. Here is what we remember most fondly:

Self-hosting our Support Email

Early in February 2024 we announced (https[://]mullvad[.]net/blog/we-now-self-host-our-support-email) the overhaul of our Support Team email inbox, by moving it to our self-hosted hardware. We explained how it had been audited, and that we had opted to run the servers completely in RAM.

Our Support team can be reached via support@mullvadvpn[.]net

Introduced DAITA

Constant packet size, random background traffic and data pattern distortion, with a heavy increase in bandwidth utilization were what we unveiled during May with DAITA (https[://]mullvad[.]net/blog/introducing-defense-against-ai-guided-traffic-analysis-daita). The technology is available on all our apps across all our platforms, offering users the optional ability to mix in fake data within their traffic to further mask their browsing and usage.

A more detailed look at how DAITA works, with an accompanying video and diagrams was released late-October (https[://]mullvad[.]net/blog/daita-defense-against-ai-guided-traffic-analysis). DAITA increases bandwidth usage greatly, and can have an impact on battery and network performance. Since announcing the feature we have enabled it on more than twenty VPN servers, both rented and owned, with plans to expand in 2025.

Adding ShadowSocks, multihop and Encrypted DNS proxy access method

An internal goal of 2024 was to bring feature parity across platforms and privacy features to the forefront of our apps. We achieved this by adding Multihop to all platforms, offering a new method by which to connect to our backend API in order for the app to communicate with login servers with the Encrypted DNS Proxy and adding ShadowSocks for WireGuard (https[://]mullvad[.]net/blog/introducing-shadowsocks-obfuscation-for-wireguard) to enhance obfuscation for customers that truly need it.

Security audits for VPN servers and VPN apps completed

We contacted Cure53 to perform the fourth audit towards both OpenVPN and WireGuard server configrations in June. They expressed that their “..overall verdict on the current security posture of the assessed items within the scope is very positive.” with the report available here.

Just recently in December we wrote about our third security audit of the Mullvad VPN app by X41 D-Sec was performed, a thorough look into our thoughts on the audit, and their report can be found here (https[://]mullvad[.]net/blog/the-report-for-the-2024-security-audit-of-the-app-is-now-available). The app was noted as having a high level of security, some non-critical issues were found, and have been fixed to the extent possible.

Traditional outdoor advertising

In October we highlighted our outdoor campaigns spread across large billboards, sides of buildings across multiple cities in the USA (https[://]mullvad[.]net/blog/advertising-that-targets-everyone) aiming to raise awareness about mass surveillance, showing its negative impacts. Just like these traditional ads, we have no method to track how well these campaigns have worked directly. We just have to have faith that they have had a positive educational impact.

With that, thank you for this year. Our fight against mass surveillance and censorship will continue.

I mainly use Mullvad on my PC and Laptop and I mainly get it through vouchers on Amazon or via bitcoins, today I tried the app with my mullvad account on my android phone, I was checking the settings and stuff to start using it and then I wanted to add another month on my account directly from the app, now since my paysafecard account is linked as a payment method to my google play account when I clicked on "add 30 days time" on the app it directly propose me to pay using my paysafecard account, I don't know if anyone noticed it but in a nutshell is this workaround a valid way to use paysafecard indirectly to pay for mullvad vpn since they normally do not accept this payment method, I don't really care since I do not use this payment method but kind off genuinely curious now does anyone tried this before ?

Those are features on IOS and Windows, but on Linux you have to either give it the process ID or launch the app from mullvad which is really inconvenient. Are there ways to automate this process or will this be added in the future?

Hi!

I would like to watch movies/TV series . Last time I had mullvad sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't, I often played with different settings that I don't really know what they did with different results. Is there any way at the moment that will guarantee that I will get through this block? It's very important to me

Hello all,

May have to bear with me as I've probably missed something here, but I cannot for the life of me connect via WireGuard.

I've downloaded and installed WireGuard to my Windows PC.

I already have the Mullvad app and can connect to OpenVPN servers without issue (bar finding a server that allows me to access both Reddit and YouTube).

When logging in to the Mullvad website, I have WireGuard keys already, one for each connected device (based on the same name, i.e., 'Big Panda', etc).

However, these already existing keys can't be amended, such as 'choose servers', 'enabled DNS blocker', etc.

Therefore, I have to create a new WireGuard key which allows me to select which options I want, and the download the .zip archive (which I can't with the existing WireGuard keys).

Once the archive is downloaded, I can import the tunnels ito WireGuard without issue. Choosing a server, I can activate a connection successfully.

However, I then cannot connect to any website/service/the internet.

I've tried forcing the Mullvad app to only connect to WireGuard servers, I've selected the specific server I've connected to in WireGuard so that it matches, but to no avail.

My feeling is that, because the WireGuard key I've used to import the tunnels is different to the one that's already created for my device is different, they're not a match between the WireGuard applicated/tunnels and the one used in the Mullvad app locally and it's causing it to fail.

I've checked the Mullvad site and streams of Reddit posts but I can't find any guidance, just the guides on the steps I've already taken.

Can anyone help?

I'm sick of Reddit being blocked and/or YouTube saying I'm a bot, then having to switch between various servers to get one to connect while breaking the other.

I started using Mullvad maybe a year and a half ago. It's the first VPN I've ever used and I don't know much about them. I'm decent with computers so I'm sure I could fix it if it's something on my end with some advice.

I've never had problems before though! Is Mullvad slow now, or is there something I should look into in my settings?
