Android is set to always on VPN, background usage allowed for Mullvad, but I'll suddenly start seeing ads when browsing and I realise app has disconnected. Reinstalled no different. Downloaded from fdroid not play store. Android 14. Anyone else?

Hi,

I've been running the WireGuard client on my GALAXY note 9 (android 10) and have set it up with DNS blocking for malware and ads. It's been working perfectly for weeks, and I enjoy a more responsive connection and better battery life than with Mullvad's client.

Tonight, I noticed some ads popping up, and a quick visit to an ad-blocking testing site shows that my ad blocking is at 9% compared to the usual 97%.

I tried different servers in the US as well as in Europe, but I experienced the same effect on content blocking.

I then connected with Mullvad's client, and my ad blocking is back at 97%.

Can anyone make sense of what's going on? Thanks in advance for your input.

When I try to install it on to my computer is says “you cannot install Mullvad VPN in this location. The mullvlad vpn installer does not allow its software to be installed here.”

How can I fix this?

Mullvadvpn is working, but not really.

I am in China (China blocks everything Google, including the app store (Play store)).

I installed the Mullvad app on my phone (and computer) prior to coming. I can connect and use Google and Youtube and Reddit.

However, on my phone, when I try to install a new app, or update an old app, I simply get an endless "pending" message (for installations) or "waiting for wifi" message (for updates).

How can I have my Mullvad work for play store app updates and downloads?

I tried buying something that uses hcaptcha and no matter what I did the hcaptcha would reset every time I clicked the buy button. After a lot of searching it cape up that it might be a vpn issue that was solved by changing server. I tried about 20 servers in different locations before giving up and disconnecting mullvad and it worked first try. Anyone know another way around this? I really don't want to expose more than I have to to shtty chinese commie companies.

Sometimes the issue flips: Reddit is inaccessible on the Mullvad browser but works on LibreWolf, yet LibreWolf never connects to Google while channeled through the VPN proxy. It should go without saying that YouTube doesn’t work either.

Am I misconfiguring something? Is using both a proxy and VPN in the browser excessive? The Mullvad browser is more reliable, but I prefer LibreWolf for its extensions. Constantly switching between them defeats my goal of browser isolation.

Was working before today and the computer app still works (although sometimes when I open the app on the computer it's just white, but it still seems to auto connect). What's going on?

Will there be a Mullvad chrome extension? I frequently have different browsers opened with different connections using proton or nord and this is not something I can do with the standalone app. Wondering if a Chrome extension was in the works or planned?

It's good to keep up with the latest and greatest in technology but often times it breaks the back of the unaware/underprivileged. Paying five euros alone is a premium amount contrary to popular belief and recently Mullvad announced removal of OpenVPN and becoming WireGuard only network. This gonna hurt many.

It is a cat and mouse game. One protocol fails and new one takes its place. There is a strength in options. Complete reliance on one is concerning. Many firewalls allow OV over TCP without issues but they might not do that for WG. Mullvad, if think again about the world more broadly than will see how multiple options can help more. And also OV is supported by more devices and could allow users to continue using it.

If Mullvad is truly devoted to serve such population than I hope they revert their decision. Users should not suffer unnecessarily. People are already living in dire situations and they'd need help. WG even with new obfuscation methods still will be single point of failure to connect to the Internet.

To be honest, Mullvad team need to visit the more surveilled nations and feel the suffering of people to understand the ground reality. Yes, OV has more lines of codes but there is but one life! Motto should be about serving as many as possible and allowing better compatibility.

I wish and I really hope they don't discontinue OpenVPN.

I'm trying to play cod bo6 with my friends on discord. Unfortunately discord is banned in my country so I have to use vpn. But I can't play with vpn on because the game stutters. Ever since the iOS 18 update, I noticed my 15 Pro would get hot after using the Amazon app, even if for just a minute. It would also drain my battery very quickly, sometimes dropping a percent per minute.

After remembering that Mullvad sometimes causes issues with some apps, I decided to test the Amazon app with Mullvad off and that fixed the issue.

Has anyone else had this issue since the iOS 18 update? Is this a known issue?

If I run all my traffic through Mullvad, why do other apps use more data? Mullvad is always turned on and without a VPN connection it disconnects. Where is my fault?

Hello community!

I'm looking for help with a question regarding using Mullvad browser with a different VPN (not Mullvad). I couldn't find a definitive answer wether I should switch the DNS over HTTPS setting from Max Protection to Default or Increased Protection.

If I understand correctly, by having Max Protection turned on, my DNS inside the browser is resolved by Mullvad DNS but if I switch it to a lesser protection option, it would use my VPN's DNS. I use another trusted VPN.

I don't know what's the recommended solution here and I request the community's help on this one. Thanks in advance for your replies!

I just installed it now on Bazzite. Are there potential problems like the mullvad service stopping after an update and has to be manually started via command line?

Any potential leaks? Since I assume it's not as thoroughly tested on atomic desktops compared to a standard desktop.

Usually, I find a server is down and switching my endpoint fixes everything. No luck this time. It looks like my DNS is not getting populated for anything outside of a few sites. If I try to Google something I get Google search results, but clicking on a link just times out.

I've tried about 8 different endpoints with no luck. If I do not go out through Mullvad my internet speed is perfectly fine.

Hello there Since few days I've noticed that my torrenting downloadinf was not going over 10 Mbit/s were some times ago it was rather around 60 Mbit/s

For the setup:

My VM is runing a debian 12

I use qbitorrent-npx-static.

I passthru the VM one of my physical NIC.

To be able to access the VM and qbitorrent over the LAN I activate the mullvad lan option.

I was allways using Wireguard servers, but when I really noticed the download speed problem I've try openvpn servers and problem is the same.

However when I use openvpn and do ethtool on the virtual nic that mullvad create the speed showed is 10Mbit/s instead of 1000Mbit/s as it should be.

Does somebody have an idea of how I could fix that?

so me and my friend wants to share the same account while remaining anonymous to each other, would them seeing my wireguard key when logging onto the site put me at risk? and if so what risk, what can they find out?

and are there any settings i should know of, that are more important than others? i just got mullvad today.
