In public places, I have to quit Mullvad to get on the internet, as it does not connect otherwise. Is there a Mullvad setting that would allow me to use it in public places like Starbucks, cafes, hospitals, even on an airplane, etc.?

I don't know if anyone has run into this or it is just an oddity that I am facing. After an update Mullvad started creating complications that present differently depending upon the browser. Some of the time when connecting or during the connection it will clear all cookies and active sessions in Chrome. Additionally, some downloads through Chrome are constantly dropped while others continue smoothly. In Firefox, some websites, such conducting a google search are not accessible while connected. When on different WiFi the problem can be dramatically reduced but at times has still reoccurred.

No other changes were made around the time the problem began and the speed of the internet shouldn't be an issue for any of the locations.

I downloaded Malwarebytes for some virus scan earlier today and noticed that despite I have Mullvad VPN on, Malwarebytes is detecting the actual server location as well as my Actual IP address.

Has anyone had this experience?

Not a techie - using Mullvad with OpenVPN (as I have to use that for work). I tried half a dozen configurations, result is the same. Did something change, or is it me?

About the title, I am with another company with dueble-hop, while waiting for double-hop to be on Android with Mullvad, at that time I will switch to Mullvad, but I was thinking, I am not very technical, if I really need double-hop with DAITA, since checking the last beta of mullvad for Android already includes DAITA.

Was so relieved to finally see this problem addressed in the new beta version of Mullvad (2024.6 beta 1 for Mac). I toggled on the "Apple services bypass" but it didn't work. Has anyone tried it and been successful?

I I find it hard to get DAITA to work on my laptop, it works on my phone no problem in the country I’m in , but when

I try to turn it on , on my laptop I can’t get a connection, it will work with everything else turned on , multihop & Quantum tunnel etc

But as soon as I put DAITA on I lose connection, Does anyone know a fix..? Or having the same issue.?

Thanks in advance

For some reason my new phone telecom operator blocks Wireguard, not just with Mullvad but with any VPN.

Mullvad with OpenVPN works perfectly on my windows laptop though.

However all I see on my Android app is Wireguard. I don't see any other connection method. Is it me and I can't find it or is Wireguard the onlyoway to connect in Androids?

Thank you fellas!

So basically I have Mullvad VPN on my pc and phone and only on those devices. Recently I had an issue with ordering from subway on a tablet (that is not on a VPN) where I would get a message that I was blocked from visiting that site. Could access the site from my pc (with the VPN, but not without) Kinda wrote it off as some weird one off occurrence and didn’t think much further into it.

Now yesterday my WatchFree+ (free live tv) on a Vizio smart tv stopped working (it would boot me out to HDMI1 almost instantly). Tried accessing the site on my pc (vpn enabled) and got that same message as when visiting subway. Turned off my vpn and was able to connect to the site without issue. I then tried WatchFree+ on the tv while my pc’s VPN was disabled and all of a sudden it works again.

Why would a device with VPN enabled be affecting devices that do not have VPN enabled?

Potentially related side note: I was banned from SteamDB (quite a while ago) when I was using Nord VPN due to data scraping (don’t even know what that is). Recently (on Mullvad) I also got a 10 minute timeout from Nexus Mods due to, I believe it was, high network traffic, which the error message said was DDoS protection. Not sure if these are related, but it seems like very odd network issues have been occurring ever since I started using VPN’s.

Anyone else have this problem? It gives me a DNS error (hostname not resolved). Same with any VPN server. I dont have the social media filter on in the Mullvad DNS settings. I also tried setting a custom DNS like 1.1.1.1 but it didn't help.

The strange thing is that if I install the mobile app, it has no problem connecting behind the VPN. Only the browser doesnt work. Tried with multiple browsers.

My friend is a server owner. He was recently in an attack of a hacker that was using Mullvad VPN. We tried to follow leads that *may* help us but it was no use. He blackmailed him just to keep his server up. We are thinking of taking legal action (informing local authorities) but Mullvad is a zero-log VPN. Is it possible to find out the person behind this or is this just a dead end?

The beta software has been out for months, what are we even doing here? Why am I paying for this?

Hey everyone,

I've been searching for a VPN free trial without needing to use a credit card. I know it can be tough to find a provider that offers a free trial VPN without requiring payment details upfront, but I’m hoping someone here knows of a good option.

Ideally, I’m looking for a VPN with free trial that lasts at least 30 days, so I can properly test the service before committing to a subscription. I’ve seen some options, but many still ask for credit card details, which I’d prefer to avoid.

If anyone on VPN free trial Reddit has come across a solid VPN trial without needing a credit card, I’d really appreciate your recommendations!

Quantum secure tunnels are taking upwards of 10 seconds to connect every time. I asked support and they told me there's nothing in the logs to indicate a problem, which suggests they brushed off my problem and aren't pursuing it further. Does anyone else have this problem? Standard (non-resistant connections) are as fast as always, so I could use that, but if there's a problem with their implementation I'd hope they're at least aware and looking into it. What is everyone else's experience?

straight to the rabbit hole:

  1. Just like any other, they have "business" partnership and there is no idea about who these are?
  2. Less servers in EU including home country Sweden than to say US. If you truly advocate privacy than this should change.
  3. The audits are done under a "restrictive" selected choices given to auditors. And funny thing is these so called audits are paid unlike a more stringent independent and open access kind of audit. Can you really trust theese paid auditors? who knows.........
  4. Never I have seen anything like a forum or AMA on reddit? engaging with users is important. only few social media handles which again limits the user interaction
  5. No business info is actually public. Zilch! Nada! They wont talk about this part anywhere.
  6. Iceland is known for liberty and privacy around the globe but Mullvad has zero servers there!! On the contrary the UK gets more love than even EU.
  7. I'd never understand why they partenered with Tor team to introudce Mullvad Browser? Heres the confusion. Tor team actually makes it and Mullvad deploys it with their own VPN as an offering. If you rally wanna be transparent than this browser should not even hav gotten any VPN and remain neutrall right? Just a hardenened fox
  8. they shockingly dont have DAITA featured servers in Sweden!! own nation is left out?? this step alone speaks about how business is more of a priority
  9. and of course core source code of severs and DNS are closed ! ka boom!
  10. forgot to add this and had to double check but Mullvad is one of the most prominent donors to Tor Project (good for them!!) and now the Tor team partnered with them to provide Mullvad browser!! this step is so wrong on so many levels. A sponsor got the contract from the developers they donate to?? again m not the one to judge but seems weird. . . ...

yea yea I am looking for my tin foil hat :D

I'm wondering if the ISP or browser could see and log the account number when I click "generate account number" on Mullvad's website.

Is it wise to use a free VPN when I first generate my Mullvad account number? Or should I generate the account number while using free wifi somewhere public? I'm curious whether everyone was concerned about this or not.

My system is Ubuntu 24 using openvpn 2.6.9.

Spent 10+ hours trying to find a solution. I follow Mullvad's instructions like like a bible.

I can only connect ONE time, then have to literally go through the entire installation process again. I really can't understand why it only connects one time. I do every step in the OpenVPN for Linux guide.

Why? and what is nohup and why can't it start withou nohup?
