I'm using UK servers and am based in the UK. It is frequently disconnection for an instance and then reconnecting almost straight away automatically - it's doing this numerous times every few minutes it seems.

This is listed in the changes for 2024.5:

Added

  • Add DAITA (Defence against AI-guided Traffic Analysis) setting for Linux and macOS.
  • Add --json flag to mullvad status CLI.

Does this mean it's an option the user has to enable via the CLI, or is it saying it is enabled by default? Does anyone know the terminal command to check one way or the other?

If I have to add it (not a Linux affianado, sorry) would the command be:

mullvad status --json

?? Thanks for any guidance!

Like don't get me wrong, this is great, but I'm kind of worried. Before it took around 3 or 4 seconds for the tunnel to connect (makes sense tbh), but now it's suddenly sub-second. Anyone else experiencing this?

I must preface this post by saying I don't know a lot about VPN's and how they work but was hoping someone could explain to me why when I connect to the Mullvad South African server, I get given an IP address in the 154.47.30.0/24 range which is confirmed by visiting https://browserleaks.com/ip and https://whatismyipaddress.com/

Checking the DNS server used via https://dnsleaktest.com/ and https://browserleaks.com/dns, it shows that Mullvad's 154.47.30.143 server is being used. This is listed as one of Mullvad's in this list https://whoisyourvpn.com/servers/mullvad/

Why then, when I go to the proxycheck website does it report the address as belonging to PIA (PrivateInternetAccess)? Link: https://proxycheck.io/v2/154.47.30.143?vpn=1&asn=1

That it only say it is faster in the website description. that personally i prefer safety over speed. Plus i got like 1000mb internet.

that i just want to know that will it is safer to use max protection. or it is will as safer or worse.

that it is will as safe using both together but slower i would keep it.

That beucase i always forget to turn on my VPN

Thanks

Edit 2

Ok i look at DNS leak make me realize i shoudl turn on right. Tell me if i am wrong thansk.

If I pay my isp $10/mo to remove CGNAT and use Mullvad or similar for p2p, game server, etc., does Mullvad block the ports you have open on the router/os?

i recently made parrot the OS of a shity laptop i plan on using and was wanting to put Mullvad on it. And saw a post about 9 months back saying it wasn't working and that seems to be the only thing i can find about Mullvad and Parrot. (I'm new to this stuff so i might be over my head) any input would be helpful.

So heres my situation, i have a B550 Aorus Elite rev 1.3 that suddenly stopped working the realtek 2.5Gbps network adapter, forcing me to use a usb wifi adapter. With my 300mbps fiber i used to get around 200mpbs on the adapter so i thought hey, let me get a usb to Rj45 gigabit adapter, that should do it right? and it did.

However, when trying to use mullvad VPN on any server at all, it never goes above 10-12mpbs.

I know that this isnt a mullvad issue at all (my GF's pc works just fine on her b450 Asus Prime with integrated adapter), its just my PC. I also did went through the rabbit hole of the B550's from gigabyte that has this issue and got no luck at all (wich is why i ended up buying the adapter).

Any ideas what i can try to do to fix this? or the only solution would be a pcie network adapter? cause if so, my gpu is 3 slot wide and its covering all of the remaining pcie's :(

I checked the logs of my WIFI router while looking for why my network may be slow. And I found that every 5 minutes to 2 hours, I get an error that my Deco WIFI blocked an attempted connection to ipv4.am.i.mullvad.net. With Classification: Proxy Avoidance.

The thing is, I don't use Mullvad on my Mac and I'm 99% sure I never have.

So it appears my computer is trying to connect to this website behind the scenes, but I don't know why.

There is a bug when the split tunneling is on, any app on exclusion list still passes through vpn.

Another issue is about the disk access... Mullvad can't have it's toggle on in settings.

Is there a way to make an exclusion app works?

The website says it's in "Advanced > VPN settings >  WireGuard settings > Enable multihop", but my android app in a 2024 version doesn't show any "Advanced" option, or at least I can't find it.

Extra question: can I set up my own self-hosted wireguard/openvpn server as the exit node? If not does anyone know any VPN server with an app that allows it?

Thanks!

I am using Windows and am tired of challenges and blockages using Mullvad. How do I get around it. I have tried various things and have more blockages. I also use a lot of Add ons and my used browswers are Libre wolf and Firefox (the orignal version when Libre wolf cannot be used)

I got Mullvad for one singular purpose, which was to watch Stremio without getting dinged by my ISP. It was always pretty shaky when I tried to use it, sometimes needing to switch VPN several times, but now it doesn't work at all. Anytime I try to watch anything, the loading bar doesn't even start and after a minute or so I get hit with "The source is poorly available or your internet connections is not fast enough". I'm connecting to servers in Los Angeles, which I am near. If I disconnect from Mullvad and risk torrenting on my real connection, the video will load instantly, so the issue 100% lies with Mullvad.

Anything I can do or is this just the reality? That Mullvad is good for privacy but terrible for load speeds and detection? (Detection meaning, that I often get blocked from sites like Reddit or Youtube while using Mullvad because they know I'm using a VPN.)

Just wondering can the ISP know your connecting to Mullvad VPN?

and if so how could that be subverted?

Hello,

Mozilla Firefox provides "Max Security DNS" option, where it allows only Cloudfare/NextDNS/Custom(???) to be used.

Technically speaking, would it be safer (for privacy) to use Mullvad's own DNS service, or can I rely on NextDNS while having the same level of security (considering I "trust" these other DNS providers)?

I noticed that using Cloudfare/NextDNS results in "DNS leak detected" warning on the Mullvard's site ("Check Leaks" section), but the DNS is still set to the location according to the used VPN server. What to make of this? - I would assume it is to be expected and the DNS is still secure, but I can't be sure.

I'd appreciate any input. Thank you for any answers!
