I usually use Mullvad browser for all my logins. i use brave for reading articles because I can use the dark reader extension and dont do anything sensitive in brave.

However, is this a bad idea to stay logged in on Mullvad browser? What is the right way to do this?

I noticed that I cannot connect to the cameras or router via my LAN while connected to Mullvad on my iPhone. It looks like the option of allowing access to the IP addresses in the local network was removed from the iOS app?? There is no such option available anymore.

Why? This is a huge annoyance.

Just wanted to ask others if they were having the same issue as me.

On Android and trying to connect to any server with the quantum-resistant tunnel setting enabled results in no connection being made.

As soon as I disable that setting, I get a connection almost immediately.

I did see on their Mastodon page that they were performing maintenance last week, but not sure if that's related.

Hello,

I installed Mullvad today on my new device (Honor Magic 6, Android 14). It says I should go to VPN config to activate Always-on VPN.

But I don't have the gear icon next to the Mullvad VPN entry.

Anyone else ? Any solution ?

My configuration is Mullvad (Wireguard) installed on the router.

IVPN app (Wireguard) installed on the PC.

I installed the official Wireguard client on Android and used Mullvad.

I have had no problems with this configuration for over two years.

But things have changed in the past few days.

Neither IVPN on the PC nor Mullvad on Android can connect at all, or even if they do connect, the speed is so slow that it is unusable.

I tried installing the official Mullvad app on both the PC and Android, but even though it is Mullvad, it does not connect at all, or even if it does connect, it is still unusable.

I tried changing Mullvad on the PC to OpenVPN, and all servers could be connected, but the speed remains terrible.

I decided to install IVPN on the router. Then I was able to connect to Mullvad on the PC and Android without any problems, and the speed was the same as before.

I also tried installing ProtonVPN (Wireguard) on the router, and it connected smoothly as well.

I contacted Mullvad support and was disappointed with the surprisingly nonsensical answers.

"Try using TCP443 with OpenVPN" "Are you connected via Wifi?"

(It took me over 24 hours to get this answer...horrible support)

My conclusion is that there must have been some big change in the way Mullvad connects in the last few days, but I can't find any information about it anywhere.

Does anyone know what changes Mullvad made?

My idea is to deploy a docker container as a proxy server so anything connected to it would have it's traffic routed through mullvad VPN. Is there any documentation for a setup like this? It's important that this proxy server supports SOCKS5, as one of the things connect would be a qBittorrent client running in a docker container

So i’ve been trying to accces this site, I’m running linux, timezone is set properly, I’m using the latest client, yet i’m stuck on that “just a moment, Verifying you are human.. this may take a few seconds” message

It started yesterday. The site works on the same system without a vpn, on the same browser.

This is frustrating

So, I'm new to using mullvad, and I noticed that my download speed is pretty slow, I get that they can't maintain 70 mbps a second due to reasons, but is there any way to find a good server for my connection?

Hello, I have downloaded the portable version of Mullvad and used it for some time, but now after moving its location it loaded a new profile and i don’t know how to get my old one back..

I thought it would preserve the profile like any regular browser but it didn’t .

I searched the ~ /Appdata folder where usually profiles get stored there, but nothing. Not only that, I cannot find any help online regarding this topic . Please help..

TBH I struggle to justify the cost of a VPN but am willing to if I can split the cost with someone. What's the deal with that is it possible? Will the account be terminated if we try/persist doing it? As mentioned we live in 2 different locations within the same city.

In the UK 6 months of Mullvad is equivalent to £4 when purchased using Amazon Voucher. Would paying using Monero make the monthly price significantly cheaper than that?

I have never bought Crypto and it seems like a lot of hurdles finding a wallet and platforms with the chepeast gas/electricity fees etc.

I am using Mullvad Browser and they warn people not to add any filter list to uBlock Origin. But how about adding ad blockers at the router level? Does it change my browser fingerprint and make me stand out?

I have 2 packages installed on my OpenWrt router:

  1. Adblock
  2. BCP38 (preventing your network's contribution to some types of DoS/DDoS attack)

Should I remove these packages so I won't stand out?

Im using some P2P stuff and Id like to allow it to run while fully excluding my servers and media hosting stuff, as it cuts out otherwise.

Ive added like every executable from jellyfin and cloudflared (my tunneler) to allow them to have normal network access, yet sometimes they still cut out while the VPN is running.

Anyone have any ideas? Is it possible Im just missing an executable to exclude?

I know it's basic, switched location because site was blocking vpn ip address. Never considered if I was exposed even for a millisecond by doing that.

Title. I want to keep the same internal ipv4 address the mullvad network interface uses instead of it changing what feels like every week. Is this possible? If so, how? Cheers :)

While it could be something different, I'll suppose this is related to the same DNS issue first reported a couple weeks ago. That was confirmed and after an update supposed to be fixed, kind of, but turns out it isn't. Please note that in contrast to the original trigger, the following unfortunately is not easily reproducible. Or if it is, I couldn't yet figure out how. It's highly intermittent and I'm not sure what exactly leads to it, or it only being indicated sometimes, but the steps I did before and (I think) their order are known. At this point I'd strongly recommend to suspect it's possibly an issue at all times, and under many circumstances just not symptomatic to the casual user or at UI level.

So far I've only seen it on the following site: https://ip8.com/

It's got a new feature, a very simple "privacy" meter, where in particular your "IP's" (suppose DNS) time zone differing from your system's is detrimental to a privacy score, which is perhaps debatable but here irrelevant. Just for kicks I want to get 100% even with a Mullvad server in a very different time zone, so using Android 13 (GPS/Location off, Mullvad not in auto-connect or lockdown) and Brave browser, while my system starts out in local TZ (i.e. UTC+2) I do the following:

  • connect Mullvad to a server on the US East Coast
  • go to Android settings and change region/TZ to EDT
  • open Brave, a private tab, and visit ip8.com

Next, usually everything is as expected. Periodically though it isn't at all, and I get only about 90% and the following remarkable results:

  • ip8 shows my system's time correctly, as EDT (Brave doesn't spoof)
  • ip8 shows my IP address correctly, i.e. Mullvad's US server
  • ip8 confirms "DNS servers in same country as IP"
  • ip8 still warns that "IP time" and system's differ

Whenever that happens, it'll have my IP's still at UTC+2. Which makes no sense, though being my ISPs actual time zone I assume it's DNS. Probably, ip8 does those tests independently, that is once for ISP time zone, which is where the leak occurs, and then another for DNS/IP correlation, where for whatever reason it not longer occurs, hence the inconsistency.

Mullvad's site does not indicate any leaks, nor does any other I tried. It was always the first thing I did after connecting Mullvad, and simply closing the tab, waiting a minute, and retrying fixes the issue.

On Android I have some apps locked inside the Work Profile. I need to add some of them to the exception list in Mullvad so they don't go through the VPN, but they don't show in the list. Probably because Mullvad is not in the Work Profile, but in the main one.

In the Settings, though, one can see all apps: the ones in the Work Profile show up as being for another user.

How can I get the apps in the Work Profile to be added to the exclusion list in Mullvad?

Hello, has anyone asked or considered enabling the user to rename devices on the account page? I keep logging out the wrong ones...

My Mullvad (2024.3 ver) disconnected frequently in past few days. Usually around 5-6 times through out the day. I want to know if this is a common occurrence.

I used Slovakia (Bratislava) and Denmark (Copenhagen) server often. They were fine and stable before. But since the start of this week, both disconnects frequently and I have keep switching server to make it work.

Title says most of what I wanted to know.

My biggest worries are to make sure the surveillance from advertising companies built into windows, android, iOS and mac are blocked.

I have other things to block ads with, I really just need the native tracking on all my devices to be blocked.

If mullvad won't say what filters they use, I just need to know whether or not they block that stuff at the very least
