Title. I plan to migrate a computer that my little brother often uses from windows to Bazzite. He can navigate windows fine but he downloads a lot of junk. I'm hoping a more simplified OS that simultaneously doesn't let you run whatever .exe file you grab off the internet will curb his habit and mitigate some of the possible damage he can cause.

The computer is down my grandmother's and I live a bit away so I can't run down and monitor everything he downloads so, I've already taught him to use "the green lock" (mullvad) whenever he uses the computer. It doesn't stop him but it keeps my grandma from being on the hook with xfinity because he downloaded an nes rom or something.

When I do change it to Bazzite or another Linux distribution I want to make sure it's just as simple and intuitive for him to turn the VPN on after I set this up so he or my grandmother don't need to call me when he wants to use it. If Bazzite doesn't have it what're some other options? I'm aware fanagling with wireguard/openvpn files along with a script on startup can do this as well but I'm looking to do this as simply and quickly as possible as I'm going to have to do the entire process (salvaging whatever I know isn't malicious+deleting windows+installing everything back including Mullvad) while he's asleep.

I moved over my Mullvad VPN to another Mac at least 3 months ago. Took Mullvad out of Mac startup apps, Trust me, I know it isn't running.

ipinfo.io, speedtest.net, anywhere tell me I'm using my ISP's IP. Yet I open up Wikipedia and it's asking me to donate in kr. Swedish currency, Sweden is the only server I connected to while Mullvad was run on this Mac, so I feel there's a reasonable connection I'm making in my head...

What to do to fix this/update how the browser is using an old VPN connection location?

A nonprofit is not driven by generating profit and therefore the motivation is very different than for profit companies. Both have upsides and down sides.

You guys know how many of such projects operate successfully such as Wikipedia, Signal, Tor Project etc. yea, this is not apple to apple comparision at all but jut saying. These are making millions in revenue if numbers to go by.

As Mullvad is run by quite few employees with in house support (a big plus tbh), i was thinkin what if they pivot to becoming a non profit? Many many would be ready to help including privacy advocates to even well wishers and I am wildly guessing their user base is already in millions now in order to sustain further.

I imagine rahter Mullvad becoming so crucial to privacy that donors won't allow it fail and continue poring support coz they'd know how it stands out from the rest

I never copied my account number, I'm so used to just copying it from the account page that I clicked past it when renewing. Support won't help me because I don't have a TxID but I have the correct deposit address, the amount, day and time. What can I do? Is there a support team on this subreddit that could help?

So i'm using the bridge in the APP, Shadowsocks, and i'm also running the full system wide Local Proxy (10.8.0.1). Is there any benefit to this or is this over kill? Yes i know it adds more latency to my connection. but am i setting this up wrong or should i just us the bridge and be done......... what exactly is happening when i setup my connection this way? can someone explain? As the titles states. I no longer see the Mullvad issued IPv6 address on their connection check page nor the “Out” section of their Android or iOS/iPadOS app. The IPv6 address is still issued since I can see it on other connection checking websites, so I assume it’s an issue with their the API? Anyone else experiencing this?

using mullvad on ios and macos. macos is fine most of the time. but on ios i have the frequent situation where i have a very slow connection. then i switch servers, the wifi or mobile data symbol flips once showing the vpn symbol and my connection is fast again.

this really is annoying, since i constantly need to switch through the servers to keep everything running.

also, this is a problem after a phone call. most times i need to manually switch servers here too, otherwise i have no connection.

why is it so inconvenient? how can i streamline this whole thing so i dont have to do stuff manually 10 times a day?

When I type something in address/search bar in Firefox, nothing happens. In developer tools I see failing requests all with 0B sends and error NS_ERROR_FAILURE.

It started happening today. It's not working only in Firefox, in Safari everything works with Mullvad on. When I turn off Mullvad connection, Firefox starts to work.

When I enable Ipv6 it starts to work in Mozila, but why it's now required?

Hello folks!

I'm having troubles by configuring Mullvad Wireguard VPN through VPN Fusion on my ASUS GT-BE98 running latest firmware version (3.0.0.6.102_34372).

I followed the (insufficient) instructions step by step but the VPN doesn't connect.

I tried with other VPN Services like NordVPN, Express VPN and SurfShark VPN and I have no issue at all.

I don't want to use OpenVPN because of obvious reasons.

I generated a Wireguard Key trying both Linux and Android/ChromeOS but it still doesn't work.

I setup the profile in this way:

Country: Italy

City: Milan

Server: it-mil-wg-001

Multihop: tried both enabled or disabled but same results

Server connection protocol: IPv4

Tunnel traffic: IPv4 only because my ISP doesn't support IPv6 (tried also "both", same results)

Custom port: 51820 (it's the default value)

Enable Kill Switch: not flagged

Content blocking: None

Then I downloaded the .conf file and I imported it on my GT-BE98; I just clicked on "Apply and Enable", rebooted the router and after reboot it always says "Tryng to connect..."

I can't figure out where the issue is. Is there anyone who can assist me?

PS: my Router doesn't support OpenWRT and even if it did support it I would never install it.

I am in China and currently only have one UnionPay debit card (I plan to apply for a visa or MasterCard bank card, but I don’t have enough time).

Have tried using debit card on mullvad but don't know why it said "The response sent by vacsverify.unionpay.com is invalid."

I also tried buying on Amazon (I actually used a $29 gift card on Amazon), but buying Mullvad VPN scratch cards requires a valid bank card, but Amazon does not accept UnionPay debit cards (it only UnionPay credit cards are supported), and Mullvad VPN scratch cards do not support delivery to China.

If possible, can you give me a 6-month Mullvad voucher?

Hello,

I have an issue where if I do mullvad lan set block (which is supposed to block all LAN connections), I lose access to my virtual machines (running with virt-manager)

This is of course by design, and I am supposed to use mullvad split-tunnel pid add <PID>, but no matter what PIDs associated with virt-manager I allow, I still can't access my VMs.

So what solution would be the best in my case?

I recently installed Mullvad VPN, and if I have "Max Protection" turned on in the Mullvad Browser, I cannot go to any website (including Mullvad's) without getting the message

"Possible security risk looking up this domain"

"Mullvad Browser wasn’t able to connect to dns.mullvad.net."

If I switch from "max protection" to "strict protection", then I don't have this issue.

Is there something special I was supposed to do with my setup so that I can keep Max Protection on while the VPN is connected?

I'm on macOS, btw.

I changed today my phone, a Xiaomi Redmi with HyperOS, Android 14.

I notice that when I close all the open apps, using X button, also Mullvad gets disconnected. This didn't happen on my old Realme Pro 7. Mullvad was immune from the X all-apps-closing. It is really annoying .. is there any workaround ?

Also, on Android 14 I am able to completely dismiss the VPN /Mullvad notification, while in the old phone I couldn't.

I just bought mullvad and I'm trying to acces OfferUp, which is a website you can only acces if you're in US.

I have my vpn turned on (U.S location) but it still won't let me. Any advice?

Hi peeps. Sophos endpoint rsa root is blocking certificates for some sites . mullvad set to open vpn with bridging enabled and using mullvad browser.

Tor seems to get passed it.

Any settings I may have missed ?
