Mullvad VPN

For about an hour now, uploads have been unusually slow across all servers, while my download speed remains unaffected.

This isn't the first time this has happened; last time, I believe it was limited to Server 31173.

I've been trying out rental servers from various countries, but they're all equally slow. Can someone explain the reason behind this?

PS. I contacted my ISP and it seems there's a network outage...

Normal behavior for the Mullvad Browser is to delete all browsing info on exit thereby closing all open sites including pinned ones.

I'd like to make an exception for pinned sites, so that when I pin a site it re-opens as a pinned tab on next browser start. Only enough info saved after browser exit that these pins re-open on next browser launch, nothing more. Is there a way to make this happen? A setting or extension or something?

My download speed is 140Mb/s without Mullvad, but drops to 200Kb/s with it on. This can't be normal surely.

Currently in Vietnam re-routing through UK for Netflix. I understand there will be some slowdown but surely not this much.

I have a 100MBit line, but the download rates with mullvad wireguard are often < 10% of that. It was better until a few weeks ago and I don't know what has changed.

I run mullvad at home on 3 devices. The same can be observed on all of them, whether wired or wireless.

The upload rates are good, close to the maximum possible.

It doesn't matter which country's access point I choose. I have downloaded all nodes and use them randomly. Even a server in my home country has poor download rates.

Via the internet connection in the office it works very well!

Can only be due to the operator (vodafone Germany) or the Fritzbox. And I haven't changed anything on the Fritzbox.

Has anyone had similar experience or been in the same situation?

What can I do?

Has something fundamental changed at mullvad?

I use openSUSE Tumbleweed with nmcli.

hello, i m having weird issue with my Mullvad VPN and wondering if anyone knows cause or fix for this problem.

On TOP bar of the windows there is mini icon of Mullvad. When i click on it VPN window opens. When i try to go down with mouse it closes. Now i have to search mullvad vpn app and get into it in order to connect or disconnect. Its very frustrating and screws my workflow and need to find solution. Any advice aprreciated.

Im on an iphone 12 lastest ios. Private relay is enabled. I use mulvad Vpn. I get a warning message when connecting to my wifi stating that the network blocks encrypted DNS. Can it actually block encrypted DNS or monitor DNS if Im connected to my VPN?

About a week ago, I noticed my Mullvad folder on Linux was over 100MB. It only stood out, because I recalled from checking a while ago that it took less than 60MB on a fresh install.

Out of curiosity, I removed Mullvad (Flatpak) and deleted the folder, then reinstalled and on a fresh install it was only 56MB.

I also noticed that the number of files changes from around 108 to 118 files. I know some are the profile files from after first opening, but then after that the number seems to go up and down on occasion.

Looking at the processes, I can see the individual tabs don't ever write to disk directly, but the application itself does write dozens of MB over the course of a longer use session.

So my question is, Is there any documentation that shows what exactly is written to the Mullvad folder and where/when?

Anyone else experiencing this? I just started using Mullvad tonight on Fedora and downloaded the application just fine, but once I click to launch it it's taking like 3-5 minutes to launch. I've tried reinstalling, rebooting, etc and nothing's helped. Googling around doesn't seem to find much so I'm wondering if it's just a me problem.

I can't understand why the download of each new versions take more than 1hr on my 100mbps Internet, it downloads at 32kbps (and I'm not connected to the VPN while doing it to avoid slow downloads) I test my speed and its fine everywhere else.

Around 10hrs ago it just stopped working for me. Since then, tested against regular VPN and also changing Wireguard peer to se-mma-wg-002 and both were fine.

I see you can install this on an Asus router running Merlin Firmware; what about a modern Asus Router running stock Asus firmware?

Its simple to generate a config file with most other popular VPN's, but dont see how to do it with Mullivad..

I am using Mullvad Browser on my Mac, and it is using almost 4 GB at times using the same tabs as my Firefox or Safari browsers, and they are only using around 2 GB. Am I doing something wrong? And are other people having the same experience? Thank you all for taking the time to answer.

Hi, I have been having problems with mullvad for a few months now. It often fails to connect and blocks my connection giving me the error. Sometimes it works, it connects to the server but then when I go to disconnect mullvad blocks my internet access. The only way to unblock the connection is to restart the computer.

I wrote to support and from the logs they saw that some application or firewall is hindering mullvad. I have no antivirus or external firewall and have tried several times to reset windows firewall and reinstall mullvad.

The only way to get it working properly is to disable windows firewall so mullvad works perfectly.

I also tried creating a custom rule in windows firewall for mullvad but it didn't help.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Something changed within the last week, and so now running Mullvad exit nodes on and device breaks my voip audio. Specifically, when the Mullvad exit node is connected, the other party can still hear me but I can't hear them. Turn off the Mullvad exit node, problem goes away. It's completely repeatable. It worked a week ago, but now it doesn't.

Anybody else have any issue like this?

I've been following mullvad.net/en/help/dns-over-https-and-dns-over-tls guide and encountered an issue. I'm trying to set up dns over https for windows11, but it just doesn't work. I am in Russia (could that be the problem) and I'm using Brave browser.

When I set custom dns in wifi settings, none of the websites load. I tried both disabling the "use secure dns" setting in brave and choosing the "os default" option. However when I select the "add custom dns service provider" option in brave, it works.

Not sure why it doesn't work when setting up in windows11.
