This is another nuanced issue in the complex conflict that is on-going in Myanmar: India's Meitei rebels have been cooperating with the Burmese junta in Myanmar's civil war fighting along side them. And they are likely getting protection and arms from the Burmese military in their campaign in India.

The choice of “international observers,” however, seems to lean heavily toward countries that either do not hold elections or have perfected the art of removing all suspense from the outcomes.

The regime has also generously allowed domestic observers to apply, but anyone who dares to declare the election unfree, unfair, or lacking transparency risks up to seven years in prison under the junta’s new election protection law.
