Just like it sounds, I made a sea shanty about the latest Nano developer update meeting where it was revealed that Gustav has successfully ported the entire Nano project to Rust even while code is being actively worked on and changed.

Here it is:

ps. I also made songs about the previous 3 dev updates as well and just finally got around to posting them. check comments below.

Hello everyone!

I had a good amount of Nano on the Bitgrail exchange that was lost in the hack. I figured that it was just gone for good, so I forgot about it. But now I am seeing that some people did get their money back, so I'm curious as to how much I missed out on.

Could you give an update on if most people who filed claims ended up getting some of their money back? How much of it was returned? Was it returned in Nano or in fiat? If it was returned in fiat, how much was it worth?

Thank you!

I remember nano suffered from spam and other problems.

What's the situation now?

Up until 2023 I had been using Binance to trade $XNO Binance are no longer an option for me. Ive been reading reviews of other CEXs that accept UK users, but many of them have terrible customer reviews.

So my question is to anyone based in the UK, how are you buying your Nano? And why did you chose your chosen option?

I am happy to use a VPN and look at opening a 2nd bank account if necessary.

"Bitcoin is the digital gold"

"Litecoin is the digital silver"

"Ethereum is the digital oil"

And Nano is the digital cash.

I don't need all this digital whatever, I just need a good decentralised digital value transfer system.

The original purpose of cryptocurrency was to be inflation-proof, facilitate payments, and empower individuals to be their own banks. However, these days, many people store their coins on exchanges to earn interest, and meme tokens—created with a few mouse clicks—have exploded in popularity, boasting market caps in the billions. Meanwhile, currency-focused coins, developed over years by dedicated teams, remain largely unrecognized. It feels like a joke.

What direction is crypto really heading? The current state of the space seems far removed from its original intent, and I find it hard to make sense of it.

I’ve mostly held BTC and ETH over the past decade, but I’m under no illusion - Nano is hands down the best, most usable, practical cryptocurrency with the most potential for real world change.

It is very strange that it isn’t at least $100 honestly. Back in 2015, ETH had less going for it arguably, but within a couple of years it had rallied to $1500.

I’m very curious to see whether this time around we start to see some semblance of its utility reflected in price. Presumably if it could catch any sort of noticeable momentum it could end up snowballing into some number that seems impossible today.

I’ve been in the space longer than most, and it is very obvious to me that it is extremely, ludicrously undervalued.

What gives? Do people there think it is artificially suppressed in some way, or is it simply that not enough people know about it? I find either explanation to be lacking. Nano is well known - certainly enough to have caught a serious bid.

Original Title: Amazing milestone for Nano: "It's finally done - the RsNano code base is 100% #Rust. It took 3 years 6 months and 8 days to reach this goal. Thanks for all of the support and special thanks to Rui who put a lot of effort into this too!"

Everyone talks about the utility of nano, feeless, instant, decentralised etc. is there anything where you can literally pay and accept payments EASILY and instantly? I presume this would also be relative to the country’s currency too (ie merchant types in £1 and screen shows 0.91332 XNO which you then tap your phone to complete?

If not then I’m afraid it isn’t more useful than fiat

Those 1.67 million NANO were worth $25 million during the last bull run. Could it be that the keys were lost?

There are quite some questions lately about what people can do to help Nano, so I figured I'd make a non-exhaustive easy list of things anyone can do.

Least effort

  • Buy Nano and withdraw. Buying Nano is a positive buy pressure and makes price go up a little. Much as we hate to say it, positive price action is marketing all by itself. Withdrawing from exchange after buying amplifies this effect. It improves the decentralization of the network, which makes it more valuable. Make sure you store your seed securely when you do this.
  • Earn Nano. Can't buy? No problem. You can earn Nano which is great for you but again leads to positive buy pressure. There are quite some ways listed here, from watching ads, mining with CPU or GPU, referring people to NanoGPT, and checking out the Zealy/Prism initiative set up by Corican. It pays you Nano to do Nano-related things like liking posts, contacting businesses etc.
  • Spread the word about Nano businesses. Someone wants to swap? Nanswap is great. Looking to access AI tools? NanoGPT takes Nano and convert other crypto/profits into Nano. Looking for hosting solutions? Armour Hosting is a Nano business.
  • Help people try out Nano. Someone wants to try out Nano? Explain to them how to get a wallet, send them a little bit, let them know about faucets.

Bit more effort

  • See a post where Nano or a Nano-related business seems relevant? Mention it, in a way that's actually helpful to the person. It's better to do a well-thought through reply to 1 person than a spammy reply to 5.
  • Contact businesses about Nano. If there are businesses that are already using crypto for payments or for payouts, those are clearly open to it. Explain the benefits adding Nano can have, refer to easy ways to integrate payments (like NanoPay). If it's a service that lets you earn Nano let them know websites like NanoGPT would gladly refer to them for the "Earn" page. The important aspects for businesses are 1) how hard is this to integrate and 2) is it worth it. So make it as easy as possible for them to start integrating it, and explain that the community is big enough and has proven usecases (again, frankly NanoGPT works well here) to demonstrate how useful it is.
  • Contact podcasts. I did some podcasts recently, George has done quite a few in the past. They're a great way to spread the word about Nano, and podcasters usually like it when people are recommended to them. If there are podcasts you'd like to see someone on to talk about Nano, take some time to write to them explaining why you think it would be an interesting podcast.

Harder but super helpful

  • Help with the Nano software. This takes time to get into, but is extremely helpful. There is always more work to do on the node software, and the core team does this voluntarily. The Nano Discord will gladly welcome you in and help you out in getting started - any contribution, no matter how small makes a huge difference in the long run.
  • Help with Nano-related code. As some examples, Frakilk created a JS library for people to use the NanoGPT API. That improves functionality of our service a lot, and it's fantastic. Dylan did a pull request on another service so that they could use NanoGPT in the backend. More possible examples would be finding out a way to add Nano to a DEX, to add Nano to things like BTCPayServer (again, Dylan is a legend for working on this) and there are many more options.

Finally I'd like to remind people it's also possible to donate to for example the development fund. This money is used to pay for extra development on the Nano software. Every Nano helps.

If people have more ideas I'd love to add them in. Nano is grassroots and community driven, frankly has one of the bigger and more active communities across all crypto, and all these little efforts really add up.

Is there a roadmap of what the plan is over the next few months to a year?

I'm thinking of setting up a dedicated server on Contabo for a nano node. I have run a node on standard hosting and it ran fine apart from generating work which could take a few minutes.

I want to be able to complete at least 1 work_generate a second. I understand a GPU would be better for this however due to budget would the below specks be able to perform this?

AMD Ryzen 9 7900 12 x 3.70 GHz

32Gb ram

1Tb NVMe storage

1 Gbit/s port

....

Thank you

Lets build pressure on nano side. Copy and paste everywhere. People cant buy and use what they don't know.

What is NANO crypto coin? What makes it amazing?

1-Feeless Transactions: One of the key advantages of Nano is that it offers feeless transactions. Unlike many other cryptocurrencies and traditional payment systems, Nano doesn't require transaction fees. This makes it an attractive option for microtransactions and everyday transactions where paying fees could be burdensome.

2-Instant Transactions: Nano aims to provide instant transactions, which means that the recipient receives the funds immediately. The Nano network achieves this by using a block-lattice data structure, where each account has its own blockchain. As a result, transactions can be confirmed and settled quickly, typically within a few seconds

3-Fixed Supply: Nano has a maximum supply of 133,248,297. According to the official website, all available NANO have been distributed. Nano was distributed by a faucet system. No pre mined, no ICO.

4-Scalability: Nano addresses the scalability issue commonly associated with blockchain-based cryptocurrencies by using a block-lattice structure, where each account has its own chain, Nano avoids the need for all transactions to be processed by every node on the network. This allows the network to handle a high volume of transactions without experiencing significant delays or congestion.

5-Energy Efficiency: Unlike Bitcoin It uses a protocol called directed acyclic graph (DAG) which, to put it simply, it transfers responsibility for doing what a blockchain should to individual users, rather than having a mining pool. This means, in essence, that it is a collection of individual ledgers, rather than a shared, worldwide, one. This method of design is called a blockchain lattice because, in effect, every user has their own blockchain..

6-Decentralization: Nano aims to maintain a high degree of decentralization. Nano’s open representative voting (ORV) validation method is quite different from the commonplace Proof-of-Work (PoW) method employed by Bitcoin and the Proof-of-Stake (PoS) method used by many others.

7-Wallet Support and User-Friendly Experience: Nano has a growing ecosystem of wallets and applications that support the cryptocurrency. This makes it easier for users to store, send, and receive Nano coins. Additionally, Nano's fast and feeless transactions provide a user-friendly experience for individuals and businesses using the cryptocurrency for daily transactions.

8-Community and Development: Nano has a passionate and active community that supports its development and adoption. The community actively contributes to the ongoing improvement of the protocol, fostering innovation and promoting the adoption of Nano in various use cases

Be your own bank!

Title, I've been trying for the past few hours to send Nano but it keeps failing to generate proof of work. I've tried every available server but unless its on "Random" it just says unable to connect to node. Help would be appreciated. Also are there any other good windows web wallets? Cant seem to find any others.

Edit: Tried the desktop Nault app and same thing happened.

Edit 2: Changed Server to SpyNano and it worked. Weird that it's the only server that works.
