I'm sure everybody here already knows but I don't pay enough attention and sent a large chunk of my Nano to binance. They have sending blocked for some reason, and there's no warning at least no warning I noticed that told me that before I sent it over. Does anybody know details on this? How long sending has been blocked and if there's a timeline on when it's going to be restored?

Just planning for future when nano goes to the moon how I'm gonna swap it to usdt. Currently sat on my exodus wallet, would rather not use any KYC exchanges. Will Exodus be able to handle big nano sums like 1m bucks? If not what are the alternatives?

In the last days we have seen a few spam attack, the attacker reached almost 1000bps~ and network was confirming at 15cps~

If the network is capable of doing 1000bps, why is it not also capable of doing 1000cps?

Will the network reach 1000cps in a near future?

Hello all!

Some sad news.

Background: Me and my family has gone and is still going through some rough times. And I didn't have any attention to my servers due to this. Due to electric installations, we had power outtage, and servers went offline.

Now, when I have some energy again, I started to boot up the servers, and can see that NanoIsByUs needs some work to come back online again. Seems that the database is corrupt and I think the best is just to start fresh again. I have some old id's and wallets, which I think is enough.

So the question is, due to the amount of already downtime, should I put the effort to get this node online again?

Thank you for your support and understanding!

Let's try and make the next raffle another successful one!

I have just kickstarted the pot with 19 NANO from my own wallet to speed things up. These are also used as entries so I am also in the running.

Hi all,

For Round 2 of the Community Dev Fund I had a total of 9 applications which were all really good. Because of the quality of the applications and also my realisation that it is probably better to fund projects now then wait another 6 months to fund a project I've decided to change the plan and fund all 9 projects. To fund this I am going to cancel Round 3 and 4 and instead use all the funds to fund the 9 projects, each will receive 450XNO. That will leave 650XNO to go towards some community governance particularly around .

Funds (I will send out the funds in the next 48hrs - I am still waiting on some details from one project):

Funded Projects:

RPC.Nano.To - (by Nano2dev) - This service is acting as a backend for a number of key projects including Cake Wallet, Nautilus Wallet, Nault.cc and Nault.Pro. The funds help maintain the server upkeep etc.

NanoNews - (by Zoyanx) - funding to help development of a crowdsourced short form news site with Nano rewards for accepted news stories.

Tip and Earn (tipandearn.com by xde33) - funding to help development of a social network with votes-tips and rewards also for tippers (promoting the fact of tip and using nano).

Nano Stealth Addresses - (by literally1894) - the funds will go towards exploration of this concept including development of proof of concept library and wallet.

Nano Gift (by write_int) - development of a platform to be used as a solution for bounties, giveaways and a tipjar for Nano. Will use the domain and the goal will be to potentially develop the project beyond a website including tipbots, browser extensions and even browser forks.

Actio - Activity Rewards Bot (by max.headroom.) - a bot for Twitch content creators and Discord server owners with which they can reward user activity. Users accumulate points for configurable actions (general chat activity, participating in contests, game tournaments, etc.) which can be redeemed for Nano.

Armour Hosting (by Brazyuk) - We provide Web, VPS and Dedicated Hosting services for customers on a global scale. Our eventual aim is to develop a user-friendly solution for users to provision their own Nano node through our website checkout process with little to no user input or requirements to login to your machine.

nano-frost (by fiono11) - exploration of developing FROST protocol including writing a library in Rust that implements the FROST protocol, a state of the art threshold signature scheme, that is compatible with Nano and then a Proof of Concept CLI implementation that uses the library. The most obvious application for this are wallets being able to provide t-of-n transfers. However, it can also be used for governance as a way to decentralize currently centralized apps that use Nano.

New Natrium Fork (led by Nano2dev) - Natrium has been a revolutionary wallet for Nano, this is a simple fork that will add the option to change backend node server and a custom PoW source, nothing more. Simplicity and long term stability is the goal.

Hello nano community, I'm reaching out to the community after a week of silence regarding an XNO deposit I made to my Crypto.com exchange wallet. Despite multiple attempts to contact their support team, l've received no response. The deposit in question is for 886.1452171 XNO, and the only communication I've had is a message stating: "You have a pending 886.1452171 XNO deposit to your XNO wallet. We will notify you when the deposit is confirmed." This situation is particularly frustrating because other exchanges seem to have no issues with XNO deposits and withdrawals. I'm at a loss for what to do next and would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions from anyone who might have experienced something similar. Has anyone else faced this issue? What steps did you take to resolve it? Thank you in advance for your help!

I am just impressed. I sent many transactions throughout the spam attacks and they all went through with a few seconds delay. Now, all the spam has been cleared and transaction are nearly instant. The devs did a great job with the spam resistance updates and I know they are working on making it even better. Nano is truly special and it keeps getting better.

Also noteworthy, I read Monero was spammed too. This is relevant because it shows even coins that have transaction fees can be spammed.

Our most exciting model addition yet: Claude is now available to everyone, no subscription needed.

Claude 3 Opus is the first truly competitive model with GPT-4. It outperforms GPT-4 on benchmarks, and in our testing performs better than GPT-4 across a wide range of queries.

Claude 3 Benchmarks

I've mostly started using Claude 3 Opus myself now, rather than GPT-4.

Try it out now for just a few cents to see how it compares for yourself. Keep in mind it is slightly more expensive than GPT-4. I think it's worth it, but as always see what works best for you.

We'd love to know your thoughts. We are considering whether this should become the default model for Nano-GPT, so we're very much looking forward to hearing what people think of Claude.

As always, more coming.

As many of you know, Nano's take on NFT's ("NaNFT's") made their debut about 2 months ago with the release of Nyano Cats, the first official collection on Nanswap Art. Since then, 3 more major collections have been created and the overall volume has exceeded Ӿ70,000 (~$110,000!).

I figured the success of these projects warrants an update for anyone who hasn't kept up with them, as they provide a unique use case for instantly buying and selling things with Nano, as well as a stepping stone for people coming from other blockchains who may be more familiar with traditional NFT's. Whether you're a fan of NaNFT's or not, their continued success benefits the Nano ecosystem and spreads the word about the fast and feeless currency we have all grown to love.

So here's a quick update on Nanswap's 4 major collections so far for anyone curious:

https://nanswap.com/art

1) Nyano Cats:

  • Nyano Cats features 10,000 unique cats with all sorts of traits - Nano collars, electricity, VR goggles, tuxedos, and more. As the first collection on Nanswap Art and the project that made the rest of them possible, several of the rarest cats have sold for over Ӿ1,000 each!

2) Broccoli Bros:

  • Created in honor of the Broccolish meme from the NanoTrade subreddit, Broccoli Bros features 6,133 unique Broccoli-based characters. Released just last week, possible traits include golden stems, partyhats, Nano superhero outfits, hypnotic eyes, and more.

3) RaiStone OGs:

  • Created for the OG Nano holders, RaiStone OGs is a tribute to RaiBlocks, Nano's name from 2014 to 2018, and the Rai Stones off of which that name was based. Like Ethereum's popular "EtherRocks" collection, RaiStone OGs is a small collection - only 50 unique Rai Stones exist. These come in gray, blue, green, red, and more, with some even sporting the colors of the RaiBlocks logo itself.

4) Nyano Gifs:

  • Created as a way to bring life to Nyano Cats, Nyano Gifs are just that - gifs of Nyano Cats doing various things. The creator plans to release 4 each week, up to a total of 133 unique gifs. 12 have been created so far, and these can already be used in various places like Twitter and Discord by searching for "nyano cats" or "nano cats" in GIFs. (hopefully Reddit soon too!)

Does anyone know if it's possible to see what version the node is running when you try and change representative in Natrium?

It displays uptime and voting weight - is it possible to have version showing too? Seems like reasonably important information to have.

Nanolooker got really unstable since the spam attacks. Most of the time it's down. When the site does work, it's node is busy with catching up to the ledger.

Right now it's down again. Since nanolooker is basically the main explorer on coinmarketcap, wouldn't it be better to add different explorers to CMC?

During the spam, I found out that an explorer based on nanocrawler called nanoblockexplorer.com works like it should be.

A few months ago I announced that I'm developing Monero-like stealth addresses for Nano.

More context is at the bottom, but it's not strictly necessary for the sake of the poll. So, which of these do you think is better?

Type 1 - "on-chain"

Pros:

  • Does not require extra work to use: You can just put in the address, and hit send. Boom, done.

Cons:

  • More complex
    • Less robust
    • (Potentially) more bugs
    • Harder to implement
  • More vulnerable to spam attacks
  • Creates a little bit of traceable "dust", separate from the rest of the payment
  • Less private

Type 2 - "off-chain"

Camo B*nano-style.

Pros:

  • Simpler
    • More robust
    • Less bugs
    • Easier to implement
  • More private

Cons:

  • Cannot "restore from seed"
  • Requires extra work to use: You have to manually send a message to the recipient.

Type 2 might seem like the clear choice, but I think the extra step required is a pretty big tradeoff. Type 2 is basically like Camo B*nano, but (IMHO) more advanced.

Details

After being busy for a while, I'm back at it. I near-completely rewrote the prototype wallet in preparation for a public release, and fleshed it out into a full piece of software.

As it turns out, Nano's protocol is actually pretty brutal for implementing privacy techniques... Without going into too much detail, stealth payments need to send an extra piece of data, which I'll call a "notification," alongside the main payment. Since Nano isn't built to handle stealth addresses like Monero, sending this notification is actually pretty tricky.

The original plan was type 1, but I'm now thinking that might not be the best idea. The complications involved are really obnoxious for the user, honestly.

Fortunately, switching out the notification mechanism isn't very hard. Also, I designed this system to be easily upgradable in the future, so new features can always be added later.

Discussion and feedback would be very welcome.

The backlog creates the limit or a pace at which ledger bloat is allowed to happen to the network. This provides a long-term security and sustainability benefit. The backlog feature means Nano has a scalable and sustainable ledger. The backlog is nothing to worr about since they are only micro-dust transactions that are the only thing being held back bcause Nano has a great prioritization system. If you sent 0.00000000001 of a Nano your transaction is still going to be prioritized over all the millions of smaller micro-dust spam transactions in the backlog.

This whole system scales according to Nano's adoption.

Someone may complain about a small transaction not going through quickly, but if you look at other cryptos, they don't even give you the option of doing as small of a dust-like transaction AT ALL. Nano solves the dust problem better than anything else. Other cryptos, like Bitcoin for example, dust amounts become locked behind fees so they are of no value and no option to go through is even offered. With Nano you can eventually get your dust for free, according to prioritization.

We are still early. Nano's prioritization system is only going to get better as time goes on and we can optimize it better.

The amount of transactions per second for Nano is scalable as needed according to actual adoption needs. The backlog right now is most definitely due to spam and it is doing it's job protecting the network. All the transaction spammers are doing is throwing their money away and basically making Nano rarer as they are locking up their own money behind their own spam transactions. Their spam dust is essentially like being burned/locked behind itself.

I am just writing this to try to explain how I understand it and hopefully help others understand it and calm down about it since it is kind of a new thing. Hopefully this makes sense. Other cryptos don't have a prioritization system like Nano so if a backlog happened on their network it would be a total mess, but Nano is different. Nano is designed better. Thank the developers!
