I mainly buy Nano to donate to a couple non-profits, in order to avoid credit card fees. With Binance.us, I believe I remember the fees being very low. But now you can't deposit USD there.

I just bought Nano on Kraken, and there was a 1.5% fee to convert from USD to Nano. I'm not sure how the non-profits change it back to USD, but if it's a similar fee, that amounts to 3%, and I think that's around what the CC companies would take?

Are there better ways than Kraken for this?

So the reporting framework will kick in next June in Europe and the reporting a year thereafter. Did the Nanofoundation already said if they can afford the white paper process to stay legal within the EU? Normally I don’t see them spending much what is not technology in the past what they use in other projects? Correct me if I am wrong but I see many projects go down next year due to regulations and I hope Nano is not going to be one of them

When I found nano in 2021 I loved every aspect of it. Every aspect that is, except it's lack of privacy. I understand why it is the way it is, and I'm not here to argue that. But I've always wanted to be able to send nano without leaking my entire balance.

Well today I'd like to introduce the first step forward in that regard: Nanonymous.cc

It's a simple service that sends nano where you want from wallets that aren't related to yours. This isn't true privacy, but a great step in right direction.

Today we're launching the beta for you all to try. We're hoping to get any feedback and ideas from you during the beta and if all goes well, fully launch around 09/29 12:00 CDT.

The beta will be different from the full service in two ways:

1. There will be no minimum transaction. (Max 1 Nano)
2. There will be no fees.

Ultimately this will be a paid service where a 0.2% percent fee is taken from the transaction (one fifth of one percent). Any dust is truncated from the fee to leave your wallet clean.

Right now we're focused on this simple use case, but we'd love to expand in the future. Please share your ideas and desires here or on our Discord server (you can find the invite link on the website) and we'd love to see what we can do.

Yes, this is a service. But we hope that it's legitimately useful to the nano community. We hope you'll try it out and let us know what you think!

so picture this, a large scale international music festival organisation decides to use a their own payment system for on site for food/bev and services. They ditch the usual cashless/wristband solution (that charge them say 5% of on site revenue).

With nano, that they would have ideally slurped for the last 6months at say 65 cents on the dollar. The festival effectively saved 5% on all sales on site plus given the nature of the semi anonymous system they now can somehow 'hide' portions of the sales (if not all) to the gov and save on sales taxes (heck sales taxes is inexistent here since they use nano).

since the organisation is huge (millions of costumer each year) they effectively jumped the price of nano at least 5 times.. and now can use nano for the next years at a HUGE discount for them and the costumers, win win win..

its cheaper for everyone, they can transfer/use nano at will for free they can set a cash deck with a -5%/+5% bid ask spread vs market for anyone to converts to back/into FIAT. Consumers are still better off and the organisation just saved millions on fees and after charges (and maybe on taxes as well)

what prevents organisation in doing that (other than the general lack of information and drive from organisations)

I love Nano. I love its technology. But I can't see him doing anything other than bragging about his technology. We know that NANO is the most suitable currency for daily use, but I have serious doubts that they are working on this.

My question is this. Will we hear good news about Nano soon? Or will they just continue to boast...

Why nano is not popular or appealing(compared to BTC, ETH, or even XRP)? Is it because of poor marketing? Or is it because of a technical gap?

Original Title: From Twitter: Today, for the first time, the Rust port of the NANO node was able to run with the whole networking stack in Rust and Tokio. Replacing the async runtime with Tokio was the riskiest part of porting Nano to Rust, but it all worked out well!
