As the title suggests, today is the day! Questions are along the lines of:

  • How can digital currency address issues of financial inclusion and help to create more equitable economic systems? / How can digital currency address the challenges posed by traditional financial systems (in terms of environmental sustainability)?
  • Can you speak to the potential risks and challenges associated with the development and adoption of sustainable digital currency?

It will not be recorded I am afraid as it is for those applicants to the programme that have been accepted to the UN Summer Academy. However, this is a wonderful opportunity to get nano in front of the change-makers of tomorrow and outline how and why we do things differently!

Wish me luck!

Hey all,

Together with a friend I'm working on a new project called Perseeve. A brand new web and mobile app that lets you earn nano while livestreaming or offering services in real-time. We're super excited about this project, and we can't wait to hear what you think!

Get started on https://web.perseeve.app

What is Perseeve?

Perseeve is all about empowering content creators and service providers to monetize their skills and expertise. Whether you're a streamer, musician, fitness instructor, consultant, or anything in between, Perseeve enables you to earn nano on a per-second basis. Directly from viewers to streamers and service providers. Say goodbye to relying solely on sponsorships or tips – it's time to take control of your earnings! Especially relevant right now with the whole drama around Twitch and other streaming platforms. Perseeve also has a location-based streaming feature, allowing you to see any location in the world live! Perhaps you are planning to go on a vacation and want to see the area before you go? You can search for a location that you'd like to see and a live connection will be established with someone in that area that uses Perseeve. The person picking up the video call will get paid in nano in realtime by the person that calls. In case you want to earn nano, share your location and show your area to others!

To note, for each of these use cases (livestreaming, services and location sharing), this means viewers have to pay to watch with microtransactions. Nano is perfect for this because it is fee-free and instant! Perhaps not everyone is willing to pay for watching streams, and that is okay. However, there are people that are willing to pay for exclusive content or only pay for the seconds they watch, and others that want a reliable income stream where they can share their thoughts, expertise, knowledge or skills without needing to rely on (and cater to) advertisers and sponsors.

Early Stage & Feedback Wanted

Now, I must emphasize that Perseeve is still in its early stages. We're working hard to refine and improve the app, but there may be some hiccups along the way. That's where you come in! We're inviting all of you to try out Perseeve, provide feedback, report bugs, and share your suggestions. Your input will be invaluable in shaping the future of the app. We're planning many more features and improvements in the near future such as scheduling calls for service providers, a service marketplace, improved UI/UX, and more.

Non-Custodial & Security Reminder

One important aspect of Perseeve is that it's non-custodial, meaning you have full control over your funds. However, with great power comes great responsibility! Please make sure to safely store your secret phrase (24-word list) as a backup. Losing access to your phrase could result in the loss of your funds, and we definitely don't want that!

How to get started

You can download the app for Android or use the web app version. I will create some how-to video's and a walkthrough of the app soon and post it on r/perseeve. However, setting up an account, starting your first livestream and earning nano takes less then a minute.

Here's a short video tutorial to get started.

If you want to watch streams, you will need some nano. You can get nano on exchanges such as Kraken, Bitvavo, Binance and others. A full list can be found here. Alternatively, you can get some nano for free via faucets or the WeNano app.

Please go and explore the app, search for profiles and follow them, start a stream and try it out! We're thrilled to have you on this journey with us, and we can't wait to see the incredible content and services you'll create on Perseeve. Let's revolutionize the way livestreamers and service providers earn income!

Feel free to join r/perseeve if you think the project is interesting and want to keep up to date! :)

I'd like to validate signatures created by 'Nanocurrency-js' in a Rust backend. I am using 'ed25519-dalek-blake2b = "1.0.2"'. The Public Key generation is OK but it's still not verifying successfully. What can be the problem? Is it a compatibility issue? Can someone guide me what to use for validation?

Thank you.

As you might be aware, the nano community has been supporting the amazing kids at the Espada Football Academy in Nigeria. The team has been fundraising with nano and was able to buy nano-branded shirts, football equipment and more!

Their Coach, Bukar Beto Ismail, recently uploaded a video to twitter telling their story with nano and thanking the nano community for their support. I wanted to share it here as well as I think it is so wholesome and amazing to see what nano can do by providing instant, direct, fee-free global donations. Allowing anyone in the world to easily support a person, organisation or initiative. Having value flow frictionless around the globe is an amazing thing that we should celebrate!

See the interview here.

TL:DR; Get KarmaCall iOS free for a year (check back here or wherever the nano community moves for the next code in a year).

Hey, y'all. For the longest time, I felt nervous about building big tech all on my own, despite my highly technical background. With the rise of Large Language Models like Chat-GPT4, Bard, Phind and others, I have recently been like this.

These LLMs have made me a 10x engineer & I find myself with much more time to spend to myself, my family, and my friends :)

I think I am not that great of a manager, but I know what I want and I know how to build + can ship a lot faster than I used to with a team (despite my love for those who worked with me and put their all into it).

I'm going to stay bootstrapped for a while & I am now building everyday, including plans for some niche interesting things I haven't publicly discussed yet.

I would love love LOVE to get your feedback on KarmaCall iOS as it is now.... and how it'll be in a few months from now. I aim for major UX/UX improvements, but want to hear from people, on what they want. Thanks!

Edit: Here's that onboarding video I promised.

I believe during the big spam attack long ago, nodes were encouraged to limit their bandwidth to slow transactions and allow the network to catch back up.

Now that we have seemed to addressed the vulnerability to that particular type of spam attack with the current v.25, do we know if those bandwidth throttling restrictions are removed?

LTC is a top 20 coin and its only added value is that it is used as BTC's test network and also that it is faster then BTC.

with this logic why isn't nano a top 20 coin then ? is it me who is foolish to think nano is better for the same service or is the market not pricing in the nano power ?

Back in the days of the original Raiblocks faucet I ran a web custodial wallet which was very popular particularly with faucet users as you didn’t need to sync a node etc.

It got hacked and 100XNO was stolen, I refunded the loses personally and then shutdown the wallet (it had terrible security in hindsight).

This was in 2017. When it was shutdown I setup a method to withdraw your funds and personally tracked down big accounts and sent them back. Over the past 6 (!) years I have kept a telegram channel open and intermittently emailed users to ask them to recover their funds.

I think we’ve reached a point where it’s time to stop trying to return the funds. I have therefore emailed the final few big accounts and given them a deadline of 3 weeks to reclaim the funds. There are also lots of small accounts.

If you had an account on Yaprai and never reclaimed your funds please reach out to me. I will then insist that you email me on your original email address and will only accept this as proof of ownership.

You have 3 weeks to claim (final day will be Thursday 13th July 2023). After this I will sweep funds together and will start a community fund to support Nano community development.

Thanks

It’s wild how good nano is at microtipping. The social networks being built with native nano integration are a pretty killer proof of the concept. Highly encourage people to check them out if they haven’t yet. It should be on every site honestly. I’d tip all sorts of content.

Binance is leaving my country because of regulations so I have to either sell or move my Nano. I want to move it to another exchange, but I'm unsure which one I should do. I wanted to move it to Coinbase, but they don't accept Nano. What would your advise be? I'm also open to move it to a hot wallet. Right now don't plan to buy a Ledger.

I'd like to know if tokens exist on the Nano blockchain or if the only coin/currency is XNO.

It works just as great today as yesterday. It is decentralized money that doesn't need or care about Trustable. Nano just works, independent of the news.

It has been 9 months since I gave a talk at the Nano meetup here in London and shared the initial plans of Trustable along with the rest of the Trustable team, George, Colin and Ben. I promised you all that I would give updates on our progress though the reality is it has been a horrific 9 months both personally and across our sector. Today I would like to share with you an explanation of my silence and how this has impacted Trustable and NF itself.

Pretty shortly after the meetup, I had to take a vast amount of time out due to personal reasons and unfortunately this has negatively impacted the progression of Trustable. Please do not direct any negativity towards George and Colin, this is entirely in my court.

As you are aware, Trustable was planned to serve as a funding mechanism to NF and due to its delay, I was personally funding the Nano Foundation as I truly believe in nano and Trustable as a network. Unfortunately, I had to end this monetary support back at Christmas 2022.

We have also had two major events during this time that have set the global markets on an unknown path. The failure of FTX has had a lasting impact on the market and its tentacles have not yet been fully understood as we have seen over the last several months.Secondly, the implosion of Silvergate, SVB and Signature bank has had a devastating impact on the ability for crypto exchanges to clear many currencies and impacted the ability to on and off ramp through FIAT.

Whilst in the long run I think this is beneficial for the market it has put a lot of roadblocks in the way for us and has caused us to rethink our plan and how the best way is to move forward. With the regulatory landscape being so uncertain and a wild west situation for our partners, we have taken a step back and reviewed where Trustable would best succeed.

George and Colin decided that due to me being unable to fund the Nano Foundation further and Trustable having an undefined timeline, to redouble their focus and efforts on continuing to develop nano itself and find another source of funding with more immediacy. The nano protocol is the lynchpin to any services built on top of it and thus, requires full dedication while being completed.

Where does this leave Trustable?

I’ve been thinking for a while now about starting a new exchange, one that is built on simple rails with self custody at its heart. The failure of FTX was a large impetus, however it would have to be done the right way.

We are seeing a big shift in the jurisdictions that are assisting crypto/digital innovation with Dubai/AbuDhabi becoming a forward thinking regulator (unlike those who will not be named..!) and I personally feel that this will become the centre of finance in the coming decade.

I believe that in the long run more assets will become digitalised and Trustable is perfect for this shift in the financial system. I also believe that the UAE would be the best place to centralise this with the correct regulatory support and infrastructure support.

However this is where the team differs in opinion and want of focus. It has therefore been decided that for the time being, Trustable as a technology itself is being put on ice with the entities being dissolved for now.

With external and regulatory pressures coming to a forefront, the risks are too great for such a venture in this current climate even when done properly. I am sorry that you have been waiting for another announcement, however the tides turned quickly and I had to make sure there was no other way than to close operations down indefinitely. We have spent the last 6 months trying to save Trustable however external pressures have become too much.

I will continue my support of the nano network by running the Trustable PRs NN1 and NN2 and continue to advocate for the success of nano itself, it is a shame that the world is such a hostile environment to innovation currently.

First of all, i want to thank the vibrant community within the nano community, as well as extend my appreciation to the Nano Foundation. I've been following Nano for close to 4 years now, and i've seen how it has progressed over the years.

There were many adoption opportunities, but none came to fruition. This highlights the real feasibility (or lack there of) for Nano to be a real world and readily-adopted currency. After years of supporting the project that always leads to disappointments when it comes to someone major adopting nano, as well as reading up on nano news religiously on a daily basis, the recent event of Trustable getting dissolved and not communicated to the community is the last straw for me (it really kinda left a sour taste for me).

This is my own personal viewpoint that i think have to be addressed:

  1. Lack of communication (at this point, this sounds like a broken record).
  2. Lack of properly-documented roadmap (easily digestable for non-coders to understand). 2a. Lack of accountability to follow the roadmap.
  3. Lack of adoption by any meaningful merchants (e.g razor, flowhub).
  4. Failure of Trustable.
  5. General downward sentiment.
  6. Gradually dying community spirit/activeness (on reddit, on twitter).

I wouldn't be surprised if Nano leads to nowhere and the project is abandoned in the near future. This will absolutely be a pity.

Do note that i will continue to support Nano from the sidelines, but personally, i will not be as active in promoting/following nano news anymore (i used to write a python bot to send messages to top influencers on twitter to highlight the pros of nano on a daily basis e.g. Cathie Wood, Lebron James, Ronaldo, Ray Dalio, Tim Cook etc etc). Now, I'll be spending more time on other projects as well as on my family.

I wish fellow nanites in this community the best of luck! Nano has lost 1 person today (aka me, but not like i've contributed significantly to the project other than slight awareness on twitter hahaha), but i'll continue to support from the sidelines every now and then! :)
