After three years of design, discussion, and community collaboration, we're thrilled to announce that Sailing, Old School RuneScape's first new skill, is launching on November 19th at 10:00 UTC! Please note, the exact timing of launch on the day might move and will be explained in further detail in our next Sailing blog.

Sailing unlocks new content found at sea! Own and upgrade your very own boat and as you hone your skills, you'll reach previously uncharted areas. It's a historic moment for the team and, of course, our wonderful community. From early skill concepts, throughout refinement, playtesting and polls, this has been a skill shaped directly with you. Let's talk about what you can expect from Sailing, what's still on the horizon, and how you can help influence development in 2026 and beyond.

The OSRS team values YOUR input!

We're running an opinion poll on Sailing, since we want to ensure that we're making updates on the features that matter to you the most. Let us know your thoughts. We'll use this data to update our roadmap plans, and allocate our time in 2026 to the things that the community cares about most. As always, thank you so much for working with us and helping us to make Sailing even better. The feedback we've received from you helps us massively.

Back in March 2024, we introduced a wide range of systemic updates to the core Combat skills to improve their flow, such as:

  • Combat made more fluid - improvements for the original three combat styles to modernise them closer to Necromancy.
  • Clearer tooltips, labels and descriptions to help you understand combat and make decisions in the moment.
  • Overhaul of accuracy, so it impacts damage rather than chance to hit, removing splashing from RuneScape. Never miss an Ultimate again!
  • Improvements to Critical Strike and the damage ranges of abilities so that you are more consistently in control and less at the mercy of RNG.

Prior to releasing those changes, we hosted beta worlds to showcase the changes to players, gather feedback and insight so we could polish and tweak the update.

As a special Christmas surprise, we will be launching another beta, aimed at shaping further modernisations for Combat in 2026. Instructions on how to join are at the bottom of the blog!

Hey everyone,

This year, we set out not only to meet your long-standing expectations for higher quality Player Support and Anti-Cheat, but also to evolve how we improve our games altogether - raising our ambitions, modernising the systems that sit around the game, and rebuilding confidence in the support and security you rely on.

Our 2025 Player Support Roadmap laid out a clear promise to focus on your biggest asks: better account security, more direct access to support through features like Live Chat, and systems that give you greater confidence that your precious account will stay safe for decades to come.

Hidden in a recently discovered resource dungeon near Daemonheim is Flesh-hatcher Mhekarnahz, a mighty Stalker stranded far from Ocularis.

Unlike our most recently released boss, Amascut, this encounter is designed for an earlier stage in your PvM journey. It introduces common mechanics and serves as an alternative way to train your combat skills. Although this is a solo boss, you can still fight it alongside other players to observe, learn, and study how they tackle the encounter. Don’t worry, only your actions and contributions will count toward defeating the boss and earning your rewards!

Grab your stethoscope and your finest sneaking attire, Heists drop on Monday, November 24th!

This new repeatable “solo-together” activity shakes up Thieving like never before. Plus, we’re boosting the level cap to 120 and adding new stalls, pickpockets, and an overhauled chest system to the core Thieving Systems.

Tl;dr: DDoS attacks are bad. They make players mad, which makes us sad. We’ve made some changes, which we think are rad.

Hey all! The infrastructure J-Mods are back with another Spudworks blog. This time, we’re diving into DDoS attacks and ping. As usual, this will be a tech-focused post, but we’ll do our best to explain the concepts as best as we can – and if there’s any follow-up questions let us know on our socials and we might cover them in a future blog!

Kinda liberal use of the word integrity while a good chunk of proposed changes seem to be around consistency. Not a lot of detail yet on how the underlying skilling problems are going to be addressed.

Coming Monday Lumbridge will come back to nostalgia, and with the crater removal that probably also hints that The Beach will need to be revamped or moved.

Gielinor is once again faced with a terrible fate beginning with the letter 'a'. This time around there's no Apocalypse, there's no Armageddon, only certain Annihilation, which is more or less the same thing but with more syllables than ever before! There's nothing you can do to stop it, this world's fate is foretold, all that's left for you to do is gear up and go down swinging so that you might be the last player standing before everything turns to dust. Do you have what it takes?

Today's post focuses on exactly what's changed since our previous event (Deadman: Armageddon) and giving you a brief refresher on the most important bits. That means we'll be covering all of the most important changes at a top-level rather than bombarding you with hundreds of tiny little bullet points (though we'll be putting a blog together before the event to go through all of the finer details for anybody who might be interested!)

Before we jump into all of the exciting new stuff, let's get everybody up to speed with a quick refresher - we've had a lot of new players join the community throughout 2025, after all.

For the last month, there’s been one player in Old School RuneScape who set the goal to consume 500,000 trouts. There wasn’t much of an explanation behind why, just one of those weird online game happenings. However, as Louisifer ate his fish, he began to accumulate more donations from the adoring crowds.

As he hit his goal, players opted to start donating gold instead of fish. Why? From what I can see, it was just a funny alternative. Either way, Louisifer had managed to gain 1.1 billion gold. Now, Louisifer on Facebook stated that he had gambled it all away.

In case you've been living under a particularly large rock recently, Old School's first-ever new skill, Sailing, launches on November 19th at 10:00 UTC!

Before launch day arrives, we’re battening down the hatches and making sure everything’s shipshape behind the scenes. This week’s update marks the Sailing Technical Pre-Release - where we’re hoisting most of the Sailing content into the game, but it’ll remain locked and unplayable until launch.
