why did all my desktop and document files disappear on my mac after logging out of apple id and logging back in, the folders are there but nothing is inside (alien.top)

It is iCloud desktop. Instead of storing all your files on the Mac desktop, it will sync across your Apple devices. I think if you go into settings and go to your Apple ID, you can turn on use iCloud desktop or something like that. I don’t remember at the moment.
