I think acceptance is when you move to another country as you accept the idea of the United States and the constitution are gone for good.

Nope that's where the acceptance comes into play. You just find a country that works best for you if you can or anywhere that will take if you are trying to escape persecution.

it's maybe some kind of stockhold syndrome? the 1950s were shit but people remember them well.
so they think that they want to go back to that.
and the loss of that is causing an emotional toll on the people.
They fear a loss of status/privilege which is why they're so angry.
