So I just want to say that I wasn't the only one being fooled. My entire family were diehard MAGAs. We were brainwashed I guess. We were being lied to by the media who constantly told us that the far left progressive were Communist lunatics who wanted to destroy this country. And I feel like such an idiot right now! It was this orange Hitler who all along had been wanting to destroy this country. We see it now! You can't imagine how much I hate myself for being fooled. I'm so ashamed of myself. I will never ever trust Republicans ever again!

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, they should know damn well we are in fact communists that want to destroy America

[–] Semester3383@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Speak for yourself.

I'm an anarchist that wants to destroy America.

[–] Bo7a@lemmy.ca 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

And I'm an anarchist who couldn't give two shits about America. Or any state for that matter...

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'm a syndicalist with complicated feelings about america

Those bastards in the Peoples Front of Judea will be the death of us all!

Long live the Judean Peoples Front!

You should be ashamed.

You failed the easiest open book test in American history.

I'm not sure if you came here expecting open arms, and you may be getting that from some, but not from me.

You caused serious generational damage by falling for the dumbest shit imaginable. And you're blaming it on the media lying to you and pressure from your family? You may be the sheep conservatives so love to accuse others of being.

If you're actually sorry, do something about it.

Doesn't matter. Your house is on fire as a result of your decision. What are you gonna do about it?

Your house is on fire as a result of your decision

I don't give a shit about this dimwit's house: his decision set MY house on fire.

It's great that some MAGAts suddenly see the light. But you know what? They can all fuck off.

[–] Randelung@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

Ironically, it's a "our house" situation.

People without critical thinking skills shouldnt be able to vote

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

So he shouldn't try to put out the fire in your home too? Got it though, assuming he's truly contrite, I don't see how that helps you people come together again.

Tell me: why is it that reasonable people always have to take a step towards the enemy and make them feel better about themselves? When this idiot voted fascist, he made no concessions. And now that he's had a change of heart, we have to be kind to him and welcome him to the fold?

No. Just fuck off. Intolerance goes both ways. I have no sympathy for Nazi enablers, no matter how repentant they appear to be. Let them taste a bit of their own medicine.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

And that's why you have a problem.

[–] ExtremeDullard@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The problem we have right now is not caused by Nazi-intolerant people.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The losing side voted/ did not vote along the lines defined by the genocide issue. Part of the problem is trying to frame everything in black/ white and using extreme verbiage when characterizng the other side, in order to elicit an emotional response for clout and to discourage discourse. There's your problem right there.

[–] davidagain@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

You are actually both right.

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Yes, except that tolerating intolerance is the reason the U.S. is in the circumstances it's in.

The greater of these two evils is 100% tolerating intolerance.

For anyone that took 'this long' to turn on Trump and/or the republican party.. That's nice but what are you doing now to correct whatever echo chamber you were in?

Figuring out if your media is actually telling you the news and not just this side or that talking points to me is more important than whatever your governmental inclination is.

[–] the_abecedarian@piefed.social 12 points 4 days ago

It's great that you have come around to seeing the reality of how awful the Republicans are. I think you can start on the road to making up for it by trying to help others who are close to you see the same thing, by joining protests against ice, and by learning to show solidarity with everyone suffering under the trump regime.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 days ago

This would have gotten more sympathy from me during Trump's first term. But how could you see what he did then, see that Biden did not destroy the country in the 4 years he was there, and still feel this way?
