Ah yes, collective punishment, always great. And for a fucking internet post too.

[–] BangCrash@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yes an internet post. The place where everything these days is published.

I dont know why an internet post would get exemption

Now imagine that the government read your post and decided that alone was reason to stop all efforts to oppose a literal genocide.

Do you think you expressing your personal opinion really ought to carry that kind of weight? This wasn't some important organization expressing an institutional position, it wasn't some official government declaration, it was one jackass making a social media post, talking shit about people who are literally genociding her people, and because she didn't go quietly into the night they're going to try to send her back to her imminent death, and stop any efforts to save anyone else.

It's not a question of internet posts getting an exemption versus other forms of media, it's a question of whether or not one person mouthing off is reason to condemn countless others to literally die.

They aren't "stopping all efforts to oppose a literal genocide "

France is screening refugees. Because clearly the current screening is letting literal Nazis in

[–] Red_October@piefed.world 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

They were already screening refugees, and someone got through anyway. Now they are stopping ALL evacuations until their investigation into one person is complete.

People are going to die because of this.

[–] BangCrash@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Yes because clearly the screening was inadequate. Hence the need for the investigation

So...collective punishment? One guy beaks off, and now everyone else gets left behind to die?

[–] Chill_Dan@lemmy.world 19 points 3 months ago

"We won't rescue anyone who says mean things about their genociders"?

Fuck France.

They were looking for any excuse, who would have seen that coming.

The posts allegedly included calls for the extermination of Jewish people and videos praising World War II Nazi German leader Adolf Hitler.

Yeah, but I mean, who hasn’t called for the extermination of the Jewish people and praised Hitler? Ye does it all the time, and you don’t see him facing any blowback.

Let's be honest, without even seeing the content can we actually trust it even slightly shows what it says. Antisemitism has been misused and weaponized, who can trust any allegation of it.

These are the same governments who think anti-zionism is anti-semitism.

Pretty sure “extermination” and Hitler are gonna be in there. But, hey, maybe in a good way.

This seemed like the plan from the get go. Having a "we really tried but these pesky things wouldn't let me" to actually not have to do anything.

Good job.

Any excuse will do. Its not like they care about those poor starving people.
