Fucking "modernized" everything that don't really add any value and are just gimmick.

All the city streets are filled with bright LEDs and digital billboards, and it just fucking hurts my eyes, man.

Not only that, all cars and houses now also got that blueish LEDs too. I mean, for fuck sake, have you heard of warm daylight (3000k) LEDs!?!?

I hate being expected to observe holidays that were created on a foundation of racial and cultural obliteration.

[–] Caffeinated_Sloth@lemmy.world 24 points 22 hours ago

I would like to add a holiday that once celebrated peace, but now celebrates militarism and war: Veterans Day (US). Not long ago, it was St. Martin’s day, a feast that commemorates a Roman soldier who abandoned his military office to become a monk. It was customary to sign peace treaties on his feast day for this reason. Included in this was Armistice Day, the end of World War 1. Eventually in the US this was changed to Veterans Day in 1954.

I hate watching a youtube video where they bleep the cursing instead of muting it. Those high-pitch bleeps hurt my ears.

According to Ozzy Man Reviews, if you don't curse within the first 8 seconds the video doesn't get demonitized.

Bots

Billionaires

Billionaire-bootlickers

Excessively talkative people who tell you everything about their life - but take zero interest in yours.

Companies that make you jump through hoops when you call them and force you listen to recorded messages about how you can get what you need on-line, before they finally put you through to a call-centre in India.

My lack of discipline when it comes to drinking and eating

The fact that my body has taken to waking me up at 4am

I hate when people don't know how to act in a restaurant. I can tolerate it in tourists from abroad, that's excusable ignorance. But by the stars, some people never left the five hundred mile radius of where they were born and still never learned basic things like "don't treat service staff like trained animals" or "don't say you're ready to order until you know what you want" or "wait for a host or other staff to seat you instead of sitting down at the only dirty table and then complaining that you don't have a menu and your table is dirty" or "the number of people in your party includes all people, not just adults" or "you can't just order things from random people walking by".

Ugh.

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 3 points 15 hours ago

On but your last sentence, I disagree.

I hate the current division in waiting staff, consisting of order takers and servers, I feel like anyone should be able to take a simple order and communicate it to their colleges who do the order taking.

Or at least they should try, of it's too complicated and they don't have time they should at least stop and say 'I'll direct my colleague your way'.

I've had people just tell me they don't take orders and then just move away, sometimes without even alerting the staff that can take orders.

That last bit is really vexing me, it has no place in hospitality.

I fucking hate SQL. It’s “standardized”, but not in a way that makes anything about it interoperable between vendors. It’s insecure as fuck, unless you’re extremely careful. Every single SQL server has its own way of doing things, and you have to know it intimately to be able to use it effectively.

That being said, SQL is pretty cool. It kills aliens and doesn’t afraid of anything.

Americans putting their thanksgiving in November.

WTF is wrong with you guys. It's 4 weeks to Christmas, you need to spread your food based holidays out better.

Easter, Independence Day, then fucking nothing until bam, Thanksgiving and Christmas back to back.

I don't want to hear about Labour day being a feast, it's a day off work to celebrate working. Stupid fucking holiday.

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 30 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Labor Day isn't about celebrating work, it's about appreciating the gains organized labor has made for working people.

[–] BlameThePeacock@lemmy.ca 10 points 23 hours ago (5 children)

Union employment has dropped off a cliff the last few decades, we won't be celebrating it much longer.

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 8 points 22 hours ago

The US doesn't celebrate the real one (May Day) anyway

I deeply hate the notion that hating things is cool, edgy, or more interesting than liking things.

The general state of the world / our collective inability to learn from history.

[–] imetators@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 16 hours ago

I blame quality of education. Like, the whole world. Some got it fine but most of the world got it in a trash state. Old system must go. Reworks must be done. And then, maybe we will not repeat history every couple of decades.

[–] MisterNeon@lemmy.world 18 points 22 hours ago

That I can't find a job in America.

[–] toomanypancakes@piefed.world 22 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

I hate when you go to tie something down in a truck and the tie downs you have suck so they aren't the right length and you have to awkwardly tie them to the hitch and then you do a terrible job anyway

[–] HotsauceHurricane@lemmy.world 11 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Having to scan QR codes. Fuck 'em. My doctors office can & WILL print me out a goddamn paper form to fill out.

[–] Jumbie@lemmy.zip 4 points 17 hours ago

It’s worse. The reason for digital is so they can steal even more data points to sell to third parties.

There’s a higher-than-normal correlation between filling out a new set of forms at a doctor and an increase in junk mail or phone calls from scammers.

I hate the folks that burned the library of Alexandria

[–] magic_lobster_party@fedia.io 5 points 19 hours ago

To make yourself feel better, it is disputed whether the entire library (and with it a huge wealth of knowledge) was destroyed in one big fire or not. Instead it might have been ”destroyed” gradually over a long period of time due to lack of funding.

I didn’t start the fire.
