Because coaching trees are made up things that don’t really matter and we o my know about them because sports TV needs to find something to fill time.

Like coaching trees are such a useless lens of analysis - was I meaningfully shaped in my ideas about what I do from having some guy as my manager for 2 years? Should he have some kind of claim or credit for my future accomplishments?

See how ridiculous it is?

[–] Papaloxs@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bill was never a good coach but a good cheater. That doesn’t produce a good coaching tree.

[–] Larovich153@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Because everyone ignores his greatest success, Nick Saban

[–] JesuszillaSon@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They all try to be insufferable assholes like Bellicheck without the success. I remember the Bill O'Brien days in Houston and even when he was winning the division it was obvious he's a raging asshole. It might work for a little while, and it will even work when the team is winning but unless you're a savant with an all time great QB you can't have a better than you mentality towards adults who are trying to play hard and provide for their families.

Grown men don't respond well to being talked down too and lorded over especially when the coach doing it are just a side kick to the one who's actually been successful.

[–] Zealousideal_Ad1734@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The same reason Bill Belicheck fell off, no more illegal cameras.

[–] RedDragons8@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My older brother had Seahawks season tickets in the 90s, he recalled when Belichicks Browns came to town, Belichick was met with chants of "Beavis and Belichick, Beavis and Belichick" (Belichick replacing Butthead from the popular TV Show for those in the sub who not of age to have been required to get a prostate exam).
Im not saying he's not an all time great, but its a bit suspect that he was less than successful both before he had Brady and seemingly after...

[–] untraiined@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Because bellicheck rode brady

[–] JacketFantastic4081@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Tom Brady was what provided success, not the coaching. I’m not sure how some people haven’t realized this.

[–] ZacapaRocks@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Let me fix this....

Why didn't anyone but Bill have Tom Brady?

You're welcome.

[–] Arseyoukiddingme@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Their strong suit is cheating.

[–] djdeforte@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Because they were all good with the GOAT at QB.

[–] Freethinker9@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Tampa needs a head coach

[–] PopcornDrift@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Threads like these remind me to never take anything y’all say seriously lmao apparently belichick just lucked himself into 20 years of unprecedented dominance and he’s actually not good at all

[–] jwaltern@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

because those coaches didn’t have tom brady. just like bill doesn’t now.

[–] TheNewGuy13@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My opinion is that he just doesn't mentor them. He probably coaches the fuck out of his players and imparts his wisdom on them but I don't think I've ever seen any articles about Bill being a mentor to his coaches. Or teaching them. He's probably helpful and professional to them and trusts them but I feel like that's pretty much it. Dude is a control freak who wants to be involved in every aspect no?

If you look at Andy Reid, he does seem like a mentor and coach to his coaches, not just his players. Seems like he actively encourages his coaches to move up and get those opportunities to grow. Harbaugh, McDsrmott, and Pederson have all coached for Reid and have done pretty damn well for themselves.

[–] CIueIess_Squirrel@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Because Brady carried the entire coaching staff on his back lol

[–] SayNoToStim@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Goddamn, reading this thread you would think Tom Brady went out there and played both offense and defense, then won all those games single handedly.

Goddamn, the guy kept the Patriots on top for almost 2 decades and whenever that happens you end up selling tomorrow for today, the crash to the bottom is inevitable.

[–] ProtoMan79@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Without Brady emerging , had Belichick been stuck with Bledsoe after that terrible contract handed out in 2000, I believe, he’s likely gone by 2002 or 2003.

I don’t think his style is plug and play with every team. It was just the right situation with QB to make everyone buy into it.

[–] vhalember@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It was Tom.

[–] Is_That_You_Dio@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Sean Payton & Drew Brees, Mike Mcarthy & Rodgers, Brady & Belichick. All were once revered coach and QB combos but once the QB leaves, the coach doesn’t seem too good anymore

[–] ArkBirdFTW@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Everyone here keeps parroting “lack of Brady” but if you think Joe Judge would’ve been a winning head coach if he had Brady you are an utter moron

[–] scrambled_cable@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s funnier to imagine BB’s “coaching tree” as sleeper agents he sends out to sabotage other teams

[–] vcjr78@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They’d have success as well if they cloned the Goat.

[–] Bzz22@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Cuz they didn’t have Tom Brady

[–] 77rozay@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Maybe, just maybe all the Patriot’s success can be attributed to Brady’s magic… At this point we can’t take anything away from Belichick since it’s just impossible to argue what ifs. But all signs point to him getting carried to success by his QB. Nobody that was a part of that staff has had any luck since.. If Bill was really as good as he’s made out to be, why has he dropped so bad? I get you don’t have Brady, but you should at least be able to keep your team above average based on your credentials right?

[–] Bammer7@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Because Belichick is the talent and the other coaches just follow his system. The odd part is that a good chunk of Belichick's talent is his personality and style. The grumpy, no BS style worked for him because he is just a straight up football savant. Some of his assistants that got head coaching jobs were just trying to emulate him and they couldn't.

[–] JaeTheOne@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

because none of them had Tom Brady?

[–] LoserCowGoMoo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] ihateslowdrivers@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Wins command respect and BB runs a tight ship. How did BB get those wins and respect? Tom Brady. What do the BB coaching tree staff not have? Tom Brady.

[–] darkhorse21980@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Because it's not a tree, it's a branch of the Parcells tree.

[–] sand2sound@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

After reading his letter to Trump it became clear he's a halfwit who was carried by his QB.

[–] Bluetoothwirelessair@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Because of brady

[–] arebee20@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Because it’s looking more and more like Belichick was the perfect head coach for someone who is wired like Tom Brady was but he’s not a perfect head coach in general.

[–] jack_spankin@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Cause they can’t take TB12 with them.

[–] Siege138@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They didn’t have Tom Brady

[–] BecomingJudasnMyMind@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Because - IT. WAS. NEVER. BILL.
