The problem isn't that they're old. The problem is that seniority trumps everything else. He was worse for the position, but he got it because he had seniority.
He wasn't bad because he was old, he was just worse and got it because he was old.

Let me get this clear. You think humans are responsible for the damage they cause to the environment and we should be aware and take responsibility for it, correct?
I don't think anyone disagrees with that evaluation. However, our impact is not only limited to what we build. It also includes our actions. We have hunted species into extinction, which is bad, right?
If that's bad, things we choose to bring with us we're also responsible for, and hunting things out of extinction that don't just go extinct from normal environmental changes is bad, then bringing cats with us that hunt things to extinction is bad, correct?
This isn't saying they're the only bad things were responsible for. That would be a ridiculous thing to believe. It's just saying we are responsible for them, and they do cause damage to the ecosystem, including full on extinction events on occasion. (See: the other comment here that includes a list of species that no longer exist because of cats.) You agree, right?
The birds do a lot more for you than just eating herbs in your garden. You just aren't aware of it, until they're gone at least. Stop thinking you're more important than the ecosystem.
It's like that bike if it's also causing the fat guy a ton of money to hold onto.
My understanding is that it potentially isn't illegal, because you weren't being paid to vote explicitly, and weren't being paid to vote for a specific candidate for sure, but you were (supposed to be) paid to sign an agreement that you would vote, and I think it also said you support a certain candidate but I'm not totally sure on that.
Basically, he was paying for people to say they'd vote (maybe for a certain candidate) but legally that wasn't actually required, so possibly barely skirts the law if a judge is being very generous to him.
This works for people with empathy who care. The former works for people who are selfish. Both are good to tell people. One may work where the other doesn't.
The man in this case was shot anyway, so I don't think the argument of "they'll shoot you if you fight back" is particularly strong when they'll shoot you regardless. Maybe if they're scared to be so aggressive they'll eventually stop, but they certainly aren't stopping when there is no risk to them.
I don't know if there's even anything to get back. Is it that 3 was bad or is it just that Borderlands doesn't interest us anymore? I honestly don't know, but I think it's at least partially the latter for me. I've played much better games since, and I don't really find that formula appealing anymore. Almost everything it created has been used to make better products since, so is there even a reason to care about them anymore?
I meant technical skill, like how well you can create a particular thing with a brush (or whetever tool), but yes the ability to know what creates feeling is also a skill. Technical skill can be impressive on its own, and can help someone who has artistic talent, but I wouldn't call it artistic in and of itself.
Just in case someone needs to hear this, if you fear for your life, you're legally allowed to shoot and kill someone breaking into your house.
This is totally not related to this situation though.
Yeah, I didn't mean fair as in equitable or reasonable. I meant it as in moderately, as in there is some regulation.
I would absolutely disagree. Fun, maybe. Mindless fun? No. I'm fine with games that are mindless fun, but it isn't what all games should strive for. I personally much prefer games that require your focus and consideration.
Mindless fun is cheap and easy. Making a game that sits in people minds for years is difficult and takes effort, but is much more rewarding. BG3, for example, is anything but mindless, which is why it's been able to still be in conversations for so long after it released. How much do people talk about Call of Duty, even though it sells like crazy?
