Heh. Senseless.

Which is kinda unfortunate. I had a solar roof (purchased in 2019) and compared to traditional panels it was comparable cost, slightly lower W/sqft but higher sqft, and much more attractive.

Surely, painting a large group of people with one brush can't hurt anything. 🙄

Israeli leadership is obviously doing evil, but do we really think that 100% of the society is sociopaths?

Common in Silo. It feels like he wandered in off the street and gets prompted for every line. Modern wardrobe and affect in a post-apocalyptic setting. Completely flat and out of tune with the world. Up against Tim Robbins and Iain Glen, it's just more glaring.

No, it's his menacing presidential portrait.

We've had text-to-speech for a long time. The new element is that a context aware processing model explicitly can "understand" the story and add emotion to vocalization.

That said, Amazon can fuck all the way off with this. Let people do art and performance. Figure out how to intelligently automate your warehouses and distribution centers and don't stop paying the people you make redundant.

Fuckin' Bezos, man.

I doubt there's a "fix" so much as a "we're not changing the thing again." This is a classic symptom of a poor data migration: having something that works be moved/changed and lose state but then work for the future.

I'm sure the persistence layer is much more complex than a flat database table, but it's still just item IDs and character slots.

But also... do they not know how to do migration scripts? Is their persistence changing so drastically that they can't even translate "items equipped" to "items in storage"? WTF.

I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for skipping a seemingly small step, but I'm worried it's closer to "that won't make us money" than "it's technically difficult."

We're not too bad here in California, besides the security theatre in airports.

But yeah, I don't blame you.

If it's interesting in your head, no.

If it's interesting in your pants, yes.

If nothing else, we should be slowing the Republican agenda as much as possible.

It would also be nice if Congress would keep signaling an opposition to fascism. Even performative stuff is better than silently allowing the takeover and dismantling to continue.

Just enjoy the hyperspace bypass, I expect.
