I joined this instance because it drew a line in the sand. Non authoritarian spaces are so rare online.

One of the lines in the sand for me is when people are unironically pro North Korea. I don't want that on my feed.
And to a lesser extent I don't want to see weird tankie bootlicking of China either. And I'm not talking about legit good things China has done when compared to other superpowers, I'm talking weird posts that read like full propaganda state sponsored bs, and if you disagree with them in any way they will dig through your intire account history to try and find something they can use instead of actually having a discussion about the topic you originally disagreed with.
Authoritarians don't want open discussion they will just link you half a shitty book explaining how there's actually no such thing as authoritarianism.
Edit: I'd like to add that searching lemmygrad for Ukraine will show some really awful takes. I want freedom for Ukraine same as Palestine, Tebet, Hong kong, el Salvador, ect just because the main empire in the west is on the fascism side of authoritarianism doesn't mean I will cozy up to other authoritarians.
A lot of the worst weeds where I live are invasive and should eradicated whenever possible.
That said it's always blown my mind when lawn enjoyers freak out at things like dandy lions and little yellow flowering clovers, they improved the look. Why do people insist their yard has to look as close to astro terf as possible
Depends on the person. If it's just someone that uses a PC for the browser and doesn't want to learn anything something like popOS or mint would do. If they are ok with learning some Linux/Arch basics, BTRFS + EndeavorOS + KDE is hard to beat and would be my first recommendation
This is a bad take lol. You can be charged with manslaughter if it's an accident and murder if you were trying to kill someone with your car.
Blatantly wrong takes like this just increase the cognitive dissonance between the anti car movement and everyone else.
Manjaro bad.

It's probably seen as a great success to the groups that profited from it. Same as trickle down economics, and every evil industrial complex.
I'm generally a trek fan, I just find it odd they feel the need to make the captian look like Shatner. Is it to just appease the older trek audience that can't handle anything different?
My guess is that it's the share holder class pushing them to not allow WFH, due to also being heavily invested in business real estate combined with middle management knowing they could function with less of or without them.
Title is a bit missleading. He's also setting out $3billion for homeless facilities. Better than nothing, he'll probably criminalize homelessness even more than it already is at the same time.
I doubt the $3 billion will do much to reverse the damage California has done with their prison machine, cost of living crisis, and under funded public services. Unless they address the underlying issues the problems are not going to go away.
It's important to make a distinction between drugs that cause substance addiction (alcohol, opioids, tobacco) and things that trigger some people's behavioral/impulse addictions, Cannabis, food, sugar, porn.
I find it quite odd anyone would have them in the same category, even if you are not or have ever been a durg user.
I legitimately did this when I was homeless for about a year. Cigarettes were a forum of currency and I always had one in my hat or behind my ear, I would just tell people hey it's my last one if they asked for it as well
