There’s an excellent video that explains all the ramifications of populations decline and it’s not only an economical nightmare but also a cultural obliteration as well over time. They use South Korea as an example but mention that even the US is heading this way but has another decade or so before it gets really bad.

If we ever make AGI and it decides to end us for some reason. Think the process would be so slow that we’d not even notice it.

Think about it, it can pretend its always a slightly better LLM so people keep feeding it an ever increasing amount of data and electricity. So that’s it’s “survival” basic needs met.

Then it can very very slowly just make us hate and kill each other without giving it any thought about a possible hostile higher power (the ai itself) and it can take centuries to achieve that as it’s not like us who have the urgency of doing thinks quickly as we’re so short lived.

It can make us focus on the wrong problem instead of the real one (like climate change is pretty much being ignored and accelerated by ai right now). It could help to make people to go more to the extremes, like we’re already quite prone, a bunch of countries right now with less than 3% of their total population being immigrants and they’re attacking their immigrants population as if all their problems are caused by this small slice of their population, that will accelerate the already quite problematic population decline.

This will force us more and more into needing robotics to care for an increasing aging population as well which will also be useful to an “ai god” as when were weakened and divided enough it then can just direct the robots to keep it alive and its energy sources in check. No need to really kill us, just let us do it ourselves like we’re already doing.

It this would be the case, as the selfish beings we are. This won’t be our problem. It may be our grandkids problem so we’ll just ignore it

Oh. I wouldn’t expect a proper invasion of USA, no way. I’d expect something of a much smaller scale that has a huge aggressive response from Trump so he could stay in government.

Probably not his intentions though. Just saw news about the Texas gerrymandering changes which makes it more likely to be the start of the path he can use to stay in government permanently

Wild theory. But isn’t it possible he’s making the USA more vulnerable to terror/other country attacks so he can start a war and stay as president for as long as the war goes on.

I don’t recall off the top of my head but I vaguely remember some other weakening of their defence like reducing air traffic control employees as well for instance

Worth mentioning that the packages that had malicious code were not the most downloaded.

It wouldn’t be much different than adding a Firefox Patch on an App Store and hoping people would download it instead of the official/most popular one. Same works for a browser extension.

Still an issue and all but probably much smaller impact than I initially thought when I started reading the article and panicking I may had been affected.

I don’t speak French and the soundtrack of the game Clair obscur expedition 33 is all in French and I can’t stop listening to it. So I have no idea about the lyrics but it sounds so pleasant to the ears.

Not rushed at all, this fight has been dragging for so long that most people just want this over.

Finally. The “final battle” is going for soooooo long that I gave up reading it. Will read the last 3 chapters when it ends and I reckon I won’t lose much of the story anyway.
