This is the dream for me really. Alas I am nearly 10 years later to the starting line than you.

Approximately 30% of my income goes to cost of living and with the rest I'd say I invest about 30% and the rest sits in a HYSA at 5.2% interest. Generally pretty frugal while allowing meaningful trips and travel.

I find the home ownership pieces wildly daunting as I do not know the market anywhere and am a firm believer in "past performance is no guarantee of future success" so i remain skeptical of infinite growth in housing.

Anyways thanks for the thoughts mate!

Were you between 20-35 how would you allocate your first 100k saved?

China had responded to the Dalai Lama’s succession plans by asserting that any reincarnation must receive approval from Beijing.

o_o

any and all reincarnations please request approval or prepare for re-reincarnation

following up this thread with a sadly laughable comment from Beijing as this story progresses.

All my non profit/charity donations are informed by Effective Altruism. I'm very much against inefficient or highly bureaucratic organizations where 98c of your € goes to maintaining a monolith.

EA's recommendations are based on: Extreme effectiveness, Research based practices, and Third-party evaluation.

Strongly recommend them as a way to make sure your donations impact the most lives.

you seem to be mistaking this for hubris. The CCP means to use the finding of the next Dalai Lama as a tool to further destroy Tibetan culture and identity, as they have done with the Panchen Lama.

To me, this indicates that he is feeling more confident in their ability to find the first(?) Dalai Lama outside of occupied Tibet - and keep them safe from abduction.

Prices keep climbing, so I’m trying to pick my battles in the supermarket. Which items do you refuse to cheap out on, and why? Taste, health, longevity, peace of mind… I’d love to hear what’s worth the few extra dollars for you.

For me, it’s honey from local beekeepers—supermarket brands locally are known to sell fake or adulterated sugar syrup as honey.
