Depends on the support case you got. If it’s technical you have basically 24/7. I am in Germany but had once a hard drive failure in a server at 1am contacted technical support and it took about 30 minutes overall and the new drive was resilvering and the server back online. Takes a bit as the NOC needs to go to the data center and so on.

Best to contact support. And if power button isn’t light up check bot Keyboard connections if they are seated correctly and if there is no short. My first keyboard had a short and melted it’s connector. And on the way killed the rest of the mainboard too.

Also try to record the LED flashing. It’s a self test and the first 10 or so are components tested by the bios.

This is for the 12th gen but the pattern is the same on AMD.

the assembly was no problem

I wish. Keyboard had a short. I didn't notice it a first maybe it killed the mainboard too because despite it powering on and going through selftest without issue (except keyboard of course) no output on screen (only some flickering) and no external screen.

But must say support is great and fast and after some diagnosis got my replacement unit and keyboard. FedEx is s**t in germany though whis they would use some other parcel service.

Not a windows user here under Linux doing my usuals devils work with VSCode running and a dozen or so shells. Mid brightness. It runs for 4 to 5 hours with ease. Maybe even longer but that was the longest I used it til now. But it’s only 3 days I had the working replacement to my original Order.

$7.99 - you are lucky if that thing will even do USB3 on both ports. Let alone PD and Thunderbolt.

The problem is a lot of people here are beginners and have no real clue about network security. And opening a port is opening a door. If you have a bouncer that clears people beforehand then you can keep the door open. But you will still need to keep your bouncer trained so he can take care of people you don’t want. Same with software. Keep it updated and have security enhancements in place like 2FA and analysis tools like crowdsec or fail2ban. And the open port might not an issue at all.

But if you open a device like a NAS (cough QNAP cough) then you have a higher security risk.

TLDR; if you know what you are doing it might not have implications.

Moved on from compose ages ago. So should you.

As long as it is not reachable from any untrusted network like the Internet. It’s as safe as your home network is.

Nope. Plain old Almalinux and deploy my services with ansible. I don’t see benefits in the bloatware that any UI on a server is (for me).

And I know I will get hat for this from a part of the community but that’s just my humble opinion.

I run three piholes with gravity sync and have none of the problems you describe.

But pihole isn’t big magic it’s basically a dnsmasq with some management stuff around it. you could host a dnsmasq yourself and just fill the filter rules in the config file your self with ansible. The adliges are publicly available just get them with Ansible and parse them into a dnsmasq config template.

Here is an blog about it. https://alblue.bandlem.com/2020/05/using-dnsmasq.html

That’s what I expected but now one month of diagnostic with support later I wait for the replacement unit because the Keyboarddeck had a short and took the mainboard and display with it.

So be happy that it was only 10 minutes. Don’t get me wrong support was great but still would have loved to have your experience.

Maybe ask r/piracy. Not sure what this has to do with self hosting.
