The follow up phone calls were funny, but it's concerning that a person legitimately believed he was law enforcement. Impersonating law enforcement is a crime. I hope he consulted with a lawyer.

I think it's a myth that your online accounts can't be connected to you. Even if you're exclusively using burner phones connected through a VPN, people could trace you if they really wanted to. I'm honest online and in person, and I'll accept the consequence of anything I post.

Ton of matches at the start and then you run out. Unless you’re really attractive/in a very dense area, take your time with the matches. My very first one was really legit, showed up and texted back consistently. If I had known how rare that is, I wouldn’t have quit until it was for sure over.
But yeah it’s basically just a bulletin board. You’re not going to meet your dream person. You’re going to meet randoms you wouldn’t run into otherwise.
