Intelligent dance music (commonly abbreviated as IDM) is a style of electronic music originating in the early 1990s, defined by idiosyncratic experimentation rather than specific genre constraints. It emerged from the culture and sound palette of electronic and rave music styles such as ambient techno, acid house, Detroit techno and breakbeat; it has been regarded as better suited to home listening than dancing. Prominent artists associated with it include Aphex Twin, Autechre, Squarepusher, Venetian Snares, Boards of Canada, Telefon Tel Aviv, μ-Ziq, the Black Dog, the Future Sound of London, and Luke Vibert.

New EP from Norwegian upsammy. Very interesting artist. This release is probably a bit more danceable than the previous ones, I recommend the full one as the progression is real nice. It is on Spotify and most likely Bandcamp as well.

This stuff sounds similar to his old Astrobotnia releases!

According to Discogs, there is no volume 1 https://www.discogs.com/artist/15690-Aleksi-Per%C3%A4l%C3%A4?searchParam=vortex

I haven't gotten to listen to all of this yet, but it seems good

I just noticed the tags on this album include Rephlex, Mike P still puts the Rephlex tag on all of his albums 😢

Yes I know two posts in ten minutes, I am sorry, but this is great stuff. Glitchy, jazzy and just plain interesting. Switches it up a lot.

Love this track. Adam Johnson was completely unknown to me, stumbled upon by accident through the VA that this video takes it's bg from. I highly recommend both Adam Johnson in general and that VA ("mas confusion", haha get it? sorry I am tired), as it includes many IDM artists that I dare say are lost to time? Many I never heard the name of, doing pretty interesting stuff.

Netsh is a hidden gem I really thought would stop being hidden, and just become a gem that everyone agreed was beautiful. Sadly, I never see any mentions of this artist online, and they don't seem to have many listeners on streaming platforms..

Netsh is without a doubt the most underrated artist I know, and I listen to a lot of obscure shit (good shit) so there are a lot of contenders to that title.

Btw, if you are a fan of Ambient, then the album "To My Creators" is an incredibly beautiful album, reminiscent in style (and quality) of Dylan Henner at times.

Mike (µ-Ziq) & Lara (Meemo Comma) with music and chat. This week’s show is dedicated to Venetian Snares (aka Aaron Funk), playing exclusive, rare and unreleased tracks of his throughout the show. Enjoy!
