I just love having random facts that usually bore people to death. Share your random car facts. Make them boring or interesting. Or both...!

  •  BMW orange interior lights use a wavelength of 605 nanometers, which is the best visible wavelenght in the night

  • The Golf MK5 gained an antenna halfway though its life. Which to me is weird: is feels like something they would delete with a facelift

  • Gasoline is lighter than water: 0,7 kilo per liter

  • Besides Germany and the Isle of Man, there is no speedlimit for highways in the Vatican. Though there are no highways there...

  • Toyota's with a CVT but without a hybrid component could go as fast in reverse as they go forward, but they are limited. Like the old Dutch cars from DAF. The hybrids use the electric motor to reverse, so they cant.

  • The first generation Cayenne has a VR6 engine, but is as slow as a Toyota Yaris is now

What do I mean by junior big blocks? I mean the smallest-displacement big block configuration engines offered by Detroit at the height of the musclecar craze, usually 400 cubic inches or smaller. Chrysler had the 383 and the short-lived 400. Chevy had the 396 and the "400" which was actually a 402.

It was Ford, however, who really took the small-displacement big-block formula and ran with it. Its venerable FE-series big block engine could be had in a variety of smaller cube configurations including a 332, 352, and 390 passenger car engines. A smaller 360 cubic inch version of the FE was available for light trucks all throughout the 1970s, as well as an extra stout 391 cubic inch "FT" version for medium and heavy duty trucks and buses.

I've driven or rode in at least one example of all three, but I'm especially impressed with the level of oomph that the 390 FE Ford has right off idle. While the Chevy and Mopar require a tad more throttle, the 390 will shove you hard into the seat with just a mere tap of the gas. The only drawback is how the standard FE passenger car heads run out of breath fairly quickly.

I currently have a rebuildable Chevy 396 engine core sitting on my garage floor right now, but I'd love to take the Ford 390 half-ass pile of parts I was given, build it, stick it in a sleeper notchback Mustang, and feel that awesome surge of torque squirting the car away from stoplights.

Went from my teens and twenties wanting nothing but hot boy cars (Evo's,E36,S2K's) to wanting nothing more than comfort as my top priority. Still love the lux hot boy stuff like BMW but justifying it with reliability also goes hand in hand with the comfort.

Edit: didn't expect this post to blow up but keep the comments coming I'm still reading them all!

Update after Tesla over-reported the number of cars it sold to Claim EV Rebate in Canada before it expired. Across four different Tesla dealerships in Canada, the company claimed it sold over 8,600 vehicles in three days. Since each EV sold earned a $5,000 rebate while the program was active, this resulted in over CAD 43.1 million headed Tesla’s way.

As the title said. Whats the weirdest, pointless (to the average person) car to have resto-modded? Please share pictures if you have them! Could be a neutered C3/C4 Corrvette, or a boxy van/truck, but really looking for emissions-choked "boxy" sedans/wagons/coupes from the mid 70s-early 90s.

Show me what you've got!

Back in 2019 I made a post about purchasing my dream car, a factory ordered C7 Z06 with a manual. Almost 5 years later I had an opportunity to buy a first model year 2023 Z06 at MSRP that someone had backed out on so I sold my C7Z.

Before and after that I've enjoyed quite a few different vehicles but they weren't the same, I always missed my C7Z and have been on the look out for the perfect one. I'm quite picky so the car needed to be red or yellow and have certain options like comp seats, carbon interior etc.

I came across a 2016 C7 Z06 C7.R special edition in January. For anyone that doesn't know what that means, basically its a fully loaded Z06, it had Z07, ceramic brakes, exposed carbon splitter, side skirts, hood, comp seats. Basically every option possible except it can only be had in black or yellow. It also has unique wheels with yellow stripes and the Corvette racing jake skull on the hood and C7.R graphics on the roof. GM made 500 of these for the US and 150 for the rest of the world, they all have a unique vin. Mine is number 422 and was actually imported from the US to Canada in 2018.

Besides the carbon fiber and Z07 it is optioned similarly to my last C7Z except its yellow instead of red. For a 2016 it only has 5500 miles on it and has fully body ppf. Nice C7 manual Z06s are still going for good money and are difficult to find, this was 1 of 3 coupes for sale in Canada so I jumped on it as it was the perfect build for me.

With the weather starting to warm up I've taken it out a couple of times for some quick drives and its everything I remember. Its not as loud as I remember but the C8Z exhaust is hard to top, I'm not sure how its legal from the factory, its still good though. The shifter feels great, the clutch is easy to use, the view over the hood is awesome with the fender sticking out and then it drops down into a canyon before come back up to meet the supercharger bulge. The car itself I think hasn't aged a bit on the exterior, it still looks amazing for being a 10 year old design and I think it will continue to age very well.

I'm happy to be back in a C7. SavageGeese did a good video on this car and why its special in today's automotive landscape. You just can't get an overpowered front engine RWD V8 sports car with a stick anymore and its why I love these cars.

Coming summer, I'll be going to the first couple of days of the monterey car week. I'll be there 8-11th of August. I've already bought tickets to go to Laguna Seca on the 9th and 10th for the hill climb and stuff. I was wondering if people have any tips on places to go, things to see, spots to eat at and things I should definitely not miss during my time there. If anybody has any good spots for photography at Laguna Seca for track action that would be great to hear too!

They’ve been saying this for a while now but seems like this is confirmation the A-Class is dead along with the AMG variants. RIP
