Cartography Anarchy

Hey all,

everybody pray for sh.itjust.works as I have chosen that instance for our new community.

Why sh.itjust.works? First, because it was the easiest to set up. Secondly, it is a pretty unserious instance, and if there is one thing I want for cartographyanarchy is to continue our tradition of whimsey and white collar crime.

Please take a moment to join our new community, and please make at least one post to inflate our numbers to concerning levels.

Alright thank you.

I will be taking steps to make this transition as smooth and obnoxious as possible.

First, I will of course have a new meep_launcher account. This doesn't effect anyone but I wanted to say this to remind everyone I exist and to fill that pit in my soul that can only be filled with constant adoration and attention.

Second, I will set up another community of the same name, taking care to preserve the essence of what we have here while burning any and all incriminating evidence.

Third, you will expect a stickied post to redirect to the new community in the new instance that never asked for this.

Fourth, I will call open season on posting, reposting, and filling the new community with any and all maps that are found here. I'm much more concerned with the community building back up as soon as possible over whatever fake internet points people have accrued. Please, take all my memes, I'm not going to go through the trouble to try and move everything over. We can come back to this instance when it is locked later to remember the good ol' days.

Fifth, I will make a strong drink to unwind. Hell, comment if you'd be interested in joining me, I can set up time to do a lil' video hangout to celebrate the transition so long as we are the good kind of weird.

My plan is to get this done by Sunday June 8th, 11:43 Pacific Standard Time. Is that my time zone? No, but I miss Seattle.

IF THIS DOESN'T GET DONE IN TIME

I requested to be drawn and quartered, and someone else, preferably from our mod team, can take up the torch. I'm always happy to lead when I can, but I rely on this community to drag my body across the finish line.

Anyway, it's been an honor to make maps with you, and here's to a thousand year reign of terror going forward.

Lemm.ee (cartographyanarchy's home instance) is shutting down and I love this community so I'd like to ask the mods of this community to lock it -> redirect the people to a new community on another instance of their choosing.

Locking this community would be nice because even after lemm.ee shuts down this community and its history will be visible on other instances, but if I, for example, post something here afterwards it wont federate since lemm.ee (the community's host instance) no longer takes posts from other instances and federate the new content to others. My new posts will only be visible to my fellow sopulis.

Mark your calendars everyone. We have a new national holiday.

cartographyanarchy@lemm.ee was something I stole from that other site, and with very minimal work I rode on the hard work of others to give me a feeling of superiority. I am so proud of all the work I took credit for, and for all the maps that create a reality we'd rather live in.

This is a fantastic Christmas gift, and I will donate all the money I have made on this site to the Church of Latter Day Saints and also the Church of the Satanic Temple just to cover my bases. I hope we all celebrate tonight by drinking a handle of hand sanitizer, snorting some ketamine, giving whipits to at risk youth, and fighting a cop with a sword.

We have done some amazing work, and I have made some amazing announcements to celebrate arbitrary subscription milestones which is what head mods do I guess. I want to thank thepiccardmanuever@lemmy.world for constantly posting at the expense of their family and friends, probablynaked@lemmy.world for teaching me how to sniff glue, pugjesus@lemmy.world for their posts and commitment to corporate espionage, and for all of you who came here by mistake. You may never leave.
