A community for Cartographers with nothing left to lose.

We are agents of chaos I've created this to be the alternative to the community I used to manage on the website that shalt not be named "mapporncirclejerk"
Live and let die Meme trends happen, so please don't message mods asking to take down maps that are repetitive to a bit.
Reposts Vs. Covers Not all reposts are evil- if someone posts something that has been done years ago, it serves to bring old memes to the new users. I call these meme covers. However it can be done in excess which makes it a repost and spam. Mods will determine if a post is a cover or a repost.
No impersonating mods I can't believe I had to make this rule.
No harassing mods on an appeal We can talk it out, and we will be acting in good faith when making decisions. If you disagree with a removal, you are free to message for clarification or to appeal by giving some added context.
Bans Bans will be set to a maximum of 365 days for humans, and a minimum of 365 years for bots. I believe people can change, so if you are banned for good reason, do know that it is not permanent, it is just a way to say "take time to grow and come back when you are ready".

It's a shame that we can't merge all of our content here with a new community.
Someone mentioned in another thread that Piefed has a "move community" function that helps facilitate this process.

And yeah that is truly a shame. Same thing happened with !sillydrawingrequests@lemmy.autism.place and while we made !sillydrawingrequests@sopuli.xyz many of the new instances dont show the beautiful creations that people made in the original community :(
You're welcome. Even though I mentioned the piefed community move function, I hesitate to move active communities there because it's all still very new, both the instance and the software.
Regarding the situation with sillydrawingrequests, wouldn't it be possible to link from the new community to the local copy of the old community either on the same instance as the new one or on some other major instance that may have the most old content? I'm not exactly sure how local copies work, if when a remote community gets added locally if the local instance copies all or only recent content.
Sadly I can't help with that - I haven't yet looked at all into piefed. Hope you find people who can help you out!
And I tried that but unfortunately a cool feature of lemmy (soon) and in many lemmy apps is kinda fighting against that: if I link sopuli's version of it here, you'll most likely get redirected to your local version of it for convenience (its a nice feature in general).
Hey thanks all, sorry I've been a bit slammed with work.
Considering that we popped up to 1k followers in about a year, I'm confident we can get things back up pretty fast.
I'll get a new community set up this weekend. If I don't, either harass me or just take over, I'm currently producing a musical and music directing 4 different shows so I'm pretty pooped.

Yeah sh.itjust.works is also great for this. So far suggestions include:

I'm happy with any of those. Hope mods have some free time to work on this before the shutdown.
