Mountain area: 3,500,000 m2

Average height of the mountain: 100 meters

A govt needs some area to build some stuff. I'm trying to figure out if it would be cheaper for them to remove a mountain (this area is owned by govt so its basically free real estate), or paying individual land owners ($15-20/m2).

Point of mountain removal is to make this place suitable for development (industrial area). So probably they don't have to remove the entire mountain

If so, why and what do you tag them? What fits your bill as to tag and remember someone and to just leave it be?

Oh, bonus question, if you tag people, what am I tagged as? 🥺

I find this very concerning that people protesting a genocide and display flags of terrorist organisations is somehow a worse crime that the actual genocide itself.

It doesn’t make sense when we have musicians being held to a higher standard than countries and our own fucking government. Makes me want to fly a Hezbollah flag myself. I would argue flying the Union Jack is supporting terror around the world. The same as that Yankee flag.

Edit: Ive just got out of surgery with a GA so will reply to these once I feel human again.

My girlfriend is really slow at text roleplaying. It's been getting worse, and today we got mad at her because we went two hours in her game without any plot happening during a session where everyone was in voice call.

Do you have any advice for her on how to improve the pacing of her game?

I've been watching Rob Dahm for a long time and he's been documenting an old indycar he got his hands on with the awesome cosworth turbo v8. Its super fascinating. I've been trying to find others and the stuff I am finding isn't quite the same.

Looking for more "doing it on a budget" vs like Ferrari's cliente program.

just to outline this fictitious would you rather, you rich enough to retire cryogenic preservation is perfect. you could live out the rest of your life in retirement and see the world evolve "like god intended", or you can adopt cryogenic lifestyle where you freeze yourself for however long you want and stay thawed for however long you want but your still a human with natural human lifespan so you will eventually die.

of course contingencies are allowed if you think something cataclysmic will happened you can be dethawed abruptly and considering future medicines to extend your lifespan is allowed

Have you ever read a novel, comic, manga, watched a movie, play, TV show etc., and you found yourself invested in a side character? Ever cared for and felt more intrigued by that side character than the mains? If so, what character was it and what are some.things that make you so interested in them?

Somebody in the world pays $669 for this? I think they're supposed to pay people to tolerate their pretentious illogical fake garbage

I've always wanted to understand what is actually meant by this. I have wanted to get into programming for years, did some basic python and c, but could never really progress. Not necessarily a linux question but I know since most distros come with libraries already, it's popular to use for programming.

I have trouble understanding what people are actually programming if it isn't their job. Like, you go to your computer and start working on...what? I don't know enough to make an entire program or debug a game, so im just unsure what people do especially when starting out.

Also I don't really want to learn it for a job. I just want to learn it to know it. But im not sure how to apply it to anything realistic.

Either abstract, for lack of a better word, (like software/info-related) or non-abstract (physical tools/resources).

Talking about using Mastodon in a web browser, not a phone app.

Using the standard web interface is awful for me. It took me embarrassingly long to realize it was showing me replies above showing me what they were replying to... sometimes. Often I can never actually find the post that was being replied to. Can't find anything in Settings to fix it.

Quickly tried Phanpy and it seems do things right on first glance, but soon I realize that again, I'm being shown replies without being shown the OP. At least I can eventually get to see the OP if I click on two things (first, faded message above reply, then "Go to Top"). Again, can't find anything in Settings to fix it.

I want something like below, that shows me (with no clicking required) the OPs in reverse chronological order but grouped (with obvious graphical indication like a box, borders or something) with its replies below in chronological order:

  • Original Post 2
    • Reply 2.1
    • Reply 2.2

  • Original Post 1
    • Reply 1.1
    • Reply 1.2

Is there a frontend that does this?

Crosspost ***

I’m writing to follow up on the QP tool here- because I posted before, and it was incredibly helpful. Thanks to those who helped out with all the directions.

RECAP:

Been building a tiny tool to share structured thoughts fast- no tabs, just type and share.

It’s called Quickpoint → https://quickpoint.me/

Curious what people think it’s for. Some use it like a notepad, some for demos or quick specs.

If you gave it 30 seconds:

- What’s your gut sense of what this is? Would you actually use it for anything? What would stop you from using it twice?

Thanks — Trying to see who might use this and for what and adapt accordingly.

Really appreciate any feedback that you can give.

The 10% stacks additively, each time you do the deal, this status is applied to a different 10%. If you sacrifice 10 fingers, the entire world is guaranteed basic human needs (food, water, shelter, clothing, healthcate, etc...)

Nobody knows you saved them. Would you do it?

If everyone knows about the fact that you can do this deal, would that change your mind?

I've been thinking about some games that can be done in order to get people drawing, mostly as a means to give some variation to kids I've been teaching.

So far, I've found/thought about the following:

  1. I go through body parts, one at a time, like "torso". Everyone draws it. Once done, they pass the paper to another person, then I state another body part, rinse and repeat until it's fully done
  2. One person has to describe a thing or creature without naming it, everyone else has to draw according to what's being described
  3. Give them 3 lists, one of "who", one of "where" and one of "doing", where they pick one option from each and have to draw it, so others have to figure what it is. For instance, "(Who) Medic / (Where) Space / (Doing) Playing games with friends"

What else would you suggest?

I'm based in the UK and on an apprenticeship programme at work. After completing a general IT technician course at level 3 I'm moving onto a level 4 course. It looks like my choices are going to be devops or network engineering. I know a little about networks but I know nothing about devops. My question is, which is likely to give me more career opportunities?
