Most instances have a support community for discussing technical issues with that particular server.

As each instance names these slightly differently, I thought I'd create a thread to collect as many as possible.

Lemmy:

Mbin:

PieFed:

Please comment below with equivalent communities and I'll add them to the list.

I would also recommend that instance admins include a link to their meta/support community in the sidebar of their instance.

On a somewhat related note, do any instance admins still have Reddit accounts they would be willing to reveal here?

I've come across many Redditors who are interested in Lemmy but give up after experiencing issues on signup. I think the ability to have instance admins reach out to users on Reddit directly could be a useful tool in reducing the friction of the Lemmy onboarding process.

If you are an instance admin and are comfortable sharing your Reddit username, please do so below.

I tried to make a guide for people interested in gaming on Piefed/Lemmy.

Feel free to add any other communities that are active.

note that they (r/technology or Reddit?) censor PieFed, I had to say

Pie-Fed (without the hyphen, Reddit is censoring these comments)

Just noting the many issues I'm seeing talked about on r/BlueSkySocial with the childish management. Not saying that most people are about to leave, but this /could/ cause a downstream effect?

Don’t really frequent it all that much. Not sure when this happened

crossposting this here cause at least I know I'm not subscribed to !reddit@lemmy.world so I didn't see this until I noticed it myself and then did a search on Lemmy

Screenshotting it because sometimes those kind of posts gets deleted when the OP just wants to diss the Threadiverse

Hi y'all just wanted to let you know your community icon and banner seem to be broken.

Cheers, Unruffled.

We need an alternative that supports cooperatives and guarantees decent moderation.

The survey is open for 1 week. To gauge feedback for the project.

I've seen PrivacyPack go Viral on subs like r/deGoogle etc.

Having PieFed etc. in here could help raise awareness I made a Pull Request to add it, hopefully it gets accepted https://github.com/ente-io/privacypack/pull/122

Hey guys, so I've been working on a minimal, text-based Reddit alternative for the past few months, and I think it’s coming along nicely.

I’m calling it Nooki (name might change in the future). For now, it’s text-only posts. This could change if it takes off and people want to share images or other media.

It has most of the basic features of Reddit, and I’d love to get your feedback on the UI and any features you’d like to see added.

Follow-up to yesterday's post, where I suggested r/okbuddyrosalyn consider moving to !okbuddyrosalyn@lemmy.world.

https://old.reddit.com/r/okbuddyrosalyn/comments/1n4o6uk/should_we_consider_moving_off_of_reddit/

Comments are mixed. Several users seem open to moving, which is nice.

Most counterarguments seem to be as follows:

  • "Reddit haven't banned us yet, why should we move now?"
  • "People don't use Lemmy, so people won't use Lemmy."
  • "People use Discord."

No response from any moderators yet, but I just tagged one, and we'll see if they respond.

If you still have an account, feel free to help out in the Reddit thread, but keep in mind that most Redditors are still unfamiliar with Lemmy or the Fediverse. We were once newbies too :)

If you're not familiar with r/okbuddyrosalyn, it is focused on parody edits of Calvin and Hobbes comic strips. The subreddit was recently struck with posts removed for unclear copyright claims, and one of their long-time moderators and prolific posters was banned.

I just posted on the subreddit, suggesting they move to !okbuddyrosalyn@lemmy.world. We'll see how it goes.

If you still have a Reddit account, feel free to help out in that thread. There will likely be people who are unfamiliar with Lemmy or the Fediverse, so keep that in mind when replying. We were once newbies too :)
