Alessia Cara is back in the studio!

She just posted the following on Insta: https://www.instagram.com/p/C5Th4IMutTY/

Alessia's a very talented and frankly underrated young singer-songwriter. Hopefully we see a new album from her soon!

Beyoncé has come back with her another concept album on behalf of her "Act" trilogy, a new and surprising style by her artistry, a fusion of the rustic vibe of humble countryside and the spiritual sound of her proud roots.

Nicely, two tracks stand out to me unexpectedly: Dolly Parton's pleasing iconic song turned into a fierce revision "Jolene", and a passionate duet of Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus "II Most Wanted".

The tragic story of Irene Cara: Ripped off by her label, blacklisted, abandoned by Hollywood... and paid less than $200 for "What a Feeling"

Cara, who passed away in 2022, was an incredibly talented singer and actress.

In 1983, her song "What a Feeling" was number one on the Billboard chart for six weeks.

Yet by 1987, her album was scrapped by her label, amidst a lengthy legal battle for unpaid royalties.

She eventually won the lawsuit, being awarded $1.3 million in unpaid royalties, but was blacklisted by both the record and film industries:

Swift spotted in Sydney 😲

There's a good display on them at the Australian Museum, which is well worth the price of (free) admission.

When it comes to female artists, we really haven't learnt, have we?

2021: Yay! Britney's free! Gees, we were kinda (collectively) arseholes to her, weren't we? We'll never be so nasty and cruel to a female artist again.

2022: Did you watch the Janet documentary? The way Janet took the blame for the Superbowl incident while Justin was protected was just so racist and misogynistic. We'll never be so nasty and cruel to a female artist again.

2024: Taylor Swift plotted with the White House, the Deep State, and the NFL to rig the Superbowl! It's totally not cool to post the whereabouts of Elon's private jet, but Fox News will gladly report on the emissions from Taylor's.

Ten years after the Ten tour that became a farewell, the girls are planning a tour but not new music — because the studio would feel too weird without Sarah Harding, who has been claimed by cancer.
