we should disable all cars and public transport for a week to see whether people's legs still work
Without cars, people can walk, but not go very far. Without AI, people can think like they used to, just without slop being introduced in the mess.
Don't try to get smart using false equivalence. You have a level of stupidity that even perfect AI can't fix.
But AI allows us to create meaningless bullshit in a FRACTION of the time! How would we keep up that pace? Plus, ou don't even have to be skilled at doing the thing the old fashioned way to be able to use AI to look competent to someone extremely credulous! Think about this! You're taking away people's skills!

You are correct, and people used beasts of burden before that.
