If you had it purchased through iTunes in the past, it should be upgraded for free.

Her nips are now in 4k. This changes everything

[–] JJJAAABBB123@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The 4k blue ray reviews are coming out. Looks amazing apparently.

Did they add an alternative ending?

[–] d53197@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] FamousT-Rex@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I made my own version with the deleted scenes and the alternate ending using a 35MM cut of the film

[–] DerGJoo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So if you had already bought the film and they upgrade it, you don’t have to pay for the upgrade, right?

[–] Infinite_Opposite_24@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Nice. I see it in my 4K folder but sadly no free upgrade for me. 😫

[–] dartmoo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Not yet available in the UK store.

[–] ElderSmackJack@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Noticed this last night (US). I checked it last week and it was still HD, so this is very recent.

Looks like you don’t have it purchased through iTunes, as there is the Disney+ badge right above the Play button. If you have it purchased, it wouldn’t say to open in Disney+. Try scrolling down on that page to see the purchase options

Not in Vietnam…

[–] Korsera94@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The movie itself is not even available here. Next!

[–] caffeinatedpun@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I missed the 4K release in theaters. Husband and I were gonna go for Valentine’s Day then we got COVID. I was super bummed. And my iTunes copy hasn’t upgraded yet. 😞

[–] liquilife@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That was the theater version in 3d. Which was pretty amazing.

[–] caffeinatedpun@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I forgot it was in 3D as well. I’m still so bummed I missed it. I got to see it in theaters for the Titanic’s 100th anniversary, so that was pretty cool though.

[–] Aion2099@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The abyss is in theatres for one day in December. I forget which day though.

[–] eli_burdette@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

December 6th!

[–] Xander75@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Aliens and True Lies are also getting a 4K release soon

[–] Secret_Essay_5644@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I hope it also means True Lies will come to digital download in 4K.

[–] Xander75@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If I’m correct there will be UHD releases in Q1 of 2024 of True Lies, Aliens and The Abyss. Digital releases in december ‘23.

[–] Pwrnstar@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

not on my country (Portugal)

[–] Sad_Present_7694@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I was literally in the middle of watching the movie when I saw this post.

Exited out, started it again. It’s amazing in 4K, astounding how much better it looks.

[–] milquetoast_wheatley@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Just checked it out. Picture on my 14PM is amazing. Not surprised, I saw it for the first time in theaters fully restored and it was incredible.

[–] truejdm86@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Sound is already amazing 10 seconds in

[–] lshaw52@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It’s weird. When I search for it in iTunes, it shows 4K. But when I go to watch it in the AppleTv app it’s still HD.

[–] THX-----1138@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Go into the 4K/HDR folder/section under your Apple TV app within your library... find Titanic and there and play it, it should play properly.

[–] theped26@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

When I searched it up through Apple TV it says it’s still in HD, I’m in the UK btw.

[–] Mitenpat@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It's probably usa only then.

[–] MixAway@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Same here. Don’t understand why.

[–] Oneota@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Do you subscribe to Paramount+ or Showtime? It’s available there, but only in 1080p, so it might be showing you that option instead.

[–] iDavid956@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

If you had a standard definition iTunes digital copy of Titanic and re-purchased it to upgrade to HD (and later 4K), is your purchased copy playing in 4K HDR? Mine only does if I play directly from my movie library on my Apple TV 4K. (And that was only after I deleted and un-deleted it from my library using the Apple TV app on my Mac.) If I perform a Siri search on my Apple TV 4K, the result it finds plays in what seems to be below 480p resolution but it is in HDR.

If anyone who did the same with this movie can try checking and see what results you get trying to play it back both ways, I’d like to know. One more thing, my Apple TV is on the latest Public Beta.

[–] voltaicass@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I only had the SD digital copy and mine is now showing 4K, so it looks like everyone got the upgrade.

[–] Secret_Essay_5644@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Same thing happened with the Lord of the Rings when they released the 4K edition a few years ago. It was such a nice surprise when it quietly upgraded to the new version.

[–] goodcowfilms@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Did you actually try playing it? I redeemed the Bluray digital code years ago, which was only SD at the time. It's showing under 4K in the TV app, and has the 4K badge in the Movies app, but playback is definitely not 4K.

In the iTunes Store, it's asking me to buy it for $7.99 in HD/4K, but if I click "available in SD" that version has the cloud download icon.

[–] Grundlepowder@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Everyone knows the most superior way to watch the best masterpiece by James Cameron is by watching Titanic on VHS!

[–] Darksol503@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

And starting it on tape 2! Haha

[–] kjb86@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] herbalblend@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

soo if I buy it right now for $7.99 (HD) will I get the upgrade?

I'm not seeing the 4k call outs. Is this a short term loophole or would I be stuck at 1080?

[–] JJJAAABBB123@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Description says “remastered in 4k by James Cameron”

[–] Littlefabio07@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I saw this, and immediately stopped what I was doing to turn on Titanic.

It looks fantastic! Thanks for the heads up!

[–] V_DocBrown@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Does it show how much more room Rose had on that headboard?

[–] AloysBane@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

A lot of these 4k upgrades look awful

[–] everyonep00p5@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It said 4K and Atmos yesterday. But, I could not get Atmos to output. When I rechecked today, it got downgraded to HD. Not gonna stress about it. The disc arrives next week.

[–] ricartrikar@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Any updates on the extras? Director commentary is included?

[–] caffeinatedpun@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] orlandoatonjr@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Is it true that since I purchased Titanic (HD) through iTunes in the past, I'll receive the upgraded 4K version for free? However, I think this movie has been made unavailable in my country but remained in my library. Will I still receive an upgrade?
