I just want to say after 465 KC, I've never found any boss as fun and rewarding to learn and optimize as Yama. There are a variety of different methods of killing the boss, and the amount you are rewarded is directly proportional to the amount of effort you put into learning the fight, with each tier of mechanical difficulty resulting in faster kills/hr.

We have the entry-level mage camp for 7-8 min clears, melee P1+P2 and mage the final phase for 6-7 min clears, donofly until jellys for 5-6 mins. Learn the transition into the infinite loop, and you're now looking at 4:30 clears. Then move on to nofly, which still hasn't fully clicked for me yet, and you're looking at sub 4-min clears. The combination of precise clicks, staying in cycle, switching gear, and adapting to increased attack speed creates a really unique experience that no other boss has.

There are so many other small optimizations you can make on the other phases too, and I like how this boss rewards you for playing better rather than completely slamming the door in your face for not executing perfectly. If you fall out of cycle, you can recover the kill by maging. Really looking forward to seeing more content that rewards players' time, both in the reasonableness of the grind and the benefit from skill expression.

P.S. Might want to do another pass on the acquisition contracts system though

With visual metronome set to 7 (Yama's enrage attack speed) - the very last number you see when you kill the judge, before the screen goes black is the same tick that Yama will attack on. That's the magic number.

When the screen goes black, your metronome above your characters head will disappear (and continue counting). The last number you see before the metronome disappears is the same tick Yama will hit you on. This makes getting into nofly so much easier if you fall out of cycle. Stand 1 or 2 tiles away from Yama, and click on him when the magic number is over your head. You will attack Yama 1 tick after he initiates his attack, meaning that you can stand there and attack him 2 times before needing to step away.

Example - if the last number I saw before teleporting away from the judge was a 3, I know I am always safe to click on Yama on 3 (or 4), when I'm 1 or 2 tiles away. You can also click on Yama on 4 and therefore attack 2 ticks after his attack. If using Emberlight or a 4 tick weapon, you'll still get 2 hits off before needing to step away.

I was dying repeatedly until I figured this out watching one of my clips back. I went back in with this knowledge and first try got the kill with tons of supplies left. I put the metronome over my characters head and made it absolutely massive.

My clan has 7 zuk helmers and another 20 or so blorva. One guy with a 48 minute inferno pb and ~80 inferno kc, a lot more with really good colosseum pbs, many sub 20 including myself. These are some stacked gamers. Quite a few were excited to do contracts on Friday but by the time the squad got home. Only 1 has made an attempt and gave up within 2 hours running sensory clouding. We all watched as he died over and over along with the streamers.

I also had a few contracts ready for Friday, but haven't even bothered after seeing how long, tedious, and frustrating those fights are, especially bloodied blows.

How many of you are actually attempting it? I thought I was good, not far from zuk helm myself, but im not gnomonkey or jraze, etc level

The drop tables for these two bosses feel backwards. I appreciate that Yama is accessible and has reasonable drop rates and good regular drops, but PNM is hog wild for dozens of hours to maybe get a unique (with few if any valuable normal drops). I understand the "GWD style" drop table, but the drops per hour, even after last year's improvements, are so pitiful. The sad part is that I want to kill PNM because it's fun and challenging, but I can't justify it between the marathon to get there and bad rates for what is basically niche gear.

I know what some of you are thinking with a title like this, so please put your pitchforks down and your git guds away and listen for a second.

This is stemming from another post about bloodied blows where people showed a lot of hate for its current design and I wanted to elaborate further.

For some context for those grinding this boss currently or those looking to give it a shot, I’m currently 4/5 on purifying sigils.

They all took a reasonable number of failures but I was able to push through by learning from my mistakes. (I actually really enjoyed figuring out sensory enrage that was an insane fight)

And then I started working on bloodied blows. In order to get to the enrage phase you realistically must stay at 1hp through p1 and p2 and go through a boss fight that pulls you to sleep. Once p3 begins you absolutely must wake tf up and prepare for an enrage that EXTREMELY tests your focus and accuracy.

For p3 context:

You must camp low hp to have an effective kill time. You must be at 15 hp or lower to 1shot the flares. It is not a GUARANTEED HIT even in max mage to hit the flares Yama can hit you with chip damage up to 12 while you are focusing flares.

This requires you to effectively dodge fireballs, skip over waves, read the hitsplat number on your character, make a critical decision based on mental math on whether or not you need to drink a guthix rest, open a moth jar, or even eat a hard food based on your hp. Hell you may even need to eat a hard food then locator orb down just to HAVE A CHANCE at killing a flare.

So naturally once I hit 50 failed attempts I thought to myself “man I must suck let’s get on YouTube again and see what people are doing differently”.

EVERY video I saw of a successful attempt albeit impressive.. people were getting chanced 4-8 times by the chip damage. Rng plays a HUGE role on whether or not Yama just decides to smite you down with large amounts of chip or hit you a zero.

So enough rambling, here’s what I would change:

  1. Make void flares 100% accurate to magic damage. Nobody wants to die to bad rng in a skill challenge with gp on the line
  2. Change Yama’s chip damage to a maximum hit of 6-8 rather than 12. Make one mistake and you are already getting 1 shot anyways. Keep the hp threshold needed to one shot flares at 15 hp.

Anyone else feel the same?

TLDR: Yama’s flares don’t need to be an rng coin flip and his chip damage in p3 also adds too much intensity to the kill.

I'm just getting into raiding and PvM on this game now, watching some videos of people doing sycnronised swimming, inferno, colleseum, hard mode versions of DT2 bosses etc.

And I can't believe I'm saying this but I think OSRS. A point and click game may have some of the most challenging PvM content of any game.

It's just, crazy how they've managed to create such a skill ceiling in this game.

It feels so terrible splashing the flares in MAX MAGE. Splashing on a flare in the enrage phase is basically a guaranteed fail. Please hotfix.
