Plasma 6 Bugs

If you encounter a bug, proceed to https://bugs.kde.org/, check whether it has been reported.

If it hasn't, report it yourself.

PLEASE THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE POSTING HERE.

Developers do not look for reports on social media, so they will not see it and all it does is clutter up the feed.

Plasma 6.0 Release Candidate 2 is just a week away!

This will be the last test release before the final version Plasma 6.0 hits repos on February 28. This is your chance to test a nearly entirely functional Plasma 6.0 and help us by reporting bugs.

Watch this space!

-

Remember: RC2 will still be a test version of Plasma 6.0. Some things may still break!

Support KDE's developers and contributors and get mentioned in Plasma 6's acknowledgements:

There's some mismatch between Linux kernel 3.10 and #KDE that wants to use clone3 to create a process thread.

Do I know anyone from @kde@lemmy.kde.social @kde@floss.social who is able to assist with debugging it further?

The system call clone3 has been added to linux 5.3 but it seems that KDE does not do any fallback in case the system call is rejected with EPERM.

Can I set a global filter options to always filter all podcast as you see in the attached image?

Currently I have to do this for each podcast and this setting is lost when I restart the app?

Season of KDE, KDE's mentorship program for new contributors, is kicking off with 18 new projects.

Covering #translations, #videoediting software, #math and #data #analysis tools, and software #sustainability and #accessibility, this year's edition will help new contributors to get started in #FOSS software development and help push apps and projects forward.

None of the GitLab projects in the post seem to work, for some reason. Maybe they forgot to make the issues public.

EDIT: It's fixed now.

EDIT:

This is just secure if your threat model is "having synced passwords, maybe on unencrypted cloud storage".

Kwallet is not secure, it can easily be read by any program. I stopped using this method myself as it is unnecessarily insecure.

original post

  1. Open "KWalletManager"
  2. If not existent, create a new folder called "Passwords" by clicking on the clear area and then "New"
  3. Open that folder, in here you find multiple folders, one is called "Passwords" in your systems language
  4. Right click the "Passwords" subfolder and press "new"
  5. Name the entry for example "Keepass", click on the entry and "show content", enter your Keepass Password
  6. Create an Appstarter for quick-opening your password storage!

You can create an App Desktop Entry like this, open your Terminal and enter:

When using KeepassXC Flatpak:

cat > ~/.local/share/applications/keepassxc-unlock.desktop <<EOF
[Desktop Entry]
Name=Keepass-unlock
Comment=Unlock your KeepassXC vault
Exec=kwallet-query -r KeepassXC kdewallet | /usr/bin/flatpak run --branch=stable --arch=x86_64 --command=keepassxc --file-forwarding org.keepassxc.KeePassXC --pw-stdin ~/passwords.kdbx
Icon=emblem-encrypted-unlocked
Type=Application
EOF

When using a native package:

cat > ~/.local/share/applications/keepassxc-unlock.desktop <<EOF
[Desktop Entry]
Name=Keepass-unlock
Comment=Unlock your KeepassXC vault
Exec=kwallet-query -r KeepassXC kdewallet | keepassxc --pw-stdin ~/passwords.kdbx
Icon=emblem-encrypted-unlocked
Type=Application
EOF

Plasma 6 Release Candidate 1 has landed.

We are less than 50 days away from the final version of #Plasma6.

Along with Frameworks 6 and KDE Gear 24.02, the Megarelaease on the 28th of February will be one of the biggest and more complex upgrades in KDE's history.

One more RC will be released on the 31st of January and then it will be (hopefully) clear sailing until the final release.

Related to a previous post about Thunderbird collecting 6.4 million dollars in 2022 and KDE only 200k, I'm wondering why people do not donate or do not donate more to KDE.

What's holding you back?

Here's what I said in that thread

I donate periodically to KDE, but my major gripe is that I don’t know where the money is going. They have no financial reports that can be easily found, individual projects don’t have a donation button, there’s no public tracking of their income or expenditure like on opencollective, and it’s not easy to find KDE devs (aka who is actually on the KDE team) so that one could sponsor individual devs.

Although I trust KDE more than Mozilla (MZ pays their CEO 7 million/year and invests in anything but Firefox, their most known project), I would much much much rather prefer it to know where the money goes.
