Aardman differs from most other major animation studio because of its use of Lewis Newsplast to mould its characters.

This is a plasticine-like substance which is easy to mould but also keeps its shape under hot studio lights.

However, it was only made by one factory, and the Torquay-based manufacturer closed earlier this year.

Critics say it's not a trend but a fad. Whatever the case, one thing's for sure: if you go to the movies this summer, chances are you're going to be there for a while.

Are films getting longer? And how long is too long?

The topic's been dominating cinema circles after Martin Scorsese's epic Killings of the Flower Moon left people glued to their seat for more than one reason. It runs three hours and 26 minutes.

But cinemas who added an intermission off their own bat copped a whack from Scorsese's people.

"And for good reason," said CJ Johnson, president of the Film Critic Circle of Australia. "You have to show it as the artist intends."

Dune: Part Two just had its release date moved up. Unfortunately, that date is not “tomorrow” but we’ll take what we can get. The Denis Villeneuve sci-fi sequel is still coming out March 2024 but now a few weeks earlier.

Netflix: Daniel Kaluuya co-writes, co-directs and co-produces. The kitchen, a new British dystopian thriller film coming exclusively to Netflix in January 2024. Having been in development since at least 2016, it’s been a long time coming.

by Ben Travis | Published on11 11 2023. Darren Aronofsky has always been attracted to stories of extremity – whether it’s the bodily intensity of The Wrestler and The Whale, the psychological torment of Mother! and Black Swan, the religious endurance of Noah, or the actual endurance test that is Requiem For A Dream. And for his next project, he’s found something that’s set to invoke all kinds of extreme reactions – because it centers on a person who’s divisive to the nth degree. According to reports, Aronofsky is set to direct an A24 biopic of none other than Elon Musk – the controversial mega-rich Space X founder, owner of Twitter (sorry, ‘X’), former bigwig of Tesla, and more....

The true, crazy story of Wakaliwood. Directed by Cathryne Czubek (A Girl and a Gun), Once Upon a Time in Uganda takes a trip to the open sewers and open hearts of the Ugandan film industry - such as it is. Cinemas, as Nabwana explains, are only for the rich, and everyone else has to make do with home-burned bootlegs of 1980s American action films. That's what inspired Nabwana to found Ramon Film Productions, and make his own entertaining movies. It's all crafted with cheap cameras, volunteer actors, homemade effects, and an editing suite that he literally wired together himself. Plus there's mad maker/prop master Dauda, whose sheer glee at getting to make movies is infectious. What Nabwana made is unique, and it's something that Hofmanis (a former festival booker himself) fell in love with – as have global audiences.

Things are looking grimmer and grimmer by the day for “The Marvels.” Last week I had reported that, based on internal tracking, I was seeing a $45-$50M opening for the latest MCU installment.

Any video on YouTube claiming to be a trailer isn’t. I know it’ll be a great movie but curious to see if there is a trailer.

LOS ANGELES, Aug 24 (Reuters) - The Warner Bros (WBD.O) movie studio will delay the planned November release of a big-budget "Dune" sequel until March, a studio spokesperson said on Thursday, because its stars cannot promote the movie during the Hollywood actors' strike.

Top stars have refused to promote upcoming projects since the SAG-AFTRA actors union joined striking Hollywood writers and walked off the job on July 14.

Reuters, top stars cannot promote because that is a part of the rules of their union. I hate the way this is written.

I've definitely seen The Prestige (2006) the most in my adult life, it was my taste-barometer when showing a new friend or date when I was in my 20s.

But we had the The Mummy (1999) recorded from TV on a VHS growing up and I recked that shit. I probably watched that film 30-40 times, between childhood days off sick and rewatching intermitently in adulthood.

Honourable mention to Love Actually; thanks mum.

For the millions watching at home it was an unforgettable moment in British TV history.

In February 1988 on BBC's That's Life! a man called Nicholas Winton came face-to-face with some of the 669 Jewish children he had saved from the Nazis prior to World War Two.

A surprise reunion, it brought to light a remarkable story - one which has now been turned into a Hollywood film.

And it is set to star Port Talbot's Sir Anthony Hopkins as the Holocaust hero dubbed the British Schindler.

Entitled One Life, the movie will tell of how Sir Nicholas, a London stockbroker who was knighted for his humanitarian accomplishments in 2003, helped get young Jewish refugees out of occupied Czechoslovakia in 1938. (...)
