A rescue operation in the sights of Russian drones, and past enemy positions along an uncharted route, outside their area of responsibility—these were the conditions faced by the UGV operators of the “NOVA” unit ‪@NOVA.AB3‬ of the 3rd Assault Brigade ‪@ab3army‬.

The aim was to evacuate a serviceman of the 104th Territorial Defense Brigade, who had been wearing a tourniquet for five days. Normally, preparing such a mission takes days, but there was no time. While specialists assessed the chance of success at only 5%, the pilots did everything possible to save the wounded soldier—and in the end, they succeeded.

Some new interesting details in this video and the rescued soldier makes an appearance thanking everyone at the end. What an amazing lifesaving capability!

The 308th Aircraft Repair Plant in the city of Ivanovo is on the brink of bankruptcy, burdened by mounting debts and legal claims, while its workers have not received salaries since September. It was this very plant that carried out repairs on the An-22 (tail number RF-08832), which crashed on 9 December 2025 during a test flight and went down north of Ivanovo. All eight crew members on board were killed.

The German government media commissioner and others tell DW that Russia is "afraid" of free expression and a free press. It follows the Justice Ministry in Moscow labeling Deutsche Welle an "undesirable organization."

At the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia held clear naval superiority in the Black Sea. Over the course of the war, Ukraine has developed an asymmetric maritime strategy using unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), achieving strategic effects against a superior naval force.

Ukraine has largely shifted from importing complete drone systems to assembling them domestically using foreign components, with China remaining a key supplier of many critical parts. What is more, Ukraine is now preparing to export its drones internationally.

In this episode, Katsiaryna Shmatsina, Eurasia Fellow at Lawfare, sits down with Cat Buchatskiy, the Director of Analytics at the Snake Island Institute, to discuss Ukraine’s maritime operations in the Black Sea, the use of drones, and the supply chains behind them. Cat leads a team of analysts producing frontline-validated research on modern warfare, defense innovation, and U.S.-Ukraine security cooperation.

SSU hit a Russian submarine in Novorossiysk

The Security Service of Ukraine conducted another unique special operation and arranged maritime "bavovna" in the port of Novorossiysk. For the first time in history, "Sub Sea Baby" underwater drones blew up a Russian Project 636.3 "Varshavyanka" class submarine (NATO classification — Kilo). As a result of the explosion, the submarine sustained critical damage and is, in effect, disabled.

On board the submarine were four cruise missile launchers for "Kalibr" missiles, which the enemy uses for strikes on the territory of Ukraine.

This was a joint operation of the 13th Main Directorate of Military Counterintelligence of the SSU and the Navy.

The cost of a "Varshavyanka" class submarine is about 400 million US dollars. Given the introduced international sanctions, the construction of an analogous submarine may currently cost up to 500 million dollars. This class of submarines is also known by the name "Black Hole" due to the hull's ability to absorb sounds and remain stealthy to sonars.

We remind you that the blown-up boat was forced to stay in the port of Novorossiysk due to successful special operations of "Sea Baby" surface naval drones, which forced Russian ships and submarines out of the Sevastopol Bay in temporarily occupied Crimea.
