The title might be redundant but it is what it is ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Post the food you cook, or the recipes you love.

In the spirit of the chill vibes CPO ethos, some simple rules:

  1. You don't need to be vegan to participate but if you go to the trouble of bringing it up, I'm not going to delete critical/mean comments.

  2. No low effort content. OC such as memes are welcome, link spam is not. If you are linking a recipe at least let us know why you are sharing it. Do you like it? Is it something you've been meaning to try? Give us something!

  3. Low effort content will be flagged in the comments. I get it, not everyone reads the side bar. If it becomes a pattern from a user I'll just start deleting them ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

  4. You can cross your own posts from other coms but cross posts from other comms without discussion (or cross posts that are stirring up shit) will be deleted.

  5. I can't believe I have to write this - if you comment about eating corpses or other bodily fluids, I'm deleting it.

Too hungry to type up the ingredients ATM, maybe later. The chili was made from scratch, the sweet potato fries from frozen. Topped with some vegan cheese and a few splashes of hot sauce. ๐Ÿคค

This was a meal shared with a carnist relative who is visiting. It's pretty easy but impressive, and it's novel enough they won't complain about it "missing something".

My husband has suggested we get an induction burner and I am excite. Using the electric pressure cooker is sub-optimal (it's too tall). With the induction burner we can get one of those divided pots so we can cook our own food in our own half ๐Ÿ˜ˆ. I think we eat it enough that it will be a nice thing to have.

We did use packaged broth but if we're eating it more I'm sure we'll try making our own.

Things I put in a pan:

  • Potatoes
  • Mushrooms
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Roasted red pepper & artichoke tapenade
  • Nutritional yeast
  • Dried spices

Turned out awesome.

I haven't had pho in years, this shit slaps. I had a hankering for tofu puffs but in the future I think I will try tofu skins.

Not exactly chili, more of a southwest bowl kinda thing.

  • Spanish rice
  • Green chilies
  • Cannellini beans
  • Fire roasted tomatoes
  • TVP taco filling
  • Nutritional yeast
  • Dry spices

Night two of not being a stoned raccoon: bouillon, soy sauce, veg oyster sauce, avocado hot sauce, veg mix with vermicelli noodles.

Shout out to the real ones at the vegan home cooks discord who are a good influence and inspired me to be a step above the stoned trash panda that I am and actually assemble a meal.

Gluten free noodles were cooked as normal, veg mix was microwaved, and the TVP was rehydrated by soaking in boiled water. I added soy sauce, nooch, mustard powder and pepper. So comforting ๐Ÿ˜Š

I made it in the cup I am bringing.

Covered with water and set a timer for 20 mins.

Then forgot about it because I was very high. It's adequate!

There is no need to tell me that I have committed great injury to the national pride of Ethiopia but creating and sharing this travesty, but who am I to tell you how to spend your previous time on this earth?

Absolutely bangin' misir wot adjacent slop. Most of it is in the dehydrator getting ready to become backpacking food.

It's chilli: pinto beans, tvp, mixed veg, tomato sauce, jalapeno, and seasoning. I think the seasonings were salt, celery seeds, veg bullion, chilli powder, cayenne, and cinnamon. I made it in an electric pressure cooker.

I dehydrated it for about 24 hours before I broke it up and stored it in an air tight container.

Howdy internet,

I'm going backpacking in a few weeks and thought I'd see if anyone had any tips for vegan foods to bring? I'm gluten free but my partner isn't.

To be more specific, it's 3 days and two nights of hiking to a remote site and back. We have to bring everything we need and I will use a bear barrel because it's hard to find suitable trees (the rodents are fucking CRAFTY).

I haven't gone for years, but in the before times I would buy a few commercially available freeze dried meals that you just add water to, as well as some home dehydrated rice and chilli. The commercial stuff was mostly to keep us alive if I fucked up with making the other stuff dense enough or failed to bring enough. I'm going to try to stay away from the commercial stuff this year because it's crazy expensive and I don't need it to be shelf stable for years, just a few days.

Here is what I am thinking:

  • The chilli I'll make is tvp, pinto beans, tomato sauce, frozen veggies mix, spices.
  • I'm thinking of a curry, maybe with chickpeas, frozen veggie mix, spices. Maybe I'll bring some coconut milk powder to make it creamy. Or add soy milk powder and some sugar when rehydrating?
  • I just dehydrate whatever rice I have on hand, will likely bring some vermicelli noodles too.
  • I'll bring quick oats with some nuts and cinnamon for breakfast
  • instant coffee and soy milk powder, plus sugar

I will be using a camp stove that is intended for boiling water rapidly, so I'm not looking to cook things in it. It hasn't gone well for me in the past lol. We are likely under a fire ban.

I haven't thought too much about snacks, I'll probably stick to high calorie options like nuts.

Love to hear what you all do!

I'm eating a bowl of frozen veg medley that I microwaved until it was sufficiently warm and then put a giant glob of hummus on it. It fucking rules. As a bonus, I'm going to feel less ashamed about eating a giant bowl of rice and hot sauce later because I have eaten my veggies.

This experience made me realize that I've got to be missing out on some galaxy brain snacks. Vegan stoners, give me your secrets!

I had a bottle of the good store bought pad thai sauce, so I just added a little chilli garlic paste to make it spicy.

  • Vegan "Steak Tips"
  • Great Northern Beans
  • Garlic
  • Coconut Milk
  • Red Curry Paste
  • Tahini
  • Sweet Potato

Made the curry while the rice was cooking and everything finished at the same time. Time to eat! ๐Ÿคค

We've come a long way from brunch at hipster restaurants in Liberty Village but I love our life โค๏ธ

Oat waffles (oats, water, baking soda, salt) with apple butter from our own trees, and maple syrup.

Saffron rice, glazed tofu and frozen veg

I fucking love these noodles.

The potatoes were steamed then sliced and coated with vegan margarine mixed with onion soup mix. My partner had memories of making this before but I'd never heard of it! I wouldn't call it healthy but it's very tasty.
