Dear @afl #AFL Can we have an intro of the #johnFarnham You're The Voice https://youtube.com/watch?v=AF4DE3YmXhQ at the upcoming final? This would be the minimum required for support of #theVoice2023

It was a very close game and Jezza kicked goals off both of these, if I was a Pies fan I'd be a bit salty.

First one is pretty borderline, and the umpire was in a good position to call it:

Second one was pretty blatant not sure how they let that one through:

BRODIE Grundy has been thrown a lifeline and will return to Melbourne's team for the first time in five weeks, while Collingwood has recalled Will Hoskin-Elliott and Billy Frampton for Friday night's blockbuster against Geelong.

And in other round 22 team news, Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks has swung a surprise by dropping second-year star Josh Rachele to the substitute role for its match against Brisbane at the Gabba.

Grundy will play for the first time since being dropped following the win over St Kilda in round 17 as coach Simon Goodwin searches for answers to fill the hole left by the injured Harrison Petty.

Trent Cotchin will retire at the end of the 2023 season, drawing the curtain on one of the great Richmond careers

RICHMOND'S triple-premiership captain Trent Cotchin will bow out of the AFL as a "transformative" and "towering" figure in the proud history of the Tigers.

The 33-year-old has announced his retirement at season's end, likely to be Richmond's round 24 game against Port Adelaide as the club looks set to miss the finals.

Cotchin is battling calf soreness and will sit out Sunday's clash with St Kilda, but is hoping to be available for the Tigers' final two games against North Melbourne and the Power.

After being drafted with pick No.2 in 2007, Cotchin has found his "life purpose" in playing 305 games for Richmond – the fourth-most appearances in club history.

The entire Tigers list, and most club staff, were present as Cotchin was joined by wife Brooke and their three children at Punt Road Oval on Thursday to confirm his retirement.

'I lost my hunger': Inspirational Roo hangs up the boots

MUCH-LOVED North Melbourne veteran Ben Cunnington will play his last AFL game this weekend after announcing his retirement on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old will play a farewell game in Saturday's clash against Essendon before hanging up the boots after a career that will span 238 games and 14 seasons.

Inspiring skipper 'Boots' to retire

Inspirational West Coast Eagles captain Luke Shuey has today informed the club of his intention to retire at the end of the season.

After producing one of the great individual performances in Grand Final history, the 2018 Norm Smith medallist has decided to join another former captain Shannon Hurn in calling time at season’s end.

Shuey, a big game star and captain for the last four years, is also a dual John Worsfold medallist, was player of the finals in 2019 and also won the club’s emerging talent award in 2011.

“As much as my mind wants to go on, my body won’t allow it and I have made the decision to retire at the end of this season,” Shuey said.

‘Not acceptable and never will be’: AFL hands down punishment over Pickett fan incident

The patron who reached over the fence and touched Marlion Pickett during Friday night’s game at Marvel Stadium has been banned from attending AFL matches until the end of 2024.

Pickett had been beaten in a one-on-one making contest with Bulldog Marcus Bontempelli and overcomitted. As Bontempelli ran into the open goal, Pickett was left getting to his feet over the boundary line.

With his back to the crowd, a rogue fan reached out and patted Pickett repeatedly on the shoulder and then started gesturing to the Tiger as he turned around.

Do we want a bot that posts AFL news stories on @afl@aussie.zone ?

There's a bot on Mastodon ( @AFL@sportsfeed.me ) that automatically posts stories about the AFL.

I can request that the owner tags in the AFL group on Aussie Zone, so they appear here too.

But before I do, I just want to check that everyone here would be happy with the AFL bot posting here? #AFL
