Aggravated Assault: 753 Prince Pl NW

Preliminary Information: On 7/2/25, around 3:05am, officers responded to shots fired at the location of 753 Prince Pl NW. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a female homeowner and victim who stated her home and vehicle parked in her driveway were damaged by multiple rounds of gunfire. She was not injured.

Preliminary investigation indicates the victim, and her husband were sleeping when they heard several rounds of gunfire enter the home. The victim’s 12-year-old child sustained a laceration during the incident from shattered glass. Grady EMS came out to the scene and rendered aid to the 12-year-old female. Her injuries were non-life threatening. Officers recovered multiple shell casings from the crime scene and conducted multiple interviews with nearby witnesses. The investigation remains active and ongoing at this time.

Physical Dispute Involving Off-Duty APD Officer: 990 Piedmont Avenue NE

Preliminary Statement: On June 29th, 2025, at approximately 1:28AM, officers responded to X Midtown located at 990 Piedmont Avenue NE in reference to a physical dispute. The preliminary investigation indicated that there was a verbal altercation at the location which escalated to a physical dispute. Two of the involved persons were identified as 32-year-old Atlanta police officer Garrett Rolfe, who was off-duty at the time of the incident, and 52-year-old Raefeael Penrice.

Barricaded Gunman: 136 Burbank Dr SW

Preliminary Information: On 7/3/25, around 1:10am, officers responded to a call regarding shots fired at 136 Burbank Dr SW. Upon arrival, officers heard a single gunshot coming from inside the hone. Officers located a female and child outside the home and ushered them both to safety. The female identified herself as the wife of the suspect who was still inside the home. She further advised officers that an 8-year-old male remained inside the home with the suspect. Officers were also informed by the suspect’s wife that he was having a mental health crisis due to a passing of a family member.

Officers immediately established a perimeter around the home and requested APD TFO Officers and SWAT to the scene. Officers made multiple attempts to make contact with the suspect using a loudspeaker but were unsuccessful. As the perimeter was established and secured, SWAT units arrived on scene and secured search and arrest warrants to make entry inside the home.  Once SWAT units made entry, they discovered the male deceased with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The 8-year-old child was located in a separate room unharmed. There were no additional injuries reported at this time. This investigation remains active and ongoing.

Aggravated Assauslt: 600 Martin St SE

Preliminary Information: On 7/3/25, around 12:04am, officers responded to persons shot at the location of 600 Martin St SE. Upon arrival, officers located four victims, 3 females and 1 male, with gunshot wounds. Grady EMS responded to the scene and transported the victims to the hospital for treatment. Preliminary investigation indicates a group of male suspects fired multiple rounds of gunfire towards the home, striking the victims as they were inside. The suspects fled the scene in what appeared to be a black Dodge Ram (GAlicense plate:SCN0941) Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation continues.

Aggravated Assault: 1113 Smith St SW

Preliminary Information: On 7/3/25, around 1:16am, officers responded Grady hospital in reference to a person shot. The original incident location appeared to have originated at 1113 Smith St SW.  Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was walking on Smith St. was he heard a car horn and observed a vehicle make a U-turn towards him. At that time, the victim stated he heard approximately 10 gunshots fired from the vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene, and the victim discovered he was shot. He was privately transported to Grady hospital where he was met by officers. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation continues.
